Secondly: Feed your Pokemon the poffin it will like, or if that's not possible, feed it the poffin that it 'won't hate', as in it ate the poffin. When making your Poffins, make them leveled 20-21 with a feel of 24. Don't make the ones say Leppa for you only get a level 12/feel 19. Make the best ones from Figy, Iapapa, Mago, Wiki, and Aguav, those are your feel of 24 berries, but again, get the level to 21 if possible so you can max out its condition. You don't want to fall short for I fell short maxing out Raichu's condition and it BARELY won Master after 25 times so max out your Pokemon's condition.

After that, have it hold contest scarf. NEVER go into a contest without that scarf it needs. To get it: Max out the condition, go to Pastoria City, then to the house BEFORE the 'border house' that takes you on the route. The guy there will say he likes what he sees, give you the scarf for contests. Or, if you got National Pokedex, why not import your scarves from your old games by giving them to your Pal Park Pokemon that are destinated?

Then you have to analyze your Pokemon's move. Low Voltage moves like U-turn/Torment are 4 heart moves long as the judges have NO pluses. If you get big heart moves and wind up 4th, use a 4th place move that will double the 2 hearts you get, IE Woodhammer in last place gets you 2 more hearts with the 2 hearts you get for you performed it last. A move like Thunderbolt gets you 2 hearts plus 2 more IF you are the lead Pokemon in the next round.

Best of luck, hope you get success.

Since my D/P guide has the location of all contest items, all I really needed help on was about the feel of the poffins.

Thanks for the poffin info and the moves info. I still haven't entered one contest but that's because I'm thinking about the pokemon I'm going to use first. Really good info and opinions, good job.

wholy crud!!!!!!!!!! how long did it take you to write this. also this should go in the diamond/pearl guides area. ill get a mod to move this

It took me over a hour to write the rough copy, then I wrote a second one to fill in the items that I won in the contest in the balloons, professor hat, etc, and then gathering items at the massage house like the elusive Humming Note for the final copy. I got everything, except for a few minor scales, feathers, and a Spring background (I got Spring, but I purposely bumped it for I wanted Humming Note). I memorize my first page, then repeat the contest names in page two, I hold it open to page 3, and I listen if the visual is the final page. Once I hear what that visual is, I get the page set up and prepare my Stylus to move fast once I get to Master. You got like only 3 seconds per item in master to dress it up with 20 items. I also put in 'key things' to get as in if you know right away what the Pokemon needs and it's a lot of items, the faster you know your items, the quicker you can dress your Pokemon.

I would appreciate it if it not only made it to the appropriate forum to PLEASE give it a Sticky for I think all game players should have a key note in how to win in contests as I learned all this for myself. What I put down are the moves that the audience will like and these are 'high moves.'

That dude was stupid to quote all that.
Anywho... Jesus Tittyhumping Christ... how you get all that stuff!?

Items obtained come from:

Massage girl's house in Veilstone: THere are 16 random items she will 'find' on your Pokemon in massaging. If you get an item say Humming Note, and 24 hours later, you get another Humming Note, make sure you saved your game BEFORE you got the massage so that you can turn it off/on again to get another item like Eerie Thing.

Winning Pokemon contests in Cool, Beauty, Tough, Cute, and Smart. Items like Professor Hat, Barette, Balloon, Cube Stage, Glass Stage, you got to win upward to Master to obtain them.

GRowing a lot of berries and giving them to the barry girl in Floaroama to get the items like Black Specs, Googly Specs, Flowers, Standing Mike, Surfboard, Photoboard, (Go to the barry store in Floaroma, tell the girl you want to trade berries and look at all her items and note what berries you got to grow to get them.) The Durin/Pamtre/Belue berry items, you can get 15 berries a bush 3 days later after planting/growing them. And if you plant 15 berries times the 15 you get, you will get 300 berries another 3 days later. More you plant/water, more berries you get.

Crown and Tiara accessory, only if you trade from Fire Red/Leaf Green in Pal Park and see the woman on top of the stairs.

Walking your Pokemon in Amity Park to get extra berries, Scale items/mushrooms.

Talking to game characters to get Piplup Mask/Turtwig Mask/Chimchar Mask.

To see what is in your Fashion case and take mental notes, go to the Jublife TV station to the second floor, go into the room and say to the mountain man yes that you want your Pokemon photographed. Go into the room like I did and one by one, open up the accessory box and note where items are, like cape is up 3 times from my fluff, or the big scale is 2 down from my fluff, or shimmering fire is down 6 times from my fluff.

No matter what I do I can't score more than 6 hearts in the visual part. I put all high-level items on for the theme. Does doubling items lower your score? And what about covering the pokemon; does the pokemon have to be _% visible? Or what? Whatever I do I can't get more than 6 hearts! Help! :susp:

You have to feed your Pokémon poffins to increase its contest stats as much as possible. (Or pokéblocks, if you're transferring it from the 3rd gen.) Then give it the respective scarf. You'll see the difference immediately.

Anyways, what I really need to know is some good movesets for contests. It doesn't really matter what Pokémon you use, if you think about it, because you can just have a Smeargle sketch whatever you want. So what move combinations are good?

Well, I do have the scarf on the pokemon and I have fed it the correct poffins. Even after all this I still get only 6 hearts. I'm going crazy!!! Please help!

About move sets though (something I'm good with) I always try to have moves that give you 4 hearts. Like moves that give 2 hearts as a base and then you get +2 if you perform first/last. I also like using moves that give you 4 hearts if the judge you choose does not have any stars. Sometimes, I also give my pokemon a move that will double the point of your next move. Serebii.net, under the DP attackdex, lists all the moves in their respective categories. I always use that to form my move sets. Good luck.

Okay. Here are the movesets I came up with for the contests. And I didn't even need Smeargle! (I needed Deoxys, though.)

Tail Glow (Doubles the points of your next appeal)
Zen Headbutt (2 hearts; +2 if last)
Signal Beam (2 hearts; increases Voltage by 2)
Water Pulse (2 hearts; +2 if first)

Cool: Deoxys or Smeargle @ Red Scarf
Cosmic Power (Doubles the points of your next appeal)
Natural Gift (2 hearts; +2 if last)
Zap Cannon (2 hearts; increases Voltage by 2)
Thunder (2 hearts; +2 if first)

Cute: Barboach @ Pink Scarf
Amnesia (Doubles the points of your next appeal)
Frustration (2 hearts; +2 if last)
Return (2 hearts; +2 if first)
Water Gun (3 hearts; no effect)

Smart: Sableye @ Green Scarf
