Well I have copleted the 30 events but I thought there was like 40 or somethin' and and it won't let me go any farther? How do I get to the other events?

IIRC, you have to unlock every character and the events will unlock themselves.

Edit: I realized you had just completed 30, so I checked gamefaqs. :D

Unlock Luigi, Falco, and Young Link and beat Trophy Tussle 2 to get Events 30-39 in the Event Mode.
