View Full Version : Has your game battery died yet.

Well, if you didnt already know, theres a nickel-shaped battery in the R/S/E game packs.
I've had mine for a long time now, but nope, still hasn't died. I believe the battery was meant for saving memory and the time thingy in pokemon. The gameboy didn't have memory, so data could not be saved on to it.
i knew nothing about this and my game is still runningso i guess ithasn't run out

My game battery hasn't died yet. The only time I think it would die is when the game has been played for 10+ years. The games have been out since 2003. I have had Ruby and Sapphire since it came out. I have 5 years on the battery so 5 more long life years.

I've lost a Blue and a Gold, but not a Ru/Sa/Em. I think the Advanced and DS batteries are a lot better.

hmm..i think the gba batteries were built so they lasted for a long time. BTW, ds ones don't have batteries, the ds itself already has some physical memory.

The RSE batteries die?! Oh, this is sad.
My batteries for my Emerald haven't died yet, thankfully.

Actually, the batteries on R/S/E only control the what time it is. Once it runs out, you can't grow berries and all time-related events will no longer work (like the Shoal Cave), so you will NOT lose your save file once it dies.
And once it dies, you can repair the battery if you have Pokemon FR/LG/E, 2 Gameboys, and a Link Cable.

It is very simple. Just follow this (http://www.serebii.net/pokemon_advance/berry.shtml) guide.

None of mine have, but my brother's Emerald might have. All of his berries he planted don't grow, and he has a clear-out sale all the time. He's been playing for over 600 hours, so that might be why.

Wait that is called the berry glitch. It happens to some games. It stops time events, like berries and the blow out sales. Lucky for him, it happend when the blow out sale was happening

A friend of mine has a Pokemon Ruby and when you are going to play it says something about the battery but you can still play the game!!!!

01-13-2008, 04:55 PM
yeap its called the beryy glitch...you can fix it by linking to a gamecube pokemon game [forgot which one] or linking to leafgreen or firered. I think it transfers a little power to last a few more years?
Crystal king
01-14-2008, 10:50 PM
*Sigh* My Ruby AND Sapphire have lost all their power so i have the berry glitch....I also thought if you transfered Jirachi over from the Colloseum bonus disk it would completely get rid of the problem....but i tried it and it didn't work. on the up side my game sometimes has the glitch gone, maybe thats a glitch!

My old Sapphire game, after a while, just couldn't save anymore. All my saved files were automatically deleted, I had to leave the gameboy on a charger during the night when I didn't play it. XD Not the best idea, but I didn't do it for long. I got a new Sapphire after about a year of the save file dead and.. well.. that one got deleted by my stupid, clueless friend. >_<

I only knew that there was a saving glitch thingy in g/s/c. My silver died and my brother's, (llama commando) gold died. I only had like 30 hours on the thing! So that's nowhere near 600!!!! I just don't know why it gave so early. I had around 350 hours on my ruby though.(and it still works)

GBA-games have recharging batteries. Recharging happens, when you play, so you should just play sometimes or even have the game on.
None of my batteries haven't died, but Ruby's could die pretty soon, because I don't play it at all.

Yeah, the key to pokemon games seems to be leaving them on while they're charging in a GBA SP. This prevents the internal battery from dying or something.
I have some old games that are still perfectly fine and I credit this method.

Red: Dead: Can't save because, one, it's a fake, and two, I accidently caught a Missing Uno
Yellow: Works: But if I don't touch it for a long time, it eventually resets
Gold: Daed: Broke after I used the Game Shark, curses
Crystal: Works: This one is in 100% condition
Sapphire: Works: Same thing as Yellow, except this one is a fake, so I can't migrate Pokemon

not for ruby, sapphire or emerald, but it often happens now for
pokemon gold and silver. my brother's died in his gold version.
he replaced it, but it wasnt facined. so every time it shifted, it deleated his
file. with a gameshark, he was able to retrieve bits of info from his corrupt
files, but not enough to play them, unfortunatally.
same thing for ruby sapphire and emerald. but i believe you can retrieve
more info if that happens on these games. you'd have to hack it though,
ofcoarse. but i wouldnt consider it as hacking in a bad way. if your save
file is corrupt to where it actually deleats your old file, you ARE able to get
it all back. itd take some work though. and you need the right kind of battery.
--thats a given, though. lol

Lol there has been many threads like these in tthis forum.Well the cartridge's battery helps you to save your game.Once the battery is run out, your safe file will be deleted and other new gsave file wont save.To fix this just buy a battery of the same code(cant remember whats the no. of the battery)and carefully detach the battery and place the knew one in,though you will have to start a new game.So if you have used for probably 3 years, then prepare for the worst.
