View Full Version : Sapphire, TV still not telling Latias location after twice beating Elite 4

I played Ruby when it came out and loved it. I spent ages with it breeding and leveling up. When I finally reached the Elite 4, it was within three days that a TV show told me where to find Latios. Found her and caught her no problem.
I then started Sapphire and... forgot about it as Leaf Green came out and I was more interested in playing an entirely new game. Sapphire sat around for a couple years. When I picked up Diamond during the summer, I was looking forward to importing all the Ruby/Leaf Green and Sapphire pokemon. Then I realized I never finished Sapphire, and needed to, in order to catch Latias.
So I beat the Elite Four in Sapphire back in November. No TV shows told me about the Energy Guru's sales or the Department Store Sales or... anything. The TVs were all blank. I tracked down the reporters who battle you and beat them to get the TV shows jump started, so to speak. So for about a month, I would find the reporters and battle them, then hunt a TV to see their 'show' and hope that another post-elite four show would pop up. Nothing.
So I fought the Elite Four a second time. This time I got news of the Department Store sale, a week later the casino had their pay-out day. Still no news of Latias.
So for a couple months, I've been spending a few minutes a day watering berries, tracking down the reporters and seeing if I've won anything at the Department store or if Mirage Island is visable. A pokemon won the Master Smart Contest, in case a Master Contest win was necessary. And still no Latias.
I've been googling and the only thing I can find was someone saying you had to have Pokemon over level 80 for Latias to show up. Can anyone confirm this? (Because I generally get a pokemon to around level 60 and then start breeding/training other pokemon.)
Or, if anyone has any other suggestions for getting Latias to show up, I'd appreciate it.
The only other information you may need to know is that I caught the Regis and Rayquaza. I have over 100 pokemon in my pokedex... I don't think I've done any trading with Sapphire, but I didn't think you had to connect to another player to get Latias to show. Could be wrong.
Thanks in advance for any help.

If it's second hand or something, it's probably been tampered with?
My tv never comes on anymore, but I'm not worried, I don't do any interviews or battles and I haven't beaten the Elite Four in over a year, so... Unless a Lilycove Dept. Store ad comes up, I don't listen to the tv stuff :p

That's not true.
If nothing's happening on the TV's, your game might have the berry glitch (though I didn't think that it effected the announcement about Latias, but I guess it's possible). One way to check if you have the glitch is to see if berries grow, of if you're able to do the lottery every day.
To fix the glitch, connect to Pokemon Colosseum. Alternatively you can connect with FRLG. On the title screen of FRLG press Select+B to fix the glitch.

Hm... This could just as easily be a hoax.
Anyways, I'd put it down to the berry glitch, when your internal battery stops working and time events stop. That's probably why.
Otherwise, if that's not it, your game, could it have been tampered with at any stage in its life?
Also, to save your game from the berry glitch, you have to trade with Pokemon Colliseum. There's a special disc, you need, I think.

Sigh.. No it sin't the Berry Glitch... it's Sapphire, Latias isn't supposed to have its location shown in the TV. You have to randomly meet it and then catch it. *sigh*

I think the TV gives a hint, but it is completly random.

Don't be stupid you can only catch it after the TV goes "OMG RED UFO FLY OVER HOEnn" or something like that(HOEnn is a pun)then you can run around like a loco and find it
Its a weird glitch it's probably your gameI doubt it's berry glitch that TV annoucing isn't on time it's part of the game so its auto memory--so you might have forgotten or your game has been tampered with or it's plain screwed--You can try again by restarting the game if it still has the same glitch at the same point You probably need to buy a new game

I'd say that the TV was broken......

It didn't say anything on the TV for me. I just found it after beating the Elite Four and then caught it with a Master Ball.

The TV is not spoilt.
I had the same problems and thought everything was hopeless, until I stumbled upon Latios in my Ruby game. Only in Emerald, will the advertisement on TV comes up, because you need to decide which to capture.
But for Ruby, all you have to make sure is that you've defeated the Elite Four, and save after that. Other stuffs about looking in the water to find the reflections of Latios/Latias or waiting for the TV advertisement to show up is bull.
After you've defeated and save, the only movement that I'll recommend you is to don't go look for it. That's right, don't. Go do something else instead, like walking through wild grass to battle other wild trainers, or go train Pokemon. I was training my Pokemon that time at the path before Lilycove, the plot of wild grass between a small piece of brown land for growing berries, where a lady stands there and gives away free berry, to Lilycove. Meaning it is Route 120 to 121, of course, there are other specific places where the birds appear, but I met mine at there.
A good way to test out if you have a berry glitch is to grow berries, grow Chesto/Cheri/Rawst/Aspear/Pecha to be more accurate, and you don't even have to water them, check back after a few hours, to see if it sprouted. If it does, you are free of the berry glitch.
And I waited very long for my Lilycove Big Sales advertisement as well, before that, I got random Game Corners advertisements. So my advice to you would be to try out the berry glitch thing, and if you are free of it, continue training your mons along Route 120 to 121, preferably around Route 120, but close to Route 121, the tall grasses. Tell me if that helped you.

well you have to see the T.V. when you Beat E4 and your at your house, you go downstairs and a news broadcast says that a mysterious red/blue object flying through hoenn. Now you have to watch this considering your mom(in the game) tells you to-then you get the ticket for the ship and yeah. Now in Emerald, Your at the T.V> and your mom goes away and it showed the news flash and the thing went %$&^ and you chose red/blue

I didn't even watched the tv.
After beating up the Elites, I was teleported home again, and I went down, and the TV went blank, then I went up to it, and it was all like 'Four Boys walking down...' or something like that. And after a few weeks, I found Latios on my own.

Ahhh.....don't be stupid
In Ruby/Sapphire what happens is that you go downstairs then you go in front of the T.V> automatically -and then you get the ship ticket from your dad
In Emerald you mom doesn't get to see the T.V. and you get to choose

Thanks for the input folks.
To answer questions/issues:
I bought the game brand new in a retail B&M store (local Super Target), so it wasn't tampered with, nor was it a bootleg.
When I preordered Colosseum, I got the bonus disc from EB, so not only was I able to fix the berry problem on both Ruby & Sapphire, I also was able to import Jirachi long ago. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/guinaevere/smilies/wooper.gif
Whatever the problem turns out out to have been, I've been sick in bed the past week so I spent time leveling up linoone to level 81. Then spent time with Etrian Odyssey for a few days, then went back to Sapphire... nothing on TV, so I flew from Sootopolis to Lilycove to see if I won anything (didn't). Then I ran west through the grass towards the Safari and woohoo, Latias appeared.
So in my case, it *may* have been that my pokemon were under level 80, or it may have been that I just kept missing her owing to the random factor. I'm guessing it was her random flight pattern, but I have no way of knowing for certain.
