I've been on YouTube watching a few of the Diamond/Pearl clips in Japanese, and also looking at the pictures on Serebii. I won't spoil anything, but I am a bit :redface: around Dawn. There are some 'teasing' shots around her dress (like running to her Pokemon) that I think might raise some red flags, though I don't have a problem, but I am concerned of the younger audience's reaction. I remember when Pokemon's Colosseum came out, there were some concerns about the girl partner's dress attire and they made it a big longer in the US release. I hope they don't touch her attire, but it certainly is short.
Kind of ironic that Dawn's mom frowns on what she'd wear in the contests, but doesn't say anything about riding a bicycle in that attire.:wink:
THere's also a couple of bad song clips calling Dawn some names. Dawn shouldn't be criticized at all, I think she's a great character. Just her outfit is really, a little too nice.:redface:

I know Dawn is young, but somehow, that attire might give some other trainers some 'bad ideas'. But on the other hand, maybe it's to distract them while Dawn wins in contests, who knows? THere's just the risk of 'peekaboo' whenever Dawn moves around in that attire. Let me say this, I as a Pokemon trainer would be more then honored to get my behind kicked in a battle with her.
Then again, that's why Pokemon has lasted 10 years with Pokemon and girl trainers.

Know what you mean. I kept pausing the tape in slow motion tonight seeing Dawn run to her Pokemon. I mean, this girl makes the girl character in the Roger Rabbit movie pale in comparison! I can see why this might be a great season to have a girl like that.

And you're supposed to like "Pokemon" not the girls on there I admit the dress is short and she's pretty but people do that I guess to gain older audiences which is gross or that's just what's in style in Japan here in America, some girls wear stuff like that :P

I don't think there is anything that needs to be edited. If anything the D\P episodes are the most pc of all the seasons before they even get dubbed :P.
And panty shots are nothing new in anime, but I don't see why you would focus on them, it's just underwear :P. *Looks at own panties* They show underwear ads all the time on tv :P
Unless you are talking about something like Ranma 1/2 which to date outside of an anime channel has never aired on basic cable for many many things worst than D/P could ever dream of doing...

Nothing new to Japanese anime. Don't go all ga-ga about PIXELS though. I think Dawn is quite cute and funny, irregardless of her revealing costume. She's much cooler than May, both in anime and game!

I know. That's the best attire I've seen on her, and it's kind of fun to wonder if we'll see the '3rd sequel' to Basic Instinct when it comes to her teasing wardrobe. Basic Instinct was a movie years ago, and one joke from the movie was the way Sharon Stone was decked out in her dress and gave really teasing angles. That's what I think of when I see Dawn running around in that attire.
I still think it's great, but I wonder about the parents' reaction?

well knowing that im kinda like her I dont think she would want you to be looking up her skirt. and the older teen age has hit that means the next girl(if there is one) will be worse in clothing then dawn, it may be much more than panties.

It's kind of hard to ignore it when you see her running to her hurt Piplup, adn then the Buneary smacks her with Jump Kick to send her falling back. I really don't want to think that much about it because it's too appealing, but in a good way. I'm trying to keep her as a respected character.:redface:
Personally, I hope they never change the girl anymore with Dawn. Keep her around please.

My opinion is that IT's JAPANESE. Ever played DOA? The girls have unrealistically huge bouncing balloons. And it's easy to see the purpose - to attract older audiences. Dawn doesn't seem too developed (not like May), and it's not her fault she doesn't know how much her miniskirt distracts the guys around her. xD
And about the revealing shots, they do that on purpose. I mean, it's just a bit of fun.

Yeah it is fun. It's just a teasing shot. I'm sure they know of the 'censoring', they just like to tease people. I do agree that in a way, Dawn sees these contests as something about as exciting as cheering. Look at what cheerleaders wear? Plus maybe Dawn likes that attire for traveling, even it will be distracting.
Dawn is a genuine 10 year old, that's why she doesn't have you know.:redface:

I'm glad at least they don't draw her ridiculously well-developed like May. When I watched the first episode of the Ruby/Sapphire season, and she mentioned that she was ten, I cracked up and was all, "Yeah, right, that's believable!"

