Extended ASCII (as incidentally was discussed another night with some friends) isn't possible without making a new keyboard layout and what not (not easily done.)

Extended ASCII characters however, can be used with "Alt codes". Hold down the "Alt" key, and move your hand over to the number pad and push some numbers. They'll give you some form of ASCII (depending on what you used)=.

For "é", it is <b>Alt 1 3 0</b> (all held at the same time, create the letter by removing your finger from the Alt key).
