Prologue:
I ran my claws through my headfur, checking, in the sheen of the elevator glass that I was presentable.
Dressed only in a brand-new tuxedo, I thought I looked rather dashing, but if I was going to succeed, Ruphert only needed me to look like I was on his side of things.
I checked my watch, it was almost Noon. I always had to be on time, there was some little clock inside me that made sure I always was. Sometimes I wondered if I would explode if I was late once.
The little numbers lit up one, by one, slowly rising until... DING! Floor 7...
My Mission: Infiltrate the Mole, Ruphert's, Base and find out his plans.
Percentage of Succeeding: Pretty Much 0.
"Good... Afternoon Mr..." The large Mole, Ruphert drawled from his makeshift throne on the other side of the chamber.
"Mr. Emphurmal," I replied, smoothering my hair with some grease I had stuck to my palm.
Ruphert waved a digging claw to motion me over, "Mr... Emphurmal... Welcome to my quarters, I believe you have business?" He said in a husky voice that rolled over my being like velvet.
Trying not to shudder, I nodded, "Yes Lord Ruphert," I replied.
The Mole looked my up and down, it was as if he could detect electronic devices and was trying to find something on me.
Sorry, I forgot to explain everything.
My name is really Agent 57-89 (Pronounced; Fifty Seven, Eighty Nine) I work for a Secret Service centered in New York. I am a wolf. Six feet one inch, Grey fur. White underbelly and throat. I was trained ever since birth to occupy this role, seek out master criminals... Go undercover... Make them feel ever so safe... And then swipe the rug right out from under their scummy paws.
"Mr. Emphurmal..." Ruphert drawled.
"Yes Lord Ruphert?" I replied, noting his ability to remember my rather complex guise-name.
"What's the password?" He growled in a silky voice.
I blinked, "Password sir?" I tried to act normal. Oh I tried so hard...
Ruphert noticed thr gleam of intelligence in my eyes, "Yes Agent... Password..." He rolled the last word over his tongue, making it come out in a hiss.
I swallowed nervously, this was going perfectly to plan... "P... P... P... Pass...Word... Sir?" I stammered.
Ruphert sneered, thinking he had won, "Yes Agent," He sneered, his little eyes crinkling, "The Ppppp Password!"
I made myself recoil, "I do not know of what you speak..." I mumured, trying to steady my voice, I was such a good actor...
"Oh really? Maybe this will refresh your memory..." Ruphert growled, pouring himself a glass of wine from a jewled decanter.
I waited patiently for his next move.
"Guards!" Ruphert snapped.
Five, large foxes appeared in the doorway behind me, their muscles bulged beneath their uniforms.
"Take him away," Ruphert waved his claws airily, as if flicking away a speck of dust.
I grinned inwardly, this was going perfectly well! But I couldn't get cocky... I must stay on my guard!
"What? Wh... Wh... What's going on?" I cried, etching panic into my voice.
"Take him down below ground," Ruffert smiled, "I'll talk with him in a moment..."
I shivered in fear, this was where most agents failed. Ruphert Ballermol had a strange, almost hypnotic way with his eyes and his voice. Many of the weak minded collapsed and bowed to him, I swore that I wouldn't do that.
I was 'escorted' down into the basement level of the building. There, the fox guards chained me up and flung me into a metal cage, to await Ruphert.
"Have fun Emphurmal," A fox sniggered on his way out.
Something was wrong, how did that fox know my name? He shouldn't be able to remember the half molespeech name! Bucking wildly, I strained at my chains, something went wrong, I was too cocky and something slipped past me...
The elevator gave a sharp ding and the doors opened. I stared through fevered eyes at my tormentor, "What do you want with me?" I panted, sweat streaming from every pore under my fur.
Ruphert wrinkled his nose, it would have been comical, had he not held a long knife and a bullwhip, "Tell me all," He whispered silkily, brandishing the weapons in front of my face.
I glared at him, "You can stick a thousand needles of firey pain in me, but I won't..." I roared.
Ruphert cut me off, "Let me guess... But you won't tell? Oh... You'll tell... No one has resisted me... Ever..."
I swallowed and my belly rumbled with hunger. Ruphert laughed, it was an evil sound, coming from an evil mole.
