About lightning-rod

I've got a Rhyhorn with lightning-rod, but I don't know how does it works.
I was using my Ninetales{Hellfire by the way} on my first spot and my Rhyhorn on my third spot, then a Magnemite attacked my Hellfire with Spark and I thought that Rhyhorn's ability should draw Magnemite's Spark and then that move shouldn't cause any damage to my Hellfire but it DIDN'T! Why's that? :think:
Another question, Can anybody tell me how pokemon natures works? :think:

Well, it could be one of two reason:

1) It functions like Drought and Drizzle, meaning you must send Rhydon out first.

2) It only works during 2-On-2 Battles.

As for Natures, they affect the stat gains of your Pokemon.

Heres something with natures!Remember it only increases/decreases with 10% only of the Stat!

Abilities do not have any relevance with stats.
