Not sure if this should go here or not, but since Emerald is a special version of RS, it should.
Apparently, there may be a new Gym Leader in Emerald, though if it is a Gym Leader then his type is not know. Just to see what Gyms there have been in the past, I typed out the types with their respective Gym Leaders...
Fire: Blaine, Flannery
Water: Misty, Wallace
Grass: Erika
Bug: Bugsy
Ice: Pryce
Dragon: Clair
Steel: Jasmine
Electric: Lt. Surge, Wattson
Ghost: Morty
Poison: Koga, Janine
Psychic: Sabrina, Liza & Tate
Flying: Falkner, Winona
Ground: Giovanni
Rock: Brock, Rozanne
Normal: Whitney, Norman
Fighting: Chuck, Brawly
Dark: N/A
As you can see, Dark Types have never had their own Gym before. The only important Dark Type Trainer in any of the games was Karen of the E4, in the GSC era. Still, this is Gym leaders were talking about.
A good reason for no Dark gym could be due to the fact that Dark Type Pokemon are somewhat limited in numbers. Even so, the 3rd Pokemon Generation has brought quite a few new Dark Pokemon, so it might be possible that this "New Gym Leader" specialises in Dark Type Pokemon.
What are other peoples opinions?

I think they should make a new dark gym. There are quite a few dark pokemon but not alot so the gym leader could have 3 or 4 pokemon, and then there could be 3 trainers in the gym, with 1,2, or 3 pokemon.

Hmm, a dark type gym leader would be pretty interesting. Or Nintendo may go for a type that has only been used once. Like ghost, ground, bug, grass, and the such.
*Shrug* We can only guess.

You can get an egg from VPP Reloaded in the RP section. But you have to fill out a form first, just read the rules

I seriously doubt there is a new gym leader. They'd have to replace someone. =\ But, if they do, ditch Norman >_> Though, I'm guessing the only new things about gyms might be the opsticals to get to the gym leader. lol, wouldn't be bad, since I have the others memorized >_> *shows off his no lifeness*

If there is a new Gym Leader, I'm hoping they'll make it a Dark type gym since Dark Types have expanded throughout RS. But then again, Sidney of the Elite 4 had Dark Types, so maybe it should be a Ground Gym.

Ah, Sydney, I almost forgot about him. And Ierdar, yeah, the Gyms have been revamped with new layouts.
On the Sydney note, still, it'd be great to have a Gym Leader (And a Gym) dedicated to Dark Types. Then again, maybe Game Freak thinks Darks are too cool to be normal Gym Pokemon...? Doubt it, but whatever. :P

I think DA's suspicions are correct. I mean, Dark Pokemon have been the only Pokemon type not used it gyms, and this would be a great opportunity to have them. But, what Dark-type Pokemon would they use...perhaps a young Sneasel, Murkrow and Umbreon? ^_^;
Lenox, gym leader of darkness...I can imagine it now.
Shame I won't be getting emerald.

Heh... why not gold?
Hmmm.... It would be rather neat to have a new type (dark) gym leader...
Heh... why not gold?
Because It's exactly the same as ruby + sapphire.
That's why I diddn't get crystal
Anyway, Ed will probably get it.
Then, If I like it, I maybe might just think about thinking about getting it. Maybe.

I doubt there are new gym leaders since in Crystal there were no gym leaders and Yellow didn't include any new ones either. But I would like more challengeing puzzles in the gyms.If there was new gym leader I think it should be either Bug or Ghost.

Well, maybe they never put new gym leaders in Yellow and Crystal because they never thought to?
And Gold, apparently Emerald will have Johto Pokemon. If you want unobtainable Pokemon, then you might as well get it. Also, the game already has enough differences to be classed as an entirely different Game from RS.
