National Park Rules

Welcome to a new Branch of #009-14 Industries. It was known as the longest lasting park at the The Pokemasters Forum as part of the original Anime Style Battles. The business was originally created by Blastoise #009 and Deckbuilder14, hence the name of the park. It went through many Owners, Co-Owners, and other stuff before finding it's way to PE2K's forum, where it has been integrated into the URPG.

Quick Set Up:
The idea here is a combination of Reffing and Story Writing. This is a completely different idea being integrated with the URPG. It’s like the Safari Zone except modified for our standards. As you enter National Park, you will be Role Playing your activity. Then you will find Pokemon and battle them in certain locations. Sounds simple? Let’s get started.

Starting Information::
First, you must join the URPG. That is required. Click here (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8447) to join the URPG. Once you do that and earn some money, stop on by and try this out.
Read all these rules. Read the Role Playing Guide (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88462) to see what the style will be like. Post your character in the Signups (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88464) thread. Then go to the The National Park Roleplay (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88463) thread to start.
In the Park, you will be Role Playing. You may do as much or as little RPing as you want, but this will be a factor in your capture. The better you RP, the higher chance you have at getting the Pokemon you want.
Run Away Count: 10 times. This is the amount of times you are allowed to run away from a Wild Pokemon. If you or the wild Pokemon use Roar, Whirlwind or Teleport, it will not count as running away. Once you use up this skill, you are kicked out of the park.
Defeating wild Pokemon does not give you any battle experience and does not go against your Run Away Count.
If you have two or more Pokemon in your party, you may end up doing a Double Battle using two Pokemon to fight against two wild Pokemon. If you run, it counts as using only 1 Run Away Count. Double battles will happen rarely and this is the only way you can catch two Pokemon at once. Sweet Scent will increase seeing two Pokemon at once.
The only battle style that will be in effect is Anime Style. Which means, you can dodge, use two moves at once, block attacks with your attack. Basically, it plays out like the Anime and Fanfics. The Ranger will be the main force of the battle.
When you start a battle, your Pokemon will have the HP they left off with from the previous battle, if there was one. In between battles, you may heal your Pokemon with items or by using our Ranger services.
Your Pokemon can’t use their moves outside of battle unless it is allowed. Think of the game. These moves are called Outside Moves.
*Example: Chansey can use Softboiled outside of battle. Alakazam can only use Recover during battle.
A single Park Ball may only be used once and will not be refunded if you do not catch the Pokemon with it. When a Park Ball fails to catch a Pokemon, it breaks.
You must leave National Park if you fall under any of these categories:
-No Park Balls/Hyper Balls
-All your Pokemon have Fainted.
-You use up your Run Away Count.
-You catch a Pokemon.
-You don't post for a while without a good reason.
If anyone has a question, please post in the Park Discussion Lounge (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88460) or contact one of the Owners/Staff.
NO REFUNDS! This is non-negotiable.

General Rules of the RP:
(This will probably contain several sections)

About Roskis (Punishments):
Roskis is a pocket dimension. It is a stable Black Hole created by a Black Hole Generator designed and built by Zela Kang. Roskis is different from other Black Holes in that it does not actually kill you when you come in contact with it. No, on the contrary, Roskis is designed to be never-ending torture. One can exist in Roskis while not actually existing. While there, you are atomized, one atom at a time. You are aware of this happening to you, and the pain is excruciating, the same pain that people feel when Vaporized in Science Fiction. You are atomized and reconstructed like this every minute, while feeling everything. At the same time, you are stretched so long, you may as well be infinitely long. Stretched and ripped apart. It's not pleasant in here.

Getting into Roskis is simple. Break the rules three times, and receive three warnings. Failure to heed these warnings will result in you being teleported to Roskis for a day.

Receive three more warnings, and you are sent there for three days.

Recieve another three, and Roskis is your home for a week.

Another three warnings gets you put in Roskis for a month.

If you still haven't learned after that and break another rule, you are teleported to Rosksis for eternity.

Too long, didn't read version: Breaking the rules and getting three warnings gets you banned from the Park for periods of time, until you're finally banned from it forever and can't return.

Getting Started
To start, you must first visit the Park Signups (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88464) thread. From there you will learn everything you need to know to participate.

Overseer
Jack (He wanted his name mentioned. Go figure)

Owners
Bronislav84
Moltrecuno {MIA}
Notes: Can do everything the Supervisors do, approve new Supervisors, as well as running and maintaining the Park.

Supervisors
TBA
Notes: Can approve Signups and post Ranger Wages, as well as normal Ranger duties. Needs to be approved by Owners and the Council.

