No and no, since it would be extremely hard to make it work exactly like Super Smash Bros.

I do not see it ever happening.

If it did however, I would buy it.

if they could pull it off right it would be amazing. Which they could, since the DS has the same buttons as the Gamecube, except for the "Z" button, though it's not used much anyways.

Wifi SSB anyone?

Competitive SSBM players usually just use the shield button + A anyway to grab.

Yep, that's how i remember it. So it could work fine.

Of course, i was the wierd one. I'm the only guy i know who used the x/y buttons to jump and the z button to grab (after a dodge of course) i pwned anyway.

Not always. I can think of situations where the z button is used in competitive battling. They aren't exactly common, but they are there. Shield grabbing (R + A) is different from grabbing (Z) all together anyway.

X/Y are required simply because you need it for shuffling, though I am not sure on the sensitivity of the DS on this one. You also can't use tilts in a DS version, as well.

You guys do know that they where originally going to make one but canned it for some reason. Perhaps due to Jump Ultimate stars since it would be similar. Maybe it was to start brawl or whatever too but I do hope that nintendo starts the project again.

I mentioned this in the "Game Hype" thread and a thread spawned out of it.
All I know for sure is that the Director of Brawl hinted that a "handheld version of SSB was not out of the question".

They could make it like that one Japanese-only game: that one with naruto and bobo and those :D

Jump Ultimate stars is the one your thinking of and again I think the game is why the idea was scraped for the time being. Still I would love a super smash for the DS since it would most likely come here unlike jump ultimate which has about a zero percent chance due to copyright issues.

I still recomend jump Ultimate for you guys though because with the propper translator it is a great game and has wifi.

I honestly think it'd be a great idea. There's not too many fighting games for the DS, and something as popular as SSB, many people would purchase it.

I, for one, would.

I think a large flaw is the lack of an 8-way analog stick, meaning that control isn't going to be quite as great.

However, the SSB series is total <3, so I would buy it. It also seems simple enough to make it, as all the other SSB games have been 2-D games with 3-D graphics, something the DS pwns at.
