I've devised a formula for determining the skill of a certain trainer, based on his win/lose record and the number of battles (experience) that trainer has.

Please, post your score here, alongside your record.

Mine is:

298/31/0

So my Trainer Grade is:
(# of Wins - # of Loss) + (Total of battles *.2) =
(298 - 31) + (329*.2) = 332.8

Someone who has won 90 battles out of 100 would have a grade of 100. But since I have three times as much experience (battles) than him, approximately, I am worth three times more. And so on.

Try it; it will help us to draft the upcomming guild wars members in a more fair manner.

What if we restarted our record and have little amounts of battles currently, would it still work out?

It will be more accurate if you use your old record. But yes, it will work.

I've resetted my Battle record 1-2 times now, I don't think it'll be fair If I'm using this formula now, But I guess, it's a good way.

oic.

It would prolly make your rating thing go down if you used your new one since most people don't know their old record. (Like me.)

But, if you only resetted your record, techincally, you should have better pokémon now, and thus lose less; this would increase your rating instead of dropping it too much.

You keep posting stuff here, yet I haven't seen a glimpse of your battle grade, new record or not. =)

Yeah see, I tried it and failed since I fail at Math. =/

I got me having a 55.2 meaning your 6 times better then me! Lmao

So with my reset record, not counting gym/evo/gym challenge/war. I have 5.8. DO I WIN?

Cound all the battles, then, to get your true record, since it's now in the rules =)

Mmmm, I got 47.6

Interesting system.

I get uh, 262.8 ... but since the formula doesn't take account of draw battles, would we take that out of the total amount of battles? If so, 258.4

EDIT: With my gym record I get 281.6

This is an interesting concept, but I do not think it is an effective way to accurately measure a trainer's skill because of one main thing; it does not take into account improvement.

Neat idea and conversation piece, but I don't think it is a good way to measure skill.

So what if your in the negatives. EX. -1. What rank would you be then?

(217 - 122) + (274 * .2) =
95 + 54.8 = 149.8

:o

Marth

It would be kinda impossible and hard to accurately measure improvent.

Yet someone who has had a lot of battles, such as Harry, will end up with a higher score than one who has less experience, and if he improved, then his battle record should slightly raise.

Improvement therefore:
-Means more battles (higher score).
-Means a better win/lose ratio (from 10 loses for each win to five loses for each win).

This is meant to be an approximate, objective way of measuring the skills.

I agree since with my true record, 3/4 of it was when I was being OHKO'd.

But just for you Marth :)

91.2, which I still don't think is accurate because of all the times I was just destroyed when I first joined.

EDIT: It actually won't mean more battles because nobody challenges refs. I've done about 30 battles since July 1st, excluding my gym, only one challenge. :|

281/231/5

(281 - 231) + (537 *.2) = 50 + 107.4 = 157.4

:o Nice

For the lulz.

(203 - 115) + (318*.2) = 88 + 63.6 = 151.6

Never resetted my stats 0:

Marth, you got yours wrong.

Mine is... (37 - 8) + (45 * .2) = 29 + 9 = 38.
With the old resetted stats: (173 - 218) + (391 * .2) = -45 + 78.2 = 33.2

Though, if I ignored all the OHKO battles I had, which are about 100 losses:
(173 - 118) + (291 * .2) = 55 + 58.2 = 157.2

(# of Wins - # of Loss) + (Total of battles *.2)
That's the formula...
And there's no way you can win and lose the same battle.

Indeed it should. Someone with phail spanish skills edited that second bit onto it, and I left it like that just for fun =P

Hm, interesting concept. This could be useful in ways, but doesn't exactly measure true skill as much as something like this could.

Still, I didi this for the heck of it, and got 237.2. Not bad, IMO ^^.

I'm going to have to agree with Tracy on this. Measuring someone's skill by a set of numbers seems silly to me.

Also, in the case of people like DU, whose records are full of losses thanks to OHKOs, it can be misleading.

Don't forget, that especially now, with my all-grass team, I'm seriously liable to get kicked by anyone with a few fire mons and that nosleep ability.

It's a fun formula, but bad for practical matters.

Lol these are cold numbers, some people don't like the "to be blunt" style Marth has. Which is respectable. People do choose their teams as well, you do have to accomidate what the heck is wrong with owning nine fighting types (RapeRaptor) or in DUs case a buncha grass poogeys' (switch to Houndoom with Flash Fire) ;).
You do choose your teams, so its up to you to develope counters to poogeys that have the potential to own you. Of course your gonna lose a few times learning how to, but it pays off in the end. Besides, who cares about what "tier" you fit into. It is just another label. On the plus side you can always go and start owning people that fit in your tier, and move up ;).

Well I'm too lazy to calc this up, but my wins on my reset record (dun have my old record) is 160 wins to 24 loses. Go me?

-30.4!

Oh yeah!

MM: You have 172.8. Yay you xD