Rangers
(Listed Further down)
Notes: These are members that help National Park by approving orders, working with Trainers in Locations, and answering any questions. If you think you would like to become a Ranger, contact an Owner for information.
-- You will be required to have knowledge of all Pokemon and their movesets and how they work in the Anime. You also must have a really good imagination for the RPG/Fanfic scenes we are going to be depicting. It helps if you are already a Referee of the URPG.
For more information about Rangers, see further down.

WE ARE HIRING! The more the merrier.

Ranger Pay: $500 per Pokemon encounter. Wages can be paid by those with Supervisor rank or higher, every two weeks like Refs and Graders. When a Trainer leaves the park (Either by catching a Pokemon or having to be removed for inactivity), the Ranger will post in the Ranger Check-In (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88581) thread a Summary and the number of encounters in the session.

How to get hired

It's really not Rocket Science, honestly. Chances are, if you know how to RP, and you know me, you don't need any credentials, just a post that you're interested. If we haven't been in an RP together, maybe one of the other Rangers/good writers can vouch for you. If not, you'll have to post some examples of your writing. Any will do. If you think know how to write, chances are good that you know what counts as "writing" so just post examples along with your show of interest. It's that easy.

A basic knowing of how fighting in RPing works would be good. Have a look at Into Your Character's Skin (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13613) first, which should help explain it.

You will also need to pass the test to become a ranger.

Duties

*Help any Trainer and answer any questions.
*Respond to Trainers waiting to get into the park by accepting/assisting/rejecting their form.
*Store Cashier.
*You can use this form or create your own for Trainers that enter the park. Edit their stats as often as you like.

~Run Away Count (10 left)

Pokemon Stats:

Finding Pokemon

*When the Trainer is ready to enter the Park RP, the Ranger will ask the Trainer if there are any specific Pokemon wanted and tell them of any important notifications of the Location. Also, the Ranger will inform the Trainer to call a Pokemon out as soon as he/she enters and failure to have a Pokemon out at all times will result in being kicked out.

*To determine what Pokemon the Trainer finds, pick a method that is purely random or that correspond to the area the Trainer is in. Some Pokemon naturally occur in certain areas, like Diglett in a cave. Pokemon have their own rareness to it, but also factor in how well or horrible the Trainer RP’s themselves.

*Remember to keep track of Effects that may factor which Pokemon are found or hiding.

*When any Stat changes for the Trainer, post it. You can post the whole Stats or just the part that was effected (whatever is easiest for you.)

*Outside Moves are moves such as an HM, Teleport, Softboiled, Sweet Scent, etc. These are the moves that can be used out of battle, like the Gameboy. Some of these moves are helpful is certain Locations.

Battles

*The only Stats needed are the Pokemon that are battling, unless an item is used. Keep battle round results like the regular battles in the URPG such as health percentage and status. If it's easier than percentages, use the Pokemon's full HP stats (ex. Bulbasaur 293/293).

*Keep in mind that using Tackle on Torkoal's shell will do less damage than if Tackle hits Torkoal's stomach.

*Depending on the battle, low health on some Pokemon will make them run away rather than stay and be caught.

*Moves like Roar and Whirlwind will scare Wild Pokemon away. Teleport will also teleport the Trainer and Pokemon away from battle. These will not go against you Run Away Count.

*Healing and Status Potions will only work outside of battle. Trainer’s can only use Pokemart items during battle, which they will need to purchase before coming into the park.

*When a Trainer finds a Pokemon, feel free to give it any personality you want. Friendly, bored, angry, malicious. You can be gender specific if you want, but the Trainer is allowed to change it if he/she catches it.

*The only chance a Trainer has to catch two Pokemon is by having a Double Battle. 2 on 2. Otherwise, once one Pokemon is caught, their time is up. Double Battles will only happen if the Trainer has at least two Pokemon with him/her. Using Sweet Scent will raise the chance of finding two Pokemon at once.

Other

*If a Legendary is spotted, the Trainer has one day to respond and take a picture with the Pocket Camera, if he/she bought it. At the end of their time in the park, reward the Trainer $2,000 for the picture. If the Trainer does not reply within the day, you may post saying the Legendary went away (have fun describing Legendaries). If the Trainer does not have the Camera, you may not sell the Camera to the Trainer at that time.

*Once the Trainer is ready to leave, he/she may keep all items listed below:
~Pokeballs, Potion Items, and Poke-Dolls can be saved and used another time.
~Pokepagers and Repellents can be kept if they were unused and/or weren't set to anything.

