Well guys, forcasted to hit us Friday night Satruday. Hurricane francis is expected to make land fall in FL. The weathermen have showed some simualtions where the eye of the storm could hit where I live. During Hurricane Andrew my house was reduced to rubble. Well anyway we are putting up our shutters and hoping all goes well. Hurricane Charlie tore a part of my roof, but it haas been fixed. I hope correctly.

You'll be in my prayers, Josh.
What category is the storm now?
JoshE

Good Luck Josh, I remember when Issabelle hit us last year. Just hang tight.
(Did u know that the eye of the hurricane is actually the weakest part of the storm?) (But the walls of the eye are the strongest)

Yes I know. That is why it is the most dangerous. Around the eye revolve the highest speeded winds of the hurricane.

Like I said in the Team thread JoshE, I hope you are safe and make it through this... I know powerful weather is dangerous... though I don't have to deal with it... I get fires, and earthquakes and that is pretty much it... Hopefully you make it through alright. I hope your home isn't destroyed this time...
JoshE

I think we will make it through this. Charlie only took half of the roof and it has been rebuilt. It wasnt like some other houses in Fl that were reduced to rubble. Just gotta stay in a room with no windows. I remember Hurricane Andrew. I held ther nails as my dad hammered them so the door would not open and the hurricane would not destroy the house.

EEP! Poor you! I've never had to go through a major hurricane yet! ^_^;; I hear it's scarey, though. The year before we moved to the US the roof on our first US house was blown off o_O"

Man Josh I wish you good luck, I live in Florida also. The last I heard of Francis is that its supposed to hit down in the south part of Florida and slice threw the state and exit threw Tampa Bay, I live in Riverview, Florida. I hope you are safe. I hope everyone is safe from Francis.

But, gotta admit.. Hurricane Francis is just a really silly name for a hurricane. XD

Twisters can be very dangeous because there is little warning of it. We have Twisters in FL to.

You'll survive the storm, even without the rope. You have any underground cellars for sanctuary during the storm, Josh? I have a good idea, if you do...
*goes to Josh's supposed cellar and chains him there*
Good luck with the storm, don't let the Frances bugs bite...or something...
Be safe, man.

There are no cellars in FL silly. 7 feet under the ground is water in FL. lol.

As you've heard from many other people Josh, good luck in this storm. Some of my relatives are going to be in it as well, but since you have the walls of the hurricane passing straight through your house, it will be a tough one. Again, good luck. :wink2:

We are not sure if the eye wall will hit us. But my area is in the path of the eye wall in 1/3 forecasts. We get some of the hardest winds in 3/3 though.
I have realatives in Orlando, I have no clue at all if that place is getting hit though :ermm:

The orlando area could recieve signifigant damage. 1 forercaST HAS THE eye turning north and hitting them. but there are 3 and i am really unsure of what will happen.
Thanks for comforting me, Josh.
I just hope us Northeasterners won't get anything like that for a verah, verah, verah, verah long time. I live in the mountainous region of NJ, where Tornados are either extremely small or 'extinct' so I am a bit free of worries 'round here. :ermm:

Charlie actually almost went all the way to NYC. But it became a Tropical Depression by then and it did not have stronger winds than the weakest winds in Francis. So.
Oh yeah I dont wanna worry you. Just make sure they have shutters which I am sure they do. There are shelters everywhere though so they could always stay in one.
Oh, my house has survived every hurricane for the last few years sustaining little to no damage. Also, believe it or not, my living room has no windows at all, which is quite weird.
Meh, don't remind of shelters. It creeps me when I see those yellow labels having the special symbol and the words bomb shelter on them. In fact that was one of the causes for my anxiety at late August, while you were on vacation.

Yeah, no windows at all. Just the door leading outside, and 3 other doors to the other rooms.

The eye is going through a repair phase which the weather dude on the news sais that the winds are even stronger when that happens when the eye repairs to make it less vulnarable.

Um, Green, what has your weatherman been smokin? It's moving at 3 mph and not all of it has even landed yet. They say it could take the eye 4 hours just to pass one location. So yea it's not leaving Florida anytime soon.

Oh. Well, I didn't know.
It showed the hurricane on the news a while ago. It was absolutely awful.
All you could see were houses with no slanted roof, possibly roof fallen in, also trees being blown to the ground and rain. Phone wires being blown and many more. News said "The storm has caused chaos from Miami all the way to Cape Canaveral (sp)."

Oh no,Josh. Me and my family have been watching the hurricane and prayed for the people in Florida. Or atleast I did.
Luckily I live in Texas, far from Galveston or the ocean. Yes, we only have to worry about fires and tornados. Lol. We don't have to worry about floods becausewe live on a hill. ^.^
Anyway, I wish you luck. I really hope that you, and everyone else within the hurricane's range, make it through alright. Houses can be rebuilt. Lives can't.

I live in Texas as well. As for the perishing comment, that brings up something I've always thought about. How would we ever know when someone did die? Would we have to say: if we don't post within a certain amount of months, then we're dead? That's a sad thing to think about.

I doubt Josh will die. I am not even sure where his town of Boca Raton is so I would not know if the eye ended up hitting them or not.

Well, hopefully, they'd spend they're last moments at the computer, kida like what SamusAran almost did once in the Dark Council thread. Or you bother them with annonying e-mail to see if they answer.
EDIT: Or, you can write in your will to have a loved one post that you're dead and give your internet leadership abilities (Web sites, clubs, etc). I just need to finalize that on my will.

Yes its true! I survived! yet we have half of the shutters still up because Hurricane Ivan is only 5 days away. If we get hit by it it will be the 3rd hurricane in 30 days! That is a record. Gosh I guess Floridians who get the beach and the great weather have to pay back some how. As my theory goes everyone on earth is equal. It depends on your definition of equality because all have faults and all have strengths. The differences can blind this fact because you might have a great talent yet you might admire someonelses more. yet someone could admire yours and still have something great. get it? if not dont ask me to explain further.

Meh... Ivan is gonna hit the eastern part of Flordia... it is gonna hit poor gulf coast hard... I hope all in those locations are safe... as for more storms... there is a tropical storm out in the sea right now that might develop into a Hurricane name Jeanne... just be sure to keep an eye out for her... eye... XD lol.
green gyarados
09-16-2004, 07:04 AM
Maybe, cos the other day the bbc news 24 said why the storms are forming a lot. The eastern coast of america has hot air which causes vore water vapour to go into the sky creating more clouds to form a hurricane.
Hurricane Frances' after-effects hit last week. High winds and rain. Not as high as 150 mph but like gales. Yesterday was sunny with high winds but today it will be pouring. Ivan's after-effects...
Into next week. Ivan hit Cuba few nights ago.
Matthew
09-16-2004, 05:10 PM
I know why the hurricanes are forming... and they are forming out in the caribbean... not on the eastern coast of the US... and in my previous post... I meant to say Western Flordia... not Eastern... XD
green gyarados
09-16-2004, 07:41 PM
Not just the eastern coast of US but western Atlantic and areas. Not just the eastern coast.
News said Jeanne would hit in two weeks.
If I'm wrong don't blame anybody because I wasn't listening carefully.
Hardly any or maybe none will form now because the cold weather approaches. It's autumn and Autumn days are cold. Hey... Autumn Days! The hymn!
No laughter here, because this is serious news. Hurricanes could kill.

this is the most i've ever seen the usa involved with hurricane's. seems to be one right after the other. and the season is only half way through, still another half to go. i really feel bad for the island countries in the carribean. weak housing and poor living, now it will be worse.
they are predicting Jeanne to hit the Carolina's, so Florida would get a break this time.
