Ok, here we go, we are going to get this Tournament under way. Signups were unofficially in the interest thread, so here are the participants. Pay attention, for the number next to your name is your tournament number:
1-Pink Blur
2-VenusaurTrainer
3-Angel of Retribution
4-Marill
5-Raik
6-Ierdar
7-Mana
8-Andreas
Ok, so here is the set-up of the tourney:
N8 and I have compiled 8 groups of 8 monsters. Each group has a High ranked Pokemon, 3 Medium ranked Pokemon, 3 Average ranked Pokemon, and 1 Low ranked Pokemon. Each group has been labeled a number. At the start of the tournament setup, you will choose one monster from the group that has your number. You will POST here in this thread and tell which Pokemon from the group you take. You may only take ONE. Once everyone selects one Pokemon from their group, the groups will be "passed" right. Meaning, Group 1 will go from Pink Blur to VenusaurTrainer, and Group 8 will go from Andreas to Pink blur, and etc. Now, the groups will have only 7 monsters in them, since the participants selected 1 Pokemon from the group in Draft 1. This process is continued until all Pokemon have been selected.
Now, guidelines and rules:
-To select a monster from the group, you MUST post in this thread.
-You may NOT select a monster from a group that is not in your possession for the turn.
-Item Clause is on for this tournament. Meaning, no 2 monsters on your team may have the same item.
-Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, and Time Out MUST be on for the tournament battle to count.
-PP Ups are optional
-One Hit KO moves are banned (Perish Song also)
-You are permitted 1 trade AFTER ALL DRAFTS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.
-SAVE A LOG OF YOUR BATTLES!!!
-Post here the outcomes of the battles, and I'll ask for logs if anything comes up about the correctness of the posted outcomes.
Now, you are wondering what to do with 8 Pokemon. Having 8 Pokemon basically gives you some space to mix and match your team around, while limiting you to only 2 replacements if you so wish. You can only battle with 6 at a time, but you can use any 6 of the 8 in your squad. The Item Clause is only counted for the in-battle Pokemon. If you win Round 1 in order to go on to Round 2, you may change your team. You do not have to have the same team from Round 1.
Here is the setup for the tournament:
Round 1:
1v2
3v4
5v6
7v8
After Round 1, the Casualty count will be taken. This means, the winner of each match in Round 1 will be given a number equal to the number of Pokemon remaining at the end of the battle. For example, if in a battle, the score was 6-0 at the end (meaning, the winner had all 6 Pokemon remaining, and the loser obviously had all fainted), the winner would have 6 Casualty points. So, for round 2, here is the set-up:
Round 2:
Most Casualty points vs Least Casualty points (like 6-0 vs 1-0)
2nd highest Casualty points vs 2nd lowest Casualty points (like 5-0 vs 3-0)
After Round 2, the finals will take place. The finals will be a best of 3 bout, with the winner from the previous 2 battles going at it. The first person to get 2 wins is the Mix-Match tournament champion.
In case someone must drop out of the tournament in round 1, his opponent will automatically proceed. In case someone must drop out in round 2, the loser of the drop out's round 1 battle will be removed from elimination and battle in round 2. In case someone must drop out from the finals, the person who had the most Casualty points in round 2 will go to the finals.
I'm tired at the moment, so I might have missed a few points. Questions? Concerns? Post here. Also, all participants post here ASAP so I know you still are interested. I'll have the Group Listings up tomorrow!
