Nope. I've had times when I've been really angry and frustrated at some of my college classes, but I know that you really can't get a serious high paying career without a degree. Usually it involves adopting a different studying method, but again, sometimes that only works when its far too late to do anything about it.

I honestly think a better choice might have been to switch majors, but I'm not sure which major you were pursuing. If one area seems a bit too hard, its better to switch than to totally drop out. But then again, sometimes the expense is way too much for you to handle, and to issuing out student loans time after time only makes it worse and worse.

Naw. I don't think I'll be dropping out myself, even tho I know I'll be coming out here with a 200 grand debt. :-/

Murr, have you considered entering into college again, since you sound like you're regretting it. Or is the door closed?

No, I don't think I'd ever wanna do that. I go to a really challenging school, and I'm not doing as good as I'd like, but I don't think I'd ever want to drop out.

As difficult as the classes here are, I love living here. I've made friends, and the community on campus is really comfortable.

There are no such thing as majors here, remmeber our college is different to your college XP Plus it's not true that you can't get a high paying job without a degree.

Anyway, I'm currently contemplating the same thing, I'm too lazy to go into a long post about why right now, but basicly I don't think being in education is doing me much good. It's just not my style, I've always disliked school and my last college. I just don't find it to be a very productive environment personally. >.<

well ive allready finished a 2 year course... so ive got some higher education under my belt.

the course i dropped from wasent what i wanted.. it was supposed to have graphic design elements to it, but theres none planned in the year planners. its all java and pro-log which im really terrible at.

im going to work for a few years, being only 18 means i still have time to go to college and pick up the right course for me later on in time.. but for now... i'd prefer to be working and earning money then going to college and spending money i dont have!

You could always take an apprenticeship in Graphic Design because i just got a booklet from one of my teachers. (Been in Y10 we have just started getting bombarded with job ideas) Anyway in this booklet it has a vast aray of design apprenticeships. And the best thing is that you get upto £130.00 a week so you are "Learning while your earning". If your interested i would look into Modern Apprenticeships!

I am considering taking a modern apprenticeship in landscape design when have got my GCSEs.

Heh... that's right... kinda... >_<

Hmm... though I've only spent 1 year of it... and I already failed some subjects... I still don't think of dropping out... not because of the disownage consequence. Sure it's annoying, sure its hard, sure it sucks that you get the terror teachers and not the easy ones... but somehow, I have a certain attraction to college, and spending time in college is the only time I had REAL friends.

i'd prefer to be working and earning money then going to college and spending money i dont have!

Good point... I'd rather do that too, but what can we do, they care about us, they care about our future... they're ok with it... somewhere in their hearts I think =P

< Still has no idea what he's gonna do at A-Level.

Our college is really like Upper High School as its basically for ages 16 - 18 at first, then other people who failled or want a career change go back later. (Like me mum)

Actually, I never knew that about majors in England...

Mostly in America, companies aren't even going to look at your resume if you don't have some college degree, and the constant threat of further outsourcing only makes it much, much worse. The number of jobs in the United States is only diminishing, making higher education a nescessity.

Basically, if you don't have a college education in the United States, I hope you like rolling out pizza dough and pouring cups of coffee...

Ah, I know how challenging college can be. Trust me... I did not have hard time adjusting to being on my own, making new friends, or having to work to afford books. What was hard was the sudden change in workload from high school to college.

At most, during high school, I did maybe half an hour of work per night. Here, I do at least three hours of work per night, and that's on a good night. (Then again, I do pretty well in school and I'm also doing a double major, so it's a lot of work.)

Needless to say, I get very fed up with school. I would like, for maybe even one night, to be able to relax and not stress about my school work. So, I definitely understand why you would want to work for a while. There are certainly things you can still do without a degree, so it may work out for you. :)

I know that for what I want to do, though, I would need a degree. Plus, sometimes, I love my majors. (I should, right? =P)

It seemed like only yesterday I started college at MATC (Milwaukee Area Technical College), and I'm already graduated and working full-time at a job that pays well but won't get me very far without some major support. The whole experience wasn't that incredibly challenging for me during the 3 1/2 years that I spent there... the work was actually quite interesting, and I had a lot of fun with some of the programs that I got to work with.

MATC is a technical college, so I don't really think of it as the real deal. I received my degree in Graphic Design, and afterwards I decided to go back for one more semester to try a couple of programs that just opened up.

Most people either go right into their chosen field after they graduate or go on to a larger university. However, I decided to work a 40 hour week after college while I look over job listings and attempt to find my place.

It's definitely worth it to go through the extra years and get a better start in life. Some people know right away what they want to do after high school, while others still wonder. It's expected in life. Hopefully the decisions you'll make in your future will help you find out where you want to go. Good luck!
