I currently have a 31 vaporeon that im working on...

It has ice beam, surf, brine, and sand attack (dont worry im new but i know sand attack has to go) idk if i want to get acid armor or aqua ring... and idk if i want to replace surf with water pulse because it causes damage to my other poke when im playing doubles which i love and the occasional confusion is always something nice

I also have an manectric that im working on...

It knows thunderbolt, charge, flamethrower, and im thinking about protect any thought's?

I also have a 54 gengar with dark pulse, confuse ray, toxic and shadow ball and i feel like i messed something up... thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

I also have 2 alakazams... now.. i dont want to use my TM's on them if they arnt viable in combat... ive been told that generally they get wasted pretty quickly... any ideas on how to make them viable... or should i just kinda keep them stored away to grind the elite four...

one last thing... i have a magnetzone and i have no idea what i should do.... magnet rise??? thunder??? raindance??? flash cannon??? thunderwave??? zapcannon??? :( im confused... plz help me haha

Water pulse generally isnt a good option, it is about 33% weaker than surf and the only benefit is the promise of hax. Surf is much better.

Nightmare is also a bad move. Unlike proper status moves it is cured by a simple switch. It is too situational.

I thought Nightmare was just a phail Dream Eater. Curse is the one that you mean. And Dream Eater sucks much because no one is gonna let their sleeping Pokemon stay in unless its going Rest-Talk.

Nightmare is curse but without the -50% on your poke, but requires a sleeping opponent. But both suck, as does dream eater.

but if the only concern is them switching out.... why not use umbreon/meanlook/batonpass/
:-\
that or just give my gengar mean look

You could BP a Mean Look or just teach it to Gengar but Gengar is really too frail to not die using it and you'd kill things faster with a sweeper set.

It's more effort than it's worth. Gengar is a very powerful special sweeper, it doesnt need all this set up to work well. Hypnosis is good, but it has a huge special attack and doesnt need to rely on gimmicky half-status to kill stuff. It would only really help against pokes like special walls, which gengar shouldn't be facing anyway.