*At the end of their time, post the Trainers’ stats and outcome. You may use this form or create your own of similar nature.

Percentage Factors

*Finding two Pokemon at once has a 5% chance.

*General Rule of rarity:
Common = 50%
Intermediate = 20%
Rare= 10%
Legendary = 5%
(Each Location has their own odds, some of which may not agree with the above percentages.)

Capturing

-A Pokemon affected by Burn, Sleep, Paralysis, Confusion, or entrapped will have a higher chance to be caught.

-Role Playing has an affect on the capture. It depends on how well or poor the Trainer role plays.

Ranking System (By gun6)

- S, A, B, C, D, and F-ranks.
- Determined by:
1. RP length (in posts)
2. Post length (in paragraphs)
3. Quality of posts (grammar, realism, etc.)
4. Rarity of Pokemon (Common, Int., Rare, Special)

- S-rank is the "perfect" rank, and all people with a capture that is S-rank will receive a selected prize at the end of the month.
- A-rank is the "near-perfect" rank, and one person with a capture that is A-rank will receive the same prize as an S-rank capture at the end of the month.
- B-rank is the "great" rank, and there is no prize for this rank.
- C-rank is the "average" rank, and it is impossible to capture a Pokemon with a rank lower than C.
- D-rank is the "poor" rank, and you cannot capture a Pokemon with this rank.
- F-rank is the "worst" rank, and you cannot capture a Pokemon with this rank.

- Capture ranks for Pokemon groups:
1. Common: C through S-rank.
2. Intermediate: B through S-rank.
3. Rare: A through S-rank.
4. Special: S-rank only.
5. Double Captures: S-Rank only

- Ranking System Specifics:
- RP length:
- Determined by the number of posts in the RP thread.
S: 20+ posts in the RP thread.
A: 15
B: 13
C: 10
D: 7
F: 5-

- Post length:
- Determined by the number of paragraphs (four sentences at the least in each paragraph) in every post. (Or number of paragraphs in the thread divided by the number of posts)
S: 4+ paragraphs per post.
A: 2
B: 1.5
C: 1
D: 0.5
F: 0.49-

- Quality of posts:
- Determined by grammar, realism, etc. (Mistakes per post are averaged)
S: No grammatical mistakes, very realistic.
A: 1-2 grammatical mistakes per post, realistic.
B: 2-3 grammatical mistakes per post, realistic.
C: 3-4 grammatical mistakes per post, somewhat realistic.
D: 4-6 grammatical mistakes per post, not realistic.
F: 6+ grammatical mistakes per post, impossible.

- Pokemon Rarity:
- Determined by the rarity (Common, Int., Rare, Special) of the Pokemon that is trying to be captured.
* S Rank if the conditions are met; F Rank if not.
Special: +1 paragraph per post, +2 posts in the RP thread.
Rare: +0.5 paragraph per post, +1 post in the RP thread.
Int.: +0 paragraphs per post, +1 post in the RP thread.
Common: +0 paragraph per post, +0 posts in the RP thread.

- Point values:
- Values for each rank in each grading category. Add these up to get the final rank.
S: 6 points
A: 4 points
B: 3 points
C: 2 points
D: 1 point
F: 0 points

- Final Rank values:
S: 23-24 points
A: 22-20 points
B: 19-16 points
C: 15-11 points
D: 10-6 points
F: 5-0 points

Example: Jimmy RPs for a Magikarp. He makes 10 posts in the RP thread (C-Rank for RP Length) with 1.5 paragraphs per post (1.5 paragraphs for B-Rank). Because he has met the Rarity requirements (+0 paragraphs per post, +0 posts in the RP), he gets an S in the Pokemon Rarity category. In addition, Jimmy's grammar is great and his RP is realistic, so he has an 'A' for the quality of his posts.

C = 2 points, B = 3 points, A = 4 points, and S = 6. 2 + 3 + 4 + 6 = 15 points, which nets him a "C" Rank. Because Magikarp is a common Pokemon and can be captured with anything between a C-rank and S-rank, Magikarp is captured! Jimmy then goes home to have some delicious seafood.

This sounds awesome - amazingly complex and thorough. Well - it has been 3 (?) years in the making, haha.

I've read through it all and would be mighty interested in becoming a ranger... I'm a grader and have passed the ref quiz, so I have a good idea about Pokemon health and such, whilst able to RP and write quite well... haha.

Would you like some examples via PM? :x

I'm glad to see something that will bring Anime style battles back into the heart of URPG, and after reading through all of the posts and information, I have decided that I would be interested in becoming a Ranger.

