I used Blaziken, Pikachu, Exploud, Skarmory, Flygon, and Slamence my first time I beat it. It can be tough with that party group, so I would reccomend using a legendry if you wanted too.

Walrein is fine already.
Look at its base stats. They're finely contributed, with a slight dent in Speed (65). The others,Def/SDef = 90, HP 110, SAtk 95 and Atk 80
But Ludicolo has a good typing, i.e Grass and Water. With Rain Dish it can heal, with Swift Swim his base speed would boost in Rain Dance. If the team is for the E4, then

1st E4: Dark
Heracross can kill them fast enough. Or Blaziken

2nd E4: Ghost
Shiftry/Cacturne would do well with Faint Attack

3rd E4: Ice
Manectric can handle them,(some are dual type Ice+Water) with some help from Heracross.

4th E4: Dragon
Heh. I LOVE double weakness. Put that Ice Beam on Ludi/Walrein. He uses Altaria, Flygon, Salamence IIRC.

Champion: Emerald you say? Then :Water
Manectric zaps them.

So ditch either Ludicolo or Walrein for Shiftry/Cacturne, if you really need a Dark Type. If you like stats, go for Walrein. If you'd rather have a good typing, train Ludicolo. But, Manectric is not that diverse, IIRC he learns Electric+Normal moves only, so if you have Thunder Punch on Blaziken, use him instead IMO.
