Well, According to Strength's and Weakness's, Treecko is the best one to start with, as it it has the most strength's against the beginning gym leader's.
Torchic has high "Endurance" and it get's less damage, thus making it the best fighter.
Mudkip is the best to train, and has the most health/defense overall. It also has the most Strength's overall aginst Bosses.

i love grovyle (can you tell?) so id say treecko, but torchic on the other hand... it may be a while before a catchable fire type comes around.

Some new info:Treecko is the most strongest, but the has the least acc/most spd.
Mudkip has the most acc/least spd
And Torchic Strat's off middle.

That's where you're wrong. Treecko can easily beat up Roxanne, he does fine with Brawly, but then comes Wattson and Roxanne. Wattson's Magneton is the only trouble, but still a big one. Against Roxanne you could use Rock Tomb, but it still isn't as good as Mudkip. Beats easily the first 4 leaders and does a fine job against Norman. And by Winona you can already have Ice Beam = piece of cake. Liza & Tate are quite easy with Surf and Ice Beam. Against Juan you should use Eartquake, if Swampert has learned it (shouldn't use the TM). Swampert is also powerful, has good defenses, but the only problem is his speed (not a big deal).

Still, Treecko is too cool to be ignored. He's my favorite.

The best bet is to go with mudkip, I've tried it with treeko and torchic and it really didn't work, where as mudkip it was quite easy to beat the game with.

The best end result is Mudkip. Swampert is a great Pokemon and has some excellent defenses on top of great typing.

That being said, I do hold a soft spot for Blaziken. He's quite wonderul. :D

Mudkip does give the Best result though.End's up that Treecko give's the worst.

I would say Torchic.
Train it till it evolves in into Combusken, It Pwns the first Gym with Double Kick[Fight]
It learns Peck[Fly] when Torchic reaches Lv 15, so Pwns 2nd Gym,
Since it also learns Fire Moves, It also PWNS the Third Gym..

Generally, I think mudkip is the best one, because it is weak only against grass type moves. However, I always choose torchic.

>_> They are almost equal in beginning, but I still think Mudkip is slightly better. Mudkip also is great for the rest of the game, while Treecko has many weaknesses. That means, Mudkip is the best, when it comes to power.

(post contains spoilers for ruby, run mouse over white text to read)

Are the elite four in Emerald the same as they are in Ruby? I play Ruby pretty obsessively, haha. But I have never played Emerald.

I've found so far in Ruby (I've beaten the Elite four about 15 times now, training for Battle Tower) I have never had a use for a grass type, and my preferred water type is gyarados, so torchic works out to be the best starter for me.

If the Elite Four are the same in Emerald as they are with Ruby, I would go with Torchic. Eventually he will be your best bet for beating the Elite Four. The first uses:

Mightyena
Absol
Cacturne
Shiftry
Sharpedo

Each of those can be a one-hit k.o with blaziken. Use your fighting moves on absol, sharpedo and mightyena, and your fire moves on cacturne and shiftry.

The second leader uses ghost types, which I use blaziken's more powerful fire moves on. The third leader uses ice and dark, which are both weak to blaziken.

She uses glalie, sealeo and walrein. I use blaziken on her glalies and k.o the sealeos and walrein with a couple of psychics from gardevoir.

The fourth leader is the dragon type, so I just use ice beam with gyarados and it's usually a one-hit k.o for each pokemon. The final leader obviously uses steel, and once again blaziken is the best you can do for yourself. He has two pokemon that aren't steel types that blaziken can still quickly k.o with fighting moves.

All in all a grass type is useful once or twice and can easily be compensated for with another type, while I found fire/fighting was vital.

Even in the beginning Mudkip is the best over-all choice type and stat-wise.

Mudkip will get you through the game the easiest and fastest, despite that I really like playing with Torchic.

in my honest opinion id say mudkip because it can help on roxanne and brawley and if u mass train it could be a swampert by watson, but most people get treecko because most guides and sites say its the best, but all 3 have their own strengths and weaknesses, so its truly up to the person playing to deside the best

i think its mudkip, because mudkip is more powerful than any starter in pokemon emerald, mudkip can beat wattson(gym leader of mauville) in just a single shot, just use mudshot.... heheehehehe....:wink:and if ur battling rayquaza and u want to catch it, just tach your swampert ice beam and voila...you know dragon and flying types are weak against ice type, but becareful of using ice beam,,, it could kill rayquaza in just a single shot,,, that's ol....

I have a passionate love for Blaziken, being a Fire Fighting. (Anything Special+Fighting like Gallade are my favorites). So I did Torchic, and I was fine, and I pwned the elite 4 with blaze kick.

i think u should get Mudkip because when it evolves all the way it would be water and ground. that is really good.

Well in my opinion I think its easiest to beat the game with Mudkip since Swampert has one Super weakness and that is Grass, fortunately, there is no gym in Hoenn that uses grass types, however , I'd still recommend that you go with Torchic, its almost as easy to beat the game (by the time you reach JUAN the water pokemon gym leader, you'll have Rayquaza) so beating him won't be a big deal, besides this Blaziken is by far more impressive than Swampert in my opinion plus It has a decent base stat for speed compared to Swampert and speed is the lifeblood of battle. =3

I personly like torchick but really mudkip is the stongest and good against a lot of the gym leaders.