As far as RP samples, I'm afraid I have none. However, I do have two URPG stories in lieu of said sample.

Smoke and Mirrors (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36000)

Ignition (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86916)

I would also like to note, without sounding pushy or anything of the sort, that I am more than willing to help out with any areas that I may be useful in. : ]

Yay, more shmoes. Go look up the definition by the way, its not meant to be anything bad. At least not the way I'm using it.

Splish, you kinda never got back to me when I asked for some stuff about your past writing history, but Tiana has showed me some of your posts and you're good. Just, would have been nice to have you show this to me, not somebody else.

Also, I'd prefer to not use PMs if I can avoid it, and use messengers. There's just some things I'd prefer to keep off-forum until the Park goes fully "live" and things are done for the first time, to set a standard for the future. It's a work in progress, especially since this is totally different from the ASB it's based on, so I'm actually going to be learning this system with you guys, too.

A lot of patience is going to be needed in the coming times. Lots of things to iron out and fine tune with this.

That's cool, I understand about the whole messenger thing.

And, er, sorry about the writing history thing - I was under the impression you had asked for it just for that role play group you had created, and I couldn't be bothered to produce/collect some writing samples for a goal that wasn't at the top of my priorities - heh, sorry, it was very rude of me not to reply with at least an explanation. No hard feelings? ^^

*Looks up shmoes on dictionary.com*

It's cool I guess. At least you admit it was rude. I thought so.

And really, I don't mean shmoe like it sounds. It's just people, average people. Just people. I like the word. It's funny when I say it, and I like funny. "Just some shmoe." Would you prefer I used posse? Sounds too gangster. It's just for fun, really.

Oh yea, by the way, Fenix an I have been talking a lot and she has some great ideas which we're still kinda working out, just by talking about them. Just need to bounce ideas around. Fenix ftw.

I is are apply! And I haven't taken the ref test, but I know how to use the calc and stuff, so I'm sure I can be useful XD.

Oh, do the Rangers RP the wild Mon, or do the Trainers RP them? And can Trainers interact with each other, or do they always have to be on their own? I think it'd be neat to be able to meet up with another Trainer and maybe hunt for Pokemon and battle them together or something. I dunno lol.

Just making sure: being a ranger means that you're unable to use the Park as a normal trainer and capture a Pokemon? Or, is it perfectly acceptable? Sorry if it's already been cleared up, but it's kind of late here. xP

You can still make your own character in the Sign-Up thread.
You just have to get another Ranger to help RP with you. It's perfectly alright, I think :o

Can I be a Rangerr? This would reallyyy help me get back into URPG, roleplaying is me life. I'm always trying to improve my roleplaying so this could be of some help, my grammar will be better than that in this post. :P

If you need examples, I can dig up the ones I gave you last time, I also have new ones.. :0 & I do know how to use the ref calc., somewhat, I just don't feel up/ good enough to even try out to become a ref.

At the moment, I am a ref and a grader, although I haven't RP'ed in awhile, (last time I went away for a week, and I couldn't hop back in ^.^;;) but I was rather active in the RP section. Give me a copuple minutes, and I can pull up some of my latest URPG stories for examples of my writing...

Looks like Harry merged some threads without giving me any kind of notice, and forgot to make the title make sense. Fantastic. *goes to do that*

And ST could I see some kind of proof you can write like the others provided? (Still need to process some people)

Also I think some people should be exempt from the test. Tiana and gun6 for example. Tiana is a fantastic writer. gun6 is only one the list for the heck of it, and said he didn't want to be a full fledged Ranger, just teach people how to use the Ranks system he invented. And if everybody is gonna need that test anyway Fenix is inventing, then I'd like to take it too, for the heck of it. Imagine I fail? :eh:

I'm sorry, but this is just biased and wrong. Making someone "exempt" from the test just because you know they can write isn't right. Going by this logic, everyone who gives you an example that meets up to your "fantastic" standards should be exempt as well. I don't disagree that Tiana is a good writer, but since she is she shouldn't have much problem with the test itself.

I made this post a while back somewhere, but deleted it when I realized there was already a ranking system to catch Mon. But since it's being worked on and the current system may not be used, I'll just say again what I posted:

Let's group the Mon into the ranks based on their category: Stupefying/Merciless Mon into the S rank, Demanding and Complex into A, Hard and Medium into B, and Simple and Easist into C. So if you wanted to catch Milotic, which is Merciless category, you'd need to get an S rank. If you wanted a Caterpie, you'd need to ony get a C rank, since it's Easiest category in stories.

