Yeah, well, this is going in this board for now, since I didn't wanna SPAM up the Forum Battles thread with it ^^. However, a Mod may move it if they feel it'd be better off somewhere else.

Okay, so we're supposed to have special battles, right? However, the only special battles that really take place are FFAs, Gym Battles, and (if anyone ever challenges Marth XD) Legend Defender Battles. And most people don't take part in either of the last two, especially not newbies. That only leaves the FFAs, which most newbs don't get invited to because they aren't known enough.

So I propse a new special battle. It would be called Me Against Myself, and would run like this:

-Twice a month, any URPG member may battle themselves, as long as they have at least two Pokemon. They can use any number of Pokemon, such as 2v2 or 3v4, however they want to do it. Then they'd do a normal battle, choosing moves and such and waiting for the ref to do rolls and everything. At the end of the match, the member get 1500, since they both win and loss the match.

This is useful in several ways. For one, it gives you a free battle for as many of your Pokemon as you need. Two, it gives you a bit more money for whatever you might spend it on. Three, and perhaps most important, is that new or those who aren't confident in their abilities can learn new techniques or combos when battling themselves, because they can try it out on various Pokemon during on battle (if they have, say, four or more).

Making it only twice a month means most members would either wait until they needed some extra money or had a Pokemon they really needed battles for. Or, it could even be dropped to once a month, but I think the money should be bumped up to about 2000 or 2500 if it's once a month, and perhaps the member could choose a Pokemon to give two battles instead of one.

So here are a few suggestions of how to do it:

Bi-monthly-
*For the first and third weeks of each month ;
*For the second and fourth weeks of each month ;
*For the first and fourth weeks of each month
Winnings would be 1500 and one battle for each Pokemon that took part in the battle

Once monthly-
*Any one week of the month
Winnings would be 2000-2500, one battle for each Pokemon that took part in the battle, two battles for any one Pokemon that took part in the battle

Now, the week-long thing. Each week would begin at 12:00am on Sunday and end on 11:59pm on Saturday. Any time in that period, members can hold a Me Against Myself battle either in the forums or over AIM. Of course, if they already have three forum battles during that week, they would have to wait until one ended or the next week in which the MAM battles would be held again. A note could be posted and Stickied each week the battles were taking place in the Battling forum, or something similiar, to let people know when they could start doing the battles. Anyone trying to do a MAM battle outisde the allowed week(s) would get a warning and have the battle locked. Anything after that would of course be up to the URPG Mods, but I would suggest a few days banned from battling, and after that a week-ban from the URPG, and again would be a monthly ban. Again would be a perm ban. *Shrug.* But I'm evil like that lol.

Also, recording the battles would be easy. All a member would have to do is make a new category in their stats, listing when they did the battle and what they earned.

ANYWAYS...what does everyone think? *Hopes she doesn't get shot...*

It would somewhat take away the social aspect of the URPG and I personally don't like the idea of battling myself. It would get rather monotonous, just think about it. I order one mon to use a status inducing move, then i just order my other mon to counter it.

Also from a refs perspective i would also try to avoid reffing such battles, and finally it would be hard to keep track of and there are some that could abuse it to make extra money, they could go to different refs and say they haven't had to MAM battles this month and unless the ref goes and finds proof of that (which I'm guessing would take too long in itself, therefore they wouldn't bother) then thats easy money for that person.

It's a nice idea, I just can't see it happening.

I agree that it would be monotonous and ruin the social aspect of the RPG, one of the most important things, but there could be a thread to counter the "lazy ref needing to verify if the trainer has had more than enough MAM battles", where refs simply post that Mr. So-and-so has had a MAM battle. They could edit their posts during that month so the thread wouldn't get clogged up, and have a first post that could be easily seen by any ref with a completed list of every person and how many MAM battles they've had. ^_^

Either way, I really don't care. :/

I'm sorry, but I don't think this will work. In response to your arguments:

1.- Battles are...already free. It's not as if we're paying refs with trainer money =s.
2.- It's just another way of getting easy money without any kind of effort.
3.- You can't learn new combos by battling yourself. Your knowledge is limited to you, and if you know what your opponent is doing, there's nothing you can learn from you. The best way to learn is simply to watch how other members fight, and learn from your mistakes.

The money thing is very tempting for me, however, MAM battles are really useless, they are like writing a story, where the author writes one person vs another person, which is the same as a MAM battle. But, when battling yourself, you can't actually see what's wrong with you battling.

And when battling yourself, what about Smeargle's Sketch? I'm sure some people might take advantage of it, and easily get the moves that are best, well, if you battle others, you can actually learn better from what mistakes you made.

Another thing I don't think ref's would realy wan't to ref the battle but it is super Tempting.

People do that now.

I'm suprised that wasn't the first thing that came to your head.

I completely agree.

If I want to fight myself, I'd make a clone account. :neutral:
