This year seems to be all about the graphics (of course) and the FPS's, really.

Killzone 2 (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/1668.html) may be the rival to Halo that everybody wanted.
Resident Evil 5 (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/2036.html) has african zombies?
Resident Evil: umbrella Chronicles (http://gametrailers.com/game/3393.html)
Silent Hill 5 (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/5159.html)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/1743.html) WILL be a PS 3 exclusive, and WILL be the last one.
Call of Duty 4 (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/4735.html)
Haze (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/2682.html)
Assassin's Creed (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/2581.html)
The Simpsons (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/4804.html)
Contra 4 (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/5037.html) <-- You kids are too young to know the awesomeness that is Contra. x3
Infamous (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/5157.html)

There is also confirmation that sixaxis WILL have rumble. Those that talked with me already know about the price cut on the PS3 about a week or two ago. Those that having would have realized it by now. NEW PS3'S DO NOT HAVE THE EMOTION CHIP. I REPEAT, THE 80GB ONE IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF. IF YOU ARE GETTING A PS3, GET THE 60GB ONE, as it may (or may not) have the emotion chip. The emotion chip IS the PS2, btw.

While we're at it, PSP Slim is announced. A redesign on the PSP, it is. No, it's like basically DS lite to the DS. No real big difference, just slightly better.

Halo 3 will also have an Xbox bundle (the Halo 3 bundle), in which the Xbox looks like it's slim green or something. The announcement of this Xbox caused absolutely no uproar and nobody actually cared. At all. I think they were clapping on cue, or at least mockingly doing so in the video.

Super Mario Galaxy is coming out soon, and apparently is the true sequel to Super Mario 64. It looks great, and has the zany "bee suit" to go with it. Reminds me of the Tanooki suit, which was also zany.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.2 is also in the works. Is it just me, or are these ALL SEQUELS aside from Haze and Assassin's Creed?

Oh wait, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune's around too. It borrows heavily from resistance, Gears of War, and (obviously) Tome Raider, and it should be a good solid game.

Another Burnout (hey that franchise IS fun) is also coming, called Burnout Paradise.

Yet another Mario Party's coming out. This one's for the DS. The rest of Big N's titles were the usual: Metroid, Smash, Brain Age, etc. Oh, no Smash in 07.

The surprising lack of RPG's is interesting though. Are we just going to keep salivating at Eternal Sonata and that's it, or are we given ANYTHING more (Lineage for PS3 PERHAPS?)? Oh nvm, Fable 2. And at least a new Trauma Centre's coming out.

Anyways, this seems to be a relatively "balanced" E3 between Sony and Big N. M$ is doing terrible with basically multiplatform games and Halo 3. Big N's just shoving us with more of its genre kings. Sony has like 2 new titles that aren't sequels. Oh, the time for sequels is NOW.

Oh my god. The new MGS game looks incredible. And of course, DMC4. And I have a little soft spot for Rock Band. All look great. Of course, can't wait for Halo 3. I even have a 'Finish the Fight' background on me MySpace.

Master Chief, Dante, and Snake, can't wait for you.

I also think that the 360 is pulling ahead by a longshot.

The problem here is that Microsoft really isn't showing an impressive showing on the 360 at E3 this year, at least in comparison to the PS3 (Wii is out of discussion due to different market). We'll have to wait and see for what else is in store at E3, though. But at the moment, 360's "impressive" showing consisted of Halo and multiplatform games...

I agree. Assasin's Creed has a large wait for it along with the new Resident Evil's and SSBB. And lets not get started with Time Shift. My lord. A lot of people didn't like the old one. But the new one is definitley going to turn some head's once it comes out.

It stinks that they closed it to the public, but I will always hold a soft spot in my heart for E3. Now, as for what we've seen so far...

Assassin's Creed: All I have to say is Awwww Yeah! I've actually never even heard of it before the other night at the Microsoft thing, but one look at that demo and I was in love. Definitely a big thing for me.

Halo 3: Looked pretty sweet. The trailer was a bit of a let down for me, I was hoping we'd see some more interesting stuff, but still, it's Halo, and from what I've heard that means it will probably be good. The timing is also good because when I do get my 360 I'll be able to get the entire trilogy at once. However, I think they're being stupid by taking the Halo franchise and making accessories with it. The Halo XBox is an eyesore.

MGS4: I'm just crossing my fingers and praying to the Gods above that that battle between Jack and Vamp was gameplay footage and not a movie or a cutscene, because those moves were just... wow. That would be so fricking sweet to pull off that stabbing yourself move that Jack did right at the end of the fight. As for the first part, it painted a fairly detailed description of the game's storyline, as well as giving some insight into some of the new aspects we may see, such as an ability to do a co-op mode using Snake's teammates.

RE5: I just can't believe they're coming out with another Resident Evil game. I never particularly liked the series, but this looks fairly interesting, and I may check it out if I see a demo on the Playstation Store.

The Simpsons: Not another one! Is anyone else getting sick of Simpsons games? I mean, at first, they were decent in comparison to most other video games based off of cartoons I've seen, but the only other good video games with cartoon... scratch that, with decent television counterparts, that should continue to live is Pokemon, simply because the anime is based off of the games, and not the other way around. Simpsons is a big fat no, I do not like that they're wasting their time on another addition to a cartoon-based video game.

Infamous: You get to choose between good and evil. They get whatever rating they want me to give them. But in all seriousness, it looks like an interesting game, although I would have liked to see a little more of what the main character could do. All we really saw were lightning bolts and fancy athletics. We also got a minor peak at some big baddie who goes yet unnamed. All in all, it seemed more like a teaser to me than a trailer.

