Idea time!!

This thing has quite good base stats, but very importantly can learn Earth Power. What kinda role would this guy have?? I think:

Nidoking @ Leftovers
252 HP, 64 Atk, 64 Sp Atk, 64 Def, 66 Sp. Def
Brave/Quiet/Relaxed/Sassy/Neutral Nature

Earth Power
Sucker Punch
Thunderbolt/Ice Beam
Brick Break/Stone Edge

OR

Nidoking @ Choice Scarf/Life Orb??
192 Atk, 192 Sp. Atk, 128 Spd
Neutral Nature

Earth Power
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Stone Edge

Lots of moves for a mixed Nidoking, let me list some:

Toxic Spikes
Poison Jab (STAB)
Megahorn
Sub-Punch
Surf
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Flamethrower
Shadow Ball
Shadow Claw
Earthquake (STAB)
Earth Power (STAB!)
Brick Break
Sludge Bomb (STAB)
Focus Blast
Dragon Pulse
Stone Edge
Avalanche
Sucker Punch.

Eek. At least you have surprise on your side!! :surp:

Weak to Psychic, Water, Ice, Ground, hence Sucker Punch, Ice Beam, Tbolt, SE. Those weaknesses have nothing in common though, save Water/Ground, but 'king has no Grass moves.

Help!! Too many moves/ideas!!!

Mini-Boah wouldn't be as good considering Blissey can break Subs with Seismic Toss. Not really fond of the TS/SR set.

Apologies for double-post but I just noticed something.

Fighting - Brick Break
Dark - Sucker Punch
Ground - Earth Power
Ice - Ice Beam

That combo covers 14/17 types (Excluding Water, Fighting and Bug). Woah. Is it possible to have a type combination that is Super-Effective against all types?? Or indeed, any more than 14??

I know fighting is good against 5 types, ice 4, Ground 4, Fire 4, Rock 4.

Rock/Ground covers more than Fighting/Ground. You get bug like that, but you lose Normal. Normal isn't important anyways. Earthquake > Earth Power on a mixed. Stone Edge over Brick Break in that set.

EDIT: You also lose Dark...

I'd say Normal is more important than Bug, because most bugs are mixed types, with Steel or Poison and such.

Earth Power > Earthquake. This is the main reason I bothered with a Nidoking at all. Earth Power is special, meaning it hits lots of things much harder than EQ, like all those Rock/Ground Physical Walls, and particularly Metagross.

Sorry if it sounds rude, I don't mean to be.

Oh, that was your thinking behind Earth Power. Well stay with the set you have. If you want a type combination that's super effective on everything, I'll come up with one... but Nidoking most likely can't learn it.

EDIT: Ice/Fighting/Ground/Flying takes 15/17. Water and Psychic remain...

Sorry, Ghost is also left with that combo, so another 14/17 combo, but nice find. I'm sure there is one.

I've come to a conclusion.

Fighting, Ground, and Ice (or Dragon, but...) are needed to cover Normal, Electric, and Dragon. That's 12/17, and there's no type that covers the last 5. Water, Fighting, Psychic, Bug, Ghost.

Yep. Ghost covers two, Dark covers two, Flying covers two, but that's about it :( Well, we were close. lol.
