Here's how it works: I will name a Pokemon and four moves, and then I will name the Pokemon it's fighting and you will have to choose which of your Pokemon's four attacks would be most effective against the Pokemon you're battling. If there are two moves your Pokemon could use, then choose the one that would be the better of the two. Let's start!

Your Pokemon: Blastiose
Attacks: Surf, Skull Bash, Earthquake, Bite

Your Opponent: Aggron

FinalThunder
03-03-2005, 08:58 PM
Blastiose
use earth quake on Aargon.

Did i do it right?

Dog of Hellsing
03-03-2005, 09:05 PM
Yups, you got it! Surf would have only been effective against Aggron's Rock-type, but Earthquake gets x4 damage by playing on Aggron's Steel/Rock weaknesses. ^_^ Now you can either make one up or I can do another. And as you can tell, for everyone of these I make up, I'll give the reason for the correct answer like I just did.

03-04-2005, 09:49 AM
Make that a Low Kick.

Your pokemon: Octillery
Psybeam, Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Octazooka

Opponent: Thick Fat Miltank

That would be Octazooka because of STAB, unless you want to go with a more accurate psybeam. Ice beam and FT would only do 50% damage because of thick fat.

Your pokemon: Grumpig
Psychic, Shadow Ball, Iron Tail, Double-Edge

Your enemy: Gengar

FinalThunder
03-04-2005, 11:06 AM
Psychic, on gengar!

duh it probably knock it out since it is not a dark type.

Why does Karen of the elite four in the g/c/s had Gengar in her party if she likes dark pokemon?

Dog of Hellsing
03-04-2005, 07:08 PM
Well, since you didn't give a scenario, I'll put another one.

Your Pokemon: Aggron
Attacks: Rock Tomb, Thunder, Ice Beam, Iron Tail

Your Opponent: Areodactyl

FinalThunder
03-04-2005, 07:53 PM
I would say ice beam because ice beam will hit more than thunder plus it is a dragon type.

You:Mewtwo
Psychic, Zap Cannon, Blizzard,Fire Blast

OPpenet:Sneasel

Hariken4
03-04-2005, 08:52 PM
I say it barely matters what you choose except for Psychic.

Zap - Special, PRZ, Low Accuracy, High Power
Blizzard - Special, FRZ, Low Accuracy, High Power
Blast - Special, BRN, Low Accuracy, High Power

And none of them are SE or NVE against Darkness.

Which two attacks would make an effective combo from a Magneton to a Pidgeot?

Lock-On
Thunder
Thunder Wave
Tri Attack

FinalThunder
03-04-2005, 08:57 PM
Lock on and thunder.

Actually Blast would work because it is part ice type or is it part flying?

Hariken4
03-04-2005, 09:05 PM
Oh, I guess I didn't see that. Sorry about that. I guess FB is more effective.

You're Pokemon is Blastoise and your opponent's is Venusaur. Venusaur has just absorbed energy for a Solar Beam and will unleash it next turn. What attack would you use?

Hydro Pump
Protect
Rain Dance
Withdraw

FinalThunder
03-04-2005, 09:58 PM
Protect be a good idea or switching the pokemon to a fire type or a another stronger grass pokemon.

You are battling Kyogre and you're groudan and which move would move will you use? and Groudan has only one hp left

Earthquake, Fireblast, Thunder, Thunderbolt

Megahorn. Fire Blast would work too, but Rhydon has low SpAtk.

Swellow
-Aerial Ace

Pokemon: Hitmontop

Aerial Ace would be the right move (Fighters are weak to Flying ^_^) Now then, choose the correct two attacks for this scenario:

Your Pokemon: Blissey
Attacks: Brick Break, Softboiled, Defense Curl, Rollout

Your Opponent: Salamence

FinalThunder
03-08-2005, 09:32 PM
I'll use soft boil and brick break

or soft boil and rollout.

Depends on salamence's hp.

You're wrong here, you were battling Kyogre, so it was raining, meaning Thunder would be just as accurate as Thunderbolt.

This game was based on attacks ... stick to the rules. But anyway, if Sneasel has a decent ice-type move you should send him. If it doesn't, you should send Gengar and blow yourself. And btw, go away with your levels.

You should have gone with Rollout. With Blissey's immense HP AND Softboiled, Seismic Toss will never ever kill it. Dynamicpunch is indeed too inaccurate, and Attract will never work, because Miltank and Blissey are both always female. Rollout is fair enough, because Blissey has crap Defense and even if it uses Softboiled, the fifth time base power is ... uhm ... 640. Yeah, that's cool. And even if that 640 Rollout won't finish it, odds are that Blissey's HP will be down below 100, so you can Seismic Toss then, considering you're quicker than Blissey.

Okay, real quick, when I posted the Blissy the combo was Defense Curl+Rollout, so Wikemike was right ^_^. As for this scenario, Steel has resistence to Dragon, Grass, Normal, and Dark type attacks, so really there is no most effective move to use against a Forry with this moveset. So I'm beat O_o lol. BTW, Softboiled restores HP, it doesn't do damage. You're thinking of that one move whose name I can't remember >_> lol.

STAB stands for Same Type Ability Bonus. If a pokemon uses an attack of which the type is the same as the pokemon, it get's a 50% bonus. Say, Houndoom uses Crunch. Crunch base power is 80, STAB will make that 120.

So in this case, Sludge Bomb, that has the highest base power and get's STAB.

I don't think that this attack is in the games, but in the tv series skitty uses it. It takes ramdomly an attack of the pokemons that you have in your team party and use it. That is the reason that I put bannete with Shadow Ball.

Psychic, because Doom Desire is a Steel Type move and Fire has resistence to Steel. OR you could use Rain Dance to lower the power of its Fire attacks, but it wouldn't really do much good.