Killzone2: I was so stunned I didn't even remember what was in the trailer, although I remember that it kicked ass. I fully intend to go take another look at that trailer online, but man, I literally sat in my chair, mouth agape, completely oblivious to all that went around me for like five minutes. I had to rewind the Tivo to see what I missed. Look out Halo, you've got yourself a rival, and this one doesn't have a system recolred in it's image that is one fricking ugly color.

As for Nintendo's stuff, I think they made a fairly good presentation at their mini-expo, and enticed me to buy a Wii, if for nothing else to give me a little excercise with Wii Fit and Wii Sports.

I am also more and more drawn to Playstation Home every time I see more of it. I'm wondering if I can still sign up for this beta, or if I have to wait for the final release.

And finally, we come to Nintendo's coup de grace so far in my opinion, the almighty Super Mario Galaxy. It looks reasonably interesting, I don't think it could be considered a sequal to Super Mario 64 due to the changes in gameplay as well as the fact that they have shown no hints that you will be able to play Yoshi, Wario, or Luigi at all during the game, and in a sequal you rarely take out the ability to play as multiple different characters. There has also never been any co-op for Super Mario 64, another thing I noted. I call it more of a spin-off from SM64 as opposed to a sequal. And don't give me any crud about the storyline, because
A. I haven't heard anythign about the storyline and
B. Bowser kidnaps Peach =/= a sequal. That's the premise of almost every Mario game to date, excluding a few which were very nice changes of pace.

Yes, I agree AGAIN, this time with Eevee, ANOTHER Simpsons game? Come on! But, Eevee, there are plenty of gameplay vids on VideoGoogle, for Halo 3. As for AC, I just simply cannot wait for another great Stealth game.

A great stealth game with excellent fighting, might I add, fighting which defies all button masher logic and which relies on good timing for instant kills through counter-attacks might I add. Plus you can scale walls. I'd love to see the guy in Hitman scale sheer walls. I would also like to point out another good game I saw in the Day One spotlight last night, Heavenly Blade. It's essentially God of War, but with a hot chick instead of a body-painted buff guy. I ove it already. It's also got some pretty good dynamics, excellent animation, and you can send a giant pillar plowing into an arena by merely chopping one vine, then dive into the fray with a mythical sword of legend and use it to kill numerous bad guys in three different froms of combat. And also, again, your main character is a hot chick.

I'm not sure if anyone here has heard of Darksiders, but the game looks incredibly interesting. You get to play as one of the freaking four horsemen of Apocalypse. You play as War (the others are Famine, Pestilence, and Death) and fight against both angels and demons. You indiscriminately kill anyone who crosses your both. However, since this is after the Apocalypse, the humans are all dead, and the world is a wasteland. No human killing unfortunately. But I still can't wait for this.

IGN (http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/818/818226.html) was the only link I found and that has little to no information. Sorry.

Me niether. I also saw that, and I almost died of a heart attack in anticipation... within five minutes. I swear, that game will kill me before it's even released. So, anyway, let's take a look at some of G4's Feed Questions.

Question 1: Who do you think should be allowed into E3 this year

A. The Companies
B. The Gamers
C. The Media
D. EVERYONE!

As you can see from my caps, I say everyone should be allowed in. E3 is a big chance to showcase new games and test-run games, and by barring us out we don't get to see all of that, which is bad for their own marketing.

E3 really isn't the best place to be for news right now. I'm sure we'll get more information at the Penny Arcade Expo.

anyone else found this E3 to be extremely dissapointed? Once again, LA decided to announce nothing but crap games

Kenny_C.002

This E3 wasn't even in LA to begin with...

Anywho, the showings tend to be what caters to this market. Niche games, RPGs, etc. tend not to show up here, but will show up in the smaller shows.

I'm betting that we will get views of more third party games at E4All. Sadness is said to release a trailer there...Oh god I hope they do.

As an avid Call of Duty fan, I seriously hope they go back to WW2 gameplay and not moving on to modern warfare. Nice graphics and I'm sure the environments have been greatly improved. But I'm not a modern First Person Shooter type gameplayer.

I'm assuming that they're going ahead with modern warfare if there isn't enough of a negative reponse for it, though.

Ground-Breaker's (In my opinion): Bioshock (I think this will kill out a lot of games)
Halo 3
Turok
Blue Dragon

And many others. I think Bioshock is going to win this year. What do you guys think?

Kenny_C.002
07-24-2007, 04:59 AM
I'm actually in the Eternal Sonata camp of things when it came to Blue Dragon. And I'm really not into Dragonball Z anymore, so the whole art style of Blue Dragon is more a turn off than a turn on.

Myst3rio565
07-24-2007, 05:02 AM
LOL, I'm not a big fan of the art either, but I think it has a great storyline. Also, Star Wars: Force Unleashed, when I saw that trailer, I literally almost peed myself >.< It looked soooo AMAZING. Lucas Arts is an incredible company, and this will be one of their incredible games.

Kenny_C.002
07-24-2007, 05:09 AM
Ah true. Famitsu actually gave Blue dragon a higher score than Eternal Sonata (by a 2-point margin, out of 40), but Eternal Sonata's about Chopin. And everyone knows Chopin is cooler than everything in Blue Dragon. XD

It sounds really complex.

i'm just psyched for the N64 return of Turok. New story line, and it looks awesome! I'm also praying that they bring on a new Conker...They left the game hanging. Lets all hope for one. I loved that little sick squirrel, lol.
