I can't believe I just realized this but Deoxy is the first part of DNA. Is that where Deoxys came from (most likely...) if so, why did the choose that name for this monkey-like Pokemon? Anyone know? By the way, for all u ppl who don't know, DNA stands for DeoxyriboNucleicAcid! :clap: go me!

Well, the ruby pokedex info states the following:
"The DNA of a space virus underwent a sudden mutation upon exposure to a laser beam and resulted in DEOXYS. The crystalline organ on this POKéMON's chest appears to be its brain."
That's most likely why. ^^

I knew Deoxys was a Space Virus mutation, but i never realised where its name came from till now lol... I do know where Absol got its name from though; the word Absolution, meaning "Total power", which explains Absols extremely high attack...

Most of us people, like me, already know this. DNA = Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid. Well, therefore, his name comes fro DNA. Very simple :smile:

About Absol's name meaning, this was my understanding:
Sol = Sun
Ab = Prefix meaning 'opposite'
Absol = opposite of sun, or 'dark.' It is a Dark Pokemon, after all. :wink:
I didn't even know you could get deoxy on R/S.
I only thought you could get it on FR/LG/WB.