I fell out of my chair at that debut episode. Here's May, introducing herself, looking like she's about 13 years old about to start on her journey....

Can you say pedophile? :neutral: On a side note, consider how old pokemon is now. The people who liked it when it first came out are in their late teens now. Honestly I think it's about time pokemon hits adolescense and starts putting a BIT more mature content in there. Also, Japan is alot more laxed about social values than the western cultures. If you want proof go look at some of the banned episodes. They deal with cleavage, pointing guns at kids, and racial stereotypes over in japan... when do we get the good stuff too? :sad:

Exactly. Granted, we'll see a lot of things with an outfit like that, but there's enough going around in movies. I have to admit she's got me eager to watch Pokemon again. I stopped watching because well, too many fillers, no sense in why Ash had Battle Frontier when he didn't do good against Elite 4 of Hoenn, and May listened too much to Harley in the contests.:sad:
Be kind of funny if Harley tried anything with Dawn. She'd probably kick him where it hurts.:crackup:

Some people take it seriously. Let's see, I recall Cardcaptors had some unusual outfits, then Sailor Moon obviously, there shouldn't be any issue with Dawn's skirt. You want 'lesbo', watch Xena. There were so many rumors from that show with her and Gabrielle, yet it lasted 5 years or so! If it's not a big deal in the game, why is it a big deal on TV? It's just 'teasing shots', they're not going to do anything ala Simpson like, or King of the Hill like as they've gone more risque then Pokemon. IT's just a feeling, but it's a good feeling. It's not something to be condoned in real life now, it's just something from TV.
Dawn is pretty in that skirt. She should be happy we think she looks great. I"m sure she likes to wear it because she's proud of who she is as a girl.:happy:

1) any problem with 'a kids show', see the ratings for the Simpsons. I can't envision there are 'millions' of kids watching a top 25 or so show like that, same with King of the Hill, same with YugiOh, and same with all the other cartoons. I'm sure 'Adult Swim on CN with Futurama and Family Guy has a high rating, and...how can kids stay up that late if shows like that are on 'Adult Swim?'
2) The outfit is only debatable amongst parents who will look at it and say it's not right, but kids will look at it and say it's cool. I do not wish to comment on your falsified comments because they are inappropriate and an outright lie that can lead you to being banned for such conduct to another member. I respect all girls, real, and on a TV show such as Pokemon. A teasing jovial nature does not make one into 'a Brock.' I do not fancy Dawn, and Pokemon is 'not a kid's show.' The Simpsons isn't too bad, actually. It's not even too much of a grown-up show for me to enjoy. It's funny, but a different kind of funny if comparing to South Park. It's more, conservative funny.
As for Family Guy, it isn't funny.
I have a really hard time believing that Dawn is a 10 year old. I mean honestly! What 10 year old wears that kind of clothes? Dx As for May! She doesn't look 10 either! They sure do act like they are 10! Heck! Even Ash acts like he is 10 still! xD! They are all kind of ditzy, though Dawns attire is rather risky if you ask me

Well...I'm sure there's some kind of consideration. I remember on Pokemon Colliseum, the first one and not XD, the female character had on an outfit similar to Dawn's in a white skirt. When the game came to America, the outfit had a little more length to it. What convinces me Dawn is 10 is her height is smaller then May's height and she doesn't have, you know. I say if that's the feminine look for the girl character, I see no problem with it.

I think there is a episode in the 1st season of pokemon which is banned due to censored part of the anime where james has a big boops.... and even compared his boobs to misty.. I think That episode is "Beauty and the Beach"

I actually SAW that one on TV...LOL, dude, it's anime......I have wierdo hentai pop-up on my screen all of the time..(On accident obviously.) And I don't even pay attention..I just X out.
So seriously, The most they'll do is change the hight and length or whatever because a lot of the shows have been aired in Japan already...and so-far...nothing there.
