This thread was previously "Fly?",

This a thread where you talk about why certain Pokemon can't learn certain moves and that they should be allowed to learn said move.

As it left off we were talking about how Lickitung didn't know Lick in RBY.

Does this belong in the R/S boards? Probably better off in General, or Movesets... I'd ask a mod about it...

It ticks me off that it can't learn it... and then some electric mon learn thundershock and Thunder... but not Thunderbolt...

Yeh like Electrike can learn Spark and Thunder but not Thunderbolt! It's so annoying because Thunderbolt is such a great move! You have to wait until Mr. Wattson gives the TM to you after do the errand for him.

What about Electabuzz's lack of Thunder Wave... that's just mean...

Plus, why did Groudon get an attack that goes with its weather effect (Solarbeam), and Kyogre had to go with the TM (Thunder)?

In Rb, I evolved a lv.3 pikachu with thundershock + growl and the raichu didn't learn any attacks at all!

One time I restarted my game, and got a wobbefet. When I found it couldn't learn Psychic, or calm mind, I was totally pissed.

IMO, Electabuzz is fast enough to not need T-Wave

Gold: No pokémon that evolve with stones ever learn moves

Thank you Mr. Alakazam... but still, Thunder Wave is still a nice move... Meh... oh well.

I think that Gyrados should be able to learn Fly because it's a huge Pokemon and in the game it's part Flying type!

Also I think it's shocking that Illusise, a Bug type Pokemon, can not learn any Bug moves even though Volbeat, also a Bug type Pokemon, can learn Tail Glow and Signal Beam! What is that all about?

I was trying to teach my Umbreon (traded with colloseum) Theif and it would not work. Why cant a Dark type learn a Dark type move? :ermm:

Thank you Mr. Alakazam...

You're welcome, Mr. Matthew. *bows* lol

Anyway, fly for Gyrados? How could he ever fly? He dosn't have any wings -_-

Anyway, I think that Absol should be able to learn Crunch. It's dark, and it learns Bite, so whynot Crunch?

Gyrados is Water/Flying type (Flying!)

Alakazam
09-01-2004, 11:02 PM
Yes, but it has no reason to be 'flying' type; it's illogical. Delibird is flying type, do you see it using fly?

~Bayleef~
09-01-2004, 11:16 PM
Delibird can learn Fly, so yes I do see it Fly.

In Coloseum Gyarados hovers. If it can hover thats close to being able to fly.

Oh...I stand corrected. Well then, explain the physics that allow a giant dragonic snake to take flight. :rolleyes:Mew dosen't have wings, It ain't a flying type, neither is smeargle, but Nintendo allowed them to fly.
So why shoudn't a dragon eh?
And why is it a water/flying type when it can't learn fly but can learn stuff like outrage.
A water/Dragon type would be more accurate.

Yes, JT, very irked that Gyarados's only flying move is HP Flying, not that it's a bad move and all, but it's almost impossible to obtain in game >_>

On the topic of moves that should be learned but aren't...

IMHO give Pidgeot Drill peck, or give it a new move like Flare Talon or something >_>

Because they're 60 % dark.

You better mean 50% :susp:

XD @ Ala... that was funny... my librarian at school ( I was a Library assistant... so sue me... I wanted an easy A :silly:) used to call me Mr. Matt.... XD

Heh... Gyrados is worthless to me... as common as thunder mon/ thunderbolt are... he is useless to me... though he is very powerful... meh... I think I used him in my game before... I thought he could learn fly... meh... I guess not... lol.

As for Car/Shar not learning any water moves... bah... just teach them surf and live with it... XD...

No, 60.

On this website I got through a google search, every single pokemon was either 100% something, 0r 60 and 40% something.
Ł guesses what gyarados was 40% of :susp:

Matthew
09-04-2004, 08:36 PM
Wait... what website is that? I wanna see... XD... they have two types therfore they are 50/50... XD

Hmmm.... and why don't they have a move called Mewo or Purr for the cat mon... how many cats do you know that can growl? XD...

I still think that Gyrados should be able to learn Fly, in R/S/E there aren't many Pokemon that can learn Fly which is unfair! Also there aren't many Flying type moves in R/S/E to learn, I think that Flying types have been under valued in this series....

I'm guessing Aerial Ace isn't enough for you.

For me, I think we should have more Bug-type TMs. Also, make Flamethrower easier to get.

In my opinion, Unown is the most pointless and worthless Pokémon to ever be created.

Its stats suck... period...

Hidden Power in general can be handy, but when it's your only move and you have pathetic stats, it sucks...

Plus it couldn't learn TMs, HMs, or any kind of Move Tutor or breeding move, so apart from a collectable Pokémon, what the hell is the point in it?

When Emerald is out, FR/LG is already out. Now you can get Pidgeot, Fearow, the three legendary birds and so on.
I think there's A LOT of good flying types.

Well, those two make sense.. Since dogs, raccoons, and other merry furry critters can swim.

But Aggron is a STEEL type, so.. How does it stay afloat?

One thing that's very unusual is why Gyarados doesn't learn flying-type attacks! That is very disappointing!

That's weird because they are all Rock types and weak to water.

There are only like 2 attacking Bug type moves! (In FR/LG somehow Dewgong can learn Signal Beam!)

It's just plain wrong that Gyrados can't learn Fly even though it's part Flying type.

If you can get Thunderbolt and Ice Beam in the game without the Game Corner then you should be able to get Flamethrower aswell!

No, we need flamethrower. >_>

And Unown isnt the most useless thing ever, that'd be Luvdisc >_> Sorry, its evil bean likeness is odd beyond me. o_o Though its in my sig.

Charizard couldn't learn fly in RB >=\

Gyrados makes sense in not being able to fly, it doesn't have wings. >_> Nor can it use many of the other flying attacks because of that. Though, I thought it got Aerial Ace. O_o

Rydon has been able to surf sinec RBY, though it makes about as much sense as me on a sugar high. >_> Its not really useful either, cuz you get EQ for rock types, and most are part ground, and it has no good use for other water pokemon or grass. Fire, yeah, but you have EQ and Rockslide for that too. Pretty dumb to me. =\

I could probably think up other things, but I'm at school so...yeah. o_o

You can get it in Yellow, I'm just wondering why they didn't have it in RB. And, I'm not sure, but I'm almost positive that there was no episode about a surfing Rydon...

Also, Paperfairy, how is it supposed to get the milk...

there was! in johto journeys.

This lady was digging a tunnel with ground pokemon and there was water coming through.
Then she saw a surfing rhydon in a lake, Then Ash-clan came along and went on a wild goose chase after it.
In the end she catches it with a marill and 2 pokeballs.

Also, Paperfairy, how is it supposed to get the milk...

 dude, how old are you? 7?
