Well, first of all, here are the Pokemon that you will need:

Castform around level 42, with rain dance, mystic water, and weather ball. This is optional, since it only serves to weaken Groudon.

Dusclops, any level, with the levitate ability.

some random filler Pokemon

You will also need:

around 10 revives
some hyper potions
at max, 55 ultra balls

--------------------------
now, to catch it, start off with Castform, and use rain dance, which effectively weakens Groudon's fire blast to become easily manageable. Then, one weather ball should put it right there in the red zone. If you don't have a Castform, or have another Pokemon that can put it easily in the red, then use that.

Next, switch into Dusclops. Because it's ghost type, and because of levitate, the only attack that should be able to hit Dusclops is fire blast, which only has 5 PP. When Dusclops faints after a Fire blast, revive him, and send him out again until all the fire blasts are used up. Then, just keep chucking ultra balls until the Groudon is caught. You only need around 55 ultra balls, because bulk up, slash, earthquake, and fire blast combined, only have 55 PP. when those are all used up, Groudon will likely kill itself using struggle.

Good Luck!

By the way, I had the worst luck with my Groudon. I caught it, was too lazy to check it's IV's right away, so I defeated Wallace first, and saved. Turned out my Groudon's IV's are

HP= 27-28 =D
Attack= 5-6 -.-
Defense= 12-13 ...
Sp. Atk= 0-2 ='(
Sp. Def= 25-26 =)
Speed= 7-8 =|

Unlucky, huh? especially since it's quiet, and it has 0-2 Sp. Atk IV's. Oh well. I hope I do better with Rayquaza.

Really Its not hard to get groudon
just hit it with a Swamperts Surf or Ice beam or Sceptiles Leaf blade, but I use Blaziken and Sky uppercut.....and it pretty much almost dies

but an Easier way is to get a good tank..like weezing and get it poisoned and keep hitting it until it has 1/4 life and then it should take like 4 balls to capture it

O_o

To be honest, this plan seems to make things more complicated. Legendaries are remotely easy; having some kind of type advantage, something that can inflict a status condition, and lots of time on your hands is really all you need to bring with you. Luck plays a decent part in the process anyway...

Too bad Groudon isn't worth the effort!

I made my Swellow w/ Endeavor battle stuff til its health was low, like in the red, then I stuffed in back of Party, and continued to the Magma Cave or Team Magma Event. If Groudon was NOT against Swellow off the hop then I let Groudon Beat something so Swellow can speedy into Endeavor. I then switched to my Hypnotizing Golduck (first get girl Psyduck; then Male Spinda; daycare and hatch for Cloud Nine) and start chucking Great/Ultra Balls (how I miss Heavy Balls from Gen Two :sad:). That is how I go for Groudon.

Just buy 20 super potions and 99 timer balls and you will catch it

I once tried to catch Groudon with Ultra battles. I ennded up wasting 72 balls. Then, it used struggle and fainted...
Kyogre is much easier to catch. I caught him using only 5 net balls, while its HP wasn't red.

As someone stated, Groudon isn't hard to catch in Ruby.
In emerald, since hes 70, hes more challenging.
I caught mine in Ruby with the 2nd ultra with hes HP in yellow.

A foolproof plan to pretty much nab any legendary:

-Get a Swellow and have it get poisoned. Walk around outside of battle until its HP dwindles to one and use an antidote on it.

-Start the battle and use Thunder Wave, Stun Spore in Groudon's case and either sacrifice the current poke or switch Swellow if you predict a safe switch.

-Use endeavor to reduce HP to 1 instantly. Continue chucking Ultra Balls repeatedly until a capture happens. Takes anywhere from 1-30 attempts to capture. :s

That's what I used in ADV games anyway.

Kyogre can be caught using a False Swipe Shedinja.

Nice idea, but therwas sort of no point in this thread, every one has a way of catching a lengendary, be it useing a master or some ultraballs, me i just lower its defence when its on red and maybe i might paralyes it. also like someone eles said, it sort of does make it more complicated.
