Voldemort is the name on everyone's mind. At the beginning of the summer, the Ministry Of Magic finally confirmed that he was indeed alive. This announcement was followed by mass panic in the wizard world. Over the months that followed, Voldemort's power increased as his followers returned to his command. But perhaps the most frightening thing of all is the fact that since then, he's disappeared into the shadows again. Nobody knows what he's planning to do next. Summer has now ended, and as you stand on Platform 13 1/2, waiting to board the Hogwarts Express, you can't help but wonder what the next school year has in store.

Will you even live to see next summer?

Description: Tall, slender, long silky blonde hair with a somewhat brown tint in some areas, sparkling blue eyes, fair skin. Mainly wears old, cheap robes and clothing.
Personality: Nice and warm-hearted in general. Very willing to lend a helping hand. However, despite a usually nice appearance, can get aggravated and have slight temper flares around people who won't listen. Although, usually manages to think things through and realize it's not a bit deal before going over the edge. Slightly evys people with new robes, and often wonders how they could afford something so nice.
History: Only child from a muggle family that still doesn't fully believe magic exists. The family in general is very poor, and lives off of whatever money can be earned through the hard work they do. However, has a secretly rich father who is a complete miser. He doesn't want to spend a penny of his fortune, so he doesn't tell anyone he has it. Her mother, on the other hand, is thankful of everything she has.
Other: Is scared of candy generally eaten by wizards and will only eat muggle brands of candy. If could be given any gift, it'd be money to help support her parents, and maybe save up to buy a new robe and a few other items for herself with part of the money (If only she knew her father's secret...)

History: Muggle father, mother is a witch. Pretty well off money-wise, but they used to be really poor when her mother was out of work (but she would prefer no one knew about that).
Other: Favorite class is Transfiguration, hates DADA. Thinks that everyone is blowing this whole Voldemort thing way out of preportion. Even if he was back, everyone knows all about him now, so it should be easy to catch him.

History: She's a pureblood, with an average amount of money and a decent home-life. Her parents constantly scold her for befriending children of muggle ancestory, but she never listens.
Other: Is trying her hardest to do well in school, but academics are never her main concern. Her social life and her adventures are much more important and her main goal at Hogwarts is to someday learn to be an animage.

Desciption: Petite and slim, she has pale skin and flowing, reddish-brown hair that cascades past her shoulders and forms a curtain in front of her face that hides her liquid aquamarine eyes and falls almost to her chin.
Personality: Thoughtful and highly intelligent, she avoids speech and eye contact unless essential, when she is in her regular form. Dangerous if crossed. Under various disguises she assumes different personalities, being talented in accents and acting.
History: Her childhood was spent in an impregnable fortress out to sea on a small, unplottable island to the north, brimming with the dark and dangerous. All of her family have been very dark wizards, purebloods and ancestors of Salazar Slytherin at that. Voldemort's mother herself was closely related to Lorelei's father, every single witch and wizard in the family having passed through Slytherin house at Hogwarts. She is the first to have broken this chain, and was disowned by the family as soon as they heard. Her childhood was spent in a hidden mansion, but now has been granted permission by Dumbledore to make her home in the forbidden forest.
Other: She's a Morphmagus, able to change her appearance at will. She is also a parselmouth, as it runs in her little-known family, but has yet to discover the skill. Her first wand (made by Ollivanders) is 11 1/2 inches, Californian Redwood and Ramora dorsal fin, flexible and ideal for dealing with magical creatures. Her second wand (thought to have been used by Slytherin himself, found in a black velvet case in the cellar of her house labelled so) is 14 inches, slender, with a pointed tip, black locust wood and crushed Basilisk fang and very powerful, especially for cursework. The first is the only wand she uses on a regular basis.

History: His parents are Jenna & Craig. He has two sisters (who are twins), named Alyssa & Kira. They are Year 6 Ravenclaws. They are both really smart, making him look like nothing. He did well enough with Year 1, but he made no friends, he was a reject (but at least no one bullied him). Hoping for a new beginning this year.

Wears Black Glasses (Short Sighted) and has a long square head. Is about 6'0 and 14 stone. (196 lbs) Is fairly agile for his size and enjoys fighting. Especially with Slytherins.
Personality: Often seems short tempered, may come across as a real b**tard. When he does feel like speaking whilst not in a bad mood (Very rarely in good mood) he is usually shy unless talking with someone he knows and trusts. Is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in, and will go to any lengths to get his view heard
History: The son of two squibs, Andrii and Yvonna Crystowski. They moved all over the world for 8 years so he never got any friends until he came to Hogwarts. His parents never thought he'd get in. Due to moving a lot he learned a lot of different fighting techniques from different places so is good at defending himself and others. When his family finally settled he was teased by other kids about his 'Black Eyes', he soon settled that by knocking out the biggest bully and getting a 7 day suspension. His brother and sister resent him as they have no power.
Other: Is an Animagus, he transfigures into a large brown bear.

Yeah ... Err, the grounds are pretty big, considering that they contain a forest, lake and quidditch pitch. The only distance we're given is that the lake is 1/4 of a mile away from the castle (correct me if I'm wrong...).

As everyone knows what house they're in, I'm starting this just after the sorting, when the feast appears. I don't have much time, but I can't keep you waiting any longer. x_x

As the last first year scuttled over to the Ravenclaw table to polite applause, a buzz of expectant chatter began to fill the air. The magnificent Hogwarts Great Hall was full of schoolchildren fresh from the summer holidays, discussing their vacations or staring up at the star-spotted ceiling in wonder or mere boredom. Lorelei twirled a wand between long, pale fingers as she stared up at the high table, waiting for the start-of-term banquet to begin. Scanning the row of teachers seated along its far side, she realised with a small surprise that Dumbledore's armchair was vacant. He'd probably be back to eat, though. It wouldn't be like Dumbledore to miss one of the most important feasts of the year... As she watched, Professor McGonagall stood up, clearing her throat loudly. The hall quickly fell silent as students turned to look up at the head of Gryffindor house. A couple of small whispers broke out as other students noticed the absence of their headmaster. Professor McGonagall's hawk-like eyes swept the hall once more, before she spoke.

"Good evening, students. As the first years have now been sorted (and I hope that each of you will make your house proud in your time at Hogwarts), the start-of-term banquet will now begin. After you have eaten, we will have a couple of announcements to make. For now though, take your fill."

With her last words, food had materialised suddenly onto the platters running down the centre of each table. Lorelei turned to a vessel in front of her carrying thick slices of some reddish-coloured meat, brushed her hair out of her eyes and began to load her plate as others around her did the same.

As Professor McGonagall's words ended, Matt sighed and began to eat. He didn't speak, as he had no one to talk to. His only friend, Mable, hadn't arrived at the seat he had saved for her yet.

"I hope she gets here soon, it's so boring to be alone here!" Matt thought. Some people began to speak to him, and he replied back, and he smiled. He loved his house, Hufflepuff, because of their kindness.

Madison turned back towards her table following Professor McGonagall's brief statement. She didn't think too much about the announcements that were happening after the meal, rather, she was simply happy to be eating after the long train ride.

However, she was slightly worried about Professor Dumbledore. Of course, she noticed that she wasn't the only one. Everyone in the hall seemed a bit anxious.

"I'm sure it's nothing," she attempted to reassure herself.

Trying to hide her worry, she dug into the food that appeared before her and joined in on the conversation at the Gryffindor table.

*As Keith Came Lastly to the Ravenclaw table he heard the words of Profesor McGonagal. After the speach was over he started to dig in. It was great being in Ravenclaw, because all the people put in Ravenclaw where tought of as "Smart".

*I noticed that Dumbledore wasn't there. I hid my anxiousness to here that announcement, and started to eat a banana. I wasn't really that hungry. I started to scan the tables, not sure what for. Maybe some new friends, maybe a first year who I might like to help out that was getting picked on by older people, or maybe even for someone who I might like to have as a girlfriend.*

*I still wasn't quite sure as to what I was scanning for, but I stopped, and laid back, waiting for the announcements and what was going on with Dumbledore not being there. I looked up to Proffessor McGonnagol. I tried to look into her eyes as to maybe see some clues to the answer to the question, where was Dumbledore? But she was looking down at the floor.*

Jendayi glanced around the dinning hall observing the new students and their behaviors, just as she had done every other year. Every year since her first at Hogwarts, the new batch of students seemed to get better and better. However, this year it was the quite the contrary. It seemed as though the majority of new students had been sorted into Slytherin. Usually, the number sorted into each house was even. Furthermore, there seemed to be less returning students at the tables than usual, which was odd. Why wouldn't all the students be returning? Although Jendayi, who had never been good at identifying people, could not tell which students were missing.

"Hopefully this isn't a sign of what's ahead this year," Jendayi thought to herself, "Luckily, the new students in the other houses seem fine. Perhaps even some of the Slytherin 1st years will be fine too, for once."

After she finished looking at the over-filled Slytherin table she glanced over to Gryffindor's. Her eyes darted back and forth as if they were looking for something. Finally her eyes settled on what she was looking for -- Harry Potter. To many at the school, he had become no different than any other student. Although, to her, he was still the famous Harry Potter mentioned in all the books. Jendayi, in a way, fancied him from afar, even though she had never spoken to him. More than anything, she was simply too shy to approach him. If only Jendayi had more confidence, she would have approached him on her first day of school at Hogwarts. As her eyes dashed up to Harry's face she could see worry in his eyes. He definitely was not into this feast. Instead it looked as though he was seriously talking to his good friend Ron.

"Funny," Jendayi thought, "I wonder what's wrong."

Without any further observation of the hall, Jendayi turned back towards the table and began to dish up what was left of the first course onto her plate. All summer she had hardly eaten anything, due to lack of money to buy food with, but now she hardly seemed hungry at all. As far as she could tell, something was seriously wrong. She had no idea what this could be, but certainly it was not some small thing. Although, based on her observations, this was probably going to be one of the last joyous moments for a while, so Jendayi cleared her minds of such thoughts and looked across the Hufflepuff table. Matt was sitting there. She did not know him too well because he was a year younger, but, as she would be with anyone, she was eager to get to know him.

"Hi, Matt," Jendayi said somewhat loudly, to make herself heard over the rest of the chatter in the hall, "Enjoying the feast so far?"

Alexandr glanced around the hall with a neutral expression. He was almost glad that there were more Slytherin's than normal this year, more people to beat up. He remembered the day he was sorted and how he'd almost been placed in Slytherin, he only went to Gryffindor because he'd threatened the hat.

He picked up a chicken wing and tore the flesh completely off with a single bite. He chewed like an animal and spat out the bone like a piece of gum.

Matt was taken aback about the fact that someone was speaking to him. He looked up, and saw Jendayi, otherwise known as Jen. She was a year older than him, and he spoke to her seldom.

"Yeah, but Maple seems to have not arrived yet... I'm worried." he replied, and then remembered that Jendayi probably didn't know Maple, "Lots of new Slytherins this year, isn't it odd? And Dumbledore, well, that's something else!"

When he first came to Hogwarts, he was slightly put off by the Forest and Giant Monster living in the lake, but soon got used to it, and now regards the place as his second home.

*Aaron was worried. His friends hadn't arrived, and after all the commotion at the end of last year, he wasn't surprised. He knew deep down in his heart that some of them he would never see again, as their lives were probably taken by Voldemort and his evil gang of "Death Eaters."
But, as always, his mind told him to think positive thoughts, and to think about how his friends may not have made the train in time, or how their parents may be keeping them at home.

He sighed, and continued on with the consumption of his meal, still staring around every few seconds, taking everything in.
Although he wasn't the smartest in his class, he knew a lot, but Aaron noticed that Dumbledore still had not taken his seat.

"Where is he?"

*Aaron thought, before looking around once more for someone to talk to, even if they weren't exactly in his age group.

"There she is!" I exclaimed, as the black-haired beauty walked back into the room. She walked over to Jendayi and Matt.

Lorelei eyed the boy on the opposite side of the table from her with distaste. Hadn't he ever learned basic table manners? It seemed pretty unlikely from the positively barbaric way he was wolfing down his food. Somehow, she'd lost her appetite. Pushing her plate away, she gazed at the other Gryffindors, all of whom seemed to be enjoying their dishes. Not her, though. Dumbledore should have arrived by now, and even though common sense told her that it wasn't worth worrying, that he'd probably turn up sooner or later, she couldn't dismiss a nagging doubt at the back of her mind. With a sigh, she placed both her hands on the table and fixed her eyes upon the occasional cloud scudding across the otherwise clear ceiling.

*Aaron looked around once more, deciding he would wait for his friends until he left, but knowing it was pointless to do so.

He was about to grab a piece of Roast Potato straight off the plate when his sense of manners kicked in. Lorelei lowered her gaze disdainfully to the boy opposite her.

"Certainly, but I'm not altogether familiar with the eating habits of animals."

She swivelled around in her seat rather than returning to stare at the enchanted ceiling, surveying the hall through narrowed eyes. Most of the students from last year seemed to be present, but Dumbledore and the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher's seats were still empty. With a small sigh, Lorelei turned back to the long Gryffindor table, letting the talk of fellow students wash over her.

The other Gryffindors didn't seem to be peturbed in the slightest by the absence of their Headmaster. A small smile appeared on Lorelei's pale face. There was no need to worry, really. She put a hand to her mouth to stifle a tired yawn. The sooner the feast was over, the better. As she lowered her hand to the table, the food disappeared from the golden plates. About time, she thought.

Ebony's gaze fell directly on the magnificent teachers' table and she entered the room for the first time that year. She swiftly scanned the faces for Dumbledore's welcoming smile. Her darting eyes finally rested on his empty seat, a puzzled and anxious look spread itself over her colourless face. Odd, she thought as she wound a stray strand of dark hair around her one of her narrow fingers. Suddenly a cry from her friend, Markus, jolted her back into raw reality. As she rushed over to the seat he'd saved for her she let all her thoughts and worries sweep themselves to the back of her mind.

Sliding her slender frame onto the bench, she proceeded to fill her plate with food, remember how hungry she was after the journey, she quickly forgot all her doubts and began to engage in a conversation with her fellow students.