"See?" He chuckled, "Even your body gives you away..." He turned away and fiddled with something on a tray.
Turning around again, he dangled the object in my face, "So... I heard you had pizza for dinner last night..." He said airly, waving the chicken strips in my face.
My mouth watered, I longed to grab for the meat, swallow it whole, tell him everything, so that he'd give me more...
My conscience slapped me, "How dare you even think about betraying the whole agency! And over a piece of filthy meat... It's probably poisoned!" It reasoned with me.
"Don't listen... Just focus on my voice..." Ruphert's haunting chant burrowed into my mind.
"Listen to my voice... My voice... My voice..." The words echoed around my head.
"No escape..." Ruphert murmured softly in my ear, unlocking the chains that bound me.
"You are mine..." The velvet voice of gold whispered and my brain began to slumber...
"Mine..." Ruphert hissed, unlocking the cage door.
"Focus on my voice... You are mine... No Escape..." Ruphert murmured softly, releasing me from my prison.
My eyes went blank and glassy, "I am yours... Master," I whispered.
Ruphet patted my head almost lovingly, "Your mind was easy to break," He scoffed.
"I am glad," I murmured softly.
"You have no emotion!" Ruphert snapped suddenly, "You are mine! Release your emotions, you belong to me now!"
I felt something slip away from my sub consciousness. And now I felt empty. Ruphert's voice was the only thing that mattered now...
"You are mine..." The final phrase was warped into my mind.
My mind drooped and I slumped forward, but somehow still managing to stay upright, "I am yours..." I whispered through a thick fog.
"Follow me slave!" Ruphert snapped, beckoning me through the doors of the elevator.
The ride up was tense, somehow, I felt it...
"Master?" I asked.
"What?" Ruphert snapped irritably.
Whatever I was about to say, rolled off my tongue, I had no emotions now. All that mattered was Ruphert.
"What?" Ruphert repeated, stabbing at the level 3 button.
"I am sorry Master, I seem to have forgotten, all that matters is you..." I whispered, a dead husk.
"Yes, yes," Ruphert muttered impatiently, stabbing the button again.
I fell to the floor suddenly, not knowing why. Seeing Ruphert on the floor, it suddenly clicked, the elevator had stopped! This interfered with my Master, so it had to be important.
"Fix it!" Ruphert ordered, ripping out the plating to the wall of the elevator and pointing at the wiring.
Hotwiring the elevator didn't take long, it was what he wanted...
Ruphert tapped his paws irritably as the elevator seemed to take an infinitely long time to get the the third level. Finally, the little bell dinged and the doors opened.
"Over there," Ruphert snapped, pointing to a set of scales.
I obediently stepped onto them and the little meter recorded my weight. Ruphert jutted it down, along with a few more notes.
"There," He drawled and pointed to a little measured portion of the wall.
I obeyed his orders and finally, after a few more notes, we were done. Ruphert had a kindly smile on his face now, as he led me to some double doors at the other end of the measuring room.
"I will visit later," He murmured fondly and shoved me in.
Nothing seemed to matter now that he was gone. A whole crowd of other animals surrounded me, working in the little gym, playing cards and reading in the small aclove chambers in the sides of the walls.
I went and sat down absently in an aclove. A small recording came on, it was Ruphert.
"Greetings slave number 5789," The recording drawled, "You have been assigned the task of reading, materials will be available for borrowing at 3. Please note that time." The recording cut off with a snap and I sat there, watching the clock for the next 2 hours as the seconds ticked by...
Tick... Tick... Tick...
Bong... Bong...
Two O'Clock...
Tick... Tick... Tick...
Bong... Bong... Bong...
Three O'Clock.
At the last bong, I was out of my seat and waiting patiently at the doorway, with a few others. A moment later, Ruphert himself came, wheeling a trolley loaded with books.
"Take three books, that will be your task for this month. Memorize them and then you will write an essay on each one, the book again, word for word... I will be back in 30 days..." Ruphert whispered and left the trolley behind.
Some strange voice whispered to me, That this was a pointless endeavour and I was meant to be doing something... Else...
The voice was silenced. I was happy. I had something to do. And Ruphert was all that mattered...
Ok, that was kinda spooky, but it was something! Came from a random sentence from DragonLovaFlygon 101's WW2 thread in the Fanfics!
