IMPORTANT NOTES:
All entries will be due one week from today, or July 31.
We are in need of judges! We currently have 0 out of 2 judges necessary.
It will be a single round contest. In which your sprite will be graded by our panel of judges as outlined below. As well as put up for the popular vote, where every vote your sprite receives will add 1 point to your total score.
Every forum member is allowed to vote for any sprite they wish; even their own if that's the one they like best.
In this contest you may use existing sprites to 'Frankenstein' an entry. But I would encourage you to scratch as much of it as you can. As that will be more "original" and net you more points ultimately.
Contestants may turn in up to 2 different entries, unless we have 10 or more participants in which case I can only allow 1 entry per person. Also, there may not be more than 20 entries total. If more than 20 entries are received it will be at my discretion as to which entries are cut from the competion based on which ones I believe have the least chance of placing. I'm sorry.
The final draft of your sprite that you turn in for judging is only to include your new sprite, nothing else, no side-by-side comparison to it's evolution, and no sprite towers please.
Sprites will be judged on a 1 to 10 scale in the following 3 categories.
Color: Which covers how well the colors chosen work with the sprite & the shading of the sprite.
Composition: In the case of Frankenstiened or Semi-frankenstiened sprites this category will judge how cohesive the constituate parts are (how well it's put together) & how difficult we think it was to make the monster.
And... in the case of scratch this category covers: line art, pose, anatomy, proportion, & difficulty.
Originality: How inventive and interesting the sprite is as a whole.
Naturally scratched sprites will garner more points in this category than entries made from existing sprites, but if your entry is inventive enough it really won't hurt you too much at all here.
We will also use this category to determine how well the sprite fits into the Pokemon universe. Does it really look like it could be a Pokemon?