How does that sound? It'll be extremely close to how the Mon are caught in stories, and that's what we want, right? It also isn't as hard as figuring out a percentage system for how often certain Mon "appear."

bronislav84
09-04-2008, 07:54 PM
Who's we? That's Teo's and Harry's idea. I had my own ways to lengthen it, but Harry and Teo are concerned about mon like Milotic and Horsea so they wanna tweak with the rarity, and we'll discuss it later. I've already said that the Park RP is similar to the Stories, but is not meant to be like them.

I don't think adjusting the rarity to make them equal to stories doesn't turn it into the same thing. IMO it encourages balance, since some mons immediately become easier to get when compared to writing a story.

I really like the idea of being a Ranger and thinking of creative things to do to people while they're roleplaying. I know how moves work, and I've read the Dex entries of the majority of the Pokemon in the game, so working in details on how they battle will be easy.

Okay then, if you don’t want it THAT close to the story method, how about a simple dice-rollng system? It would work something like this:

1-59 = Common Rank
60-89 = Intermediate
90-99 = Rare
100 = Legendary

Once you roll for a rank, you’d roll another die equal to the number of Pokemon in that rank. For example, there are 13 Rare Mon in the Great Lakes, so if you rolled between 90 and 99, you’d roll a 13-sided die for the specific Pokemon. Say you rolled a 3: that’s a Lapras.

If someone buys a Special Map, add an extra 15:

1-59 = Common
60-89 = Intermediate
90-99 = Rare
100 = Legend
101-115 = Special Mon

So let’s say Trainer is in The Woods. Ranger rolls a die and gets a 43, which is for the Common Rank. Since there are 38 Mon in the Common Rank, Ranger then rolls a 38-sided die. So let’s say they get 37. Going in order that the Mon are listed, a Stunky would appear (since it’s the 37th on the list).

If Trainer has a Special Map and Ranger rolls a 107, that’s for the Special Map Rank. For The Woods, there are 11 Special Mon; let’s say Ranger rolls a 1. That would make a Scizor appear.

Now let’s say Ranger manages to roll a 100. That’s the only number that lets Legends appear. So for The Woods, if Ranger rolls a 100 for Rank, that makes Celebi appear. For the Great Lakes, they’d roll an 8-sided die. Rolling a 6 would make Uxie appear.

Of course, numbers can be played with, and more formal lists made and stuff, but this is an easy way of determining when Mon appear. Thoughts?

bronislav84
09-05-2008, 04:59 PM
TT that's the general idea I was having, but you formalized it into actual numbers a little more than what we had listed. Assign certain numbers to the mon (Based on how many we have in each Zone) and certain numbers to fall into rarities. But the kind of dice required would need a dice website lol, 'cause who's ever heard of a 37 sided die? They don't make those, so what we really need is a random number generator.

But the thing with the maps (Which I'm considering just making it so they would basically pay for the Ranger to open a special hidden area) would be that you'd be paying to go to another area entirely. Mon in the special category don't normally appear at all (As you correctly read from what's listed), which would mean they are logically, in another hidden habitat. So basically when you pay to go see Specials, your Ranger would be rolling for Specials at a very high rate, while the rate for others goes down (Because mon in the Special category are likely to want to reproduce because they're older, so there would still be others around, just not as many, and mostly babies and first forms).

Now I wonder if Teo is doing something similar, or if we just wasted his time. :O

Dog of Hellsing
09-05-2008, 05:20 PM
Well, I was thinking the Ranger could roll a die in an AIM chat, since you can roll a die of about any number (the highest I've gone is 496).

For Specials, we could reverse the numbers? Or just work out an entirely different Ranking system for when someone buys the map. Like if they use the Map, then Specials goes to 1-59, etc etc, so the rarer Mon would be more common, and the more common Mon more rare. OR we could say 1-79 to run into a Special Mon, then 80-100 for the others. If you roll anything between 80 and 100, then you'd do two rolls like the Trainer hadn't used a map.

Example: Trainer uses map, Ranger rolls a die and gets 99. This means they follow the Normal Dice System, in which they roll for a Rank, and then a Mon in that Rank. If the Ranger rolled a 34, then they'd do another roll for a Special Mon.

I hope that makes sense @__@...

I get the general idea for the second part, but it's a bit confusing, still. I'm thinking in the hidden habbitat, Specials have somewhere around a 85% rate to come up and 5% for each of the other three groups, Legends excluded. We'd be doing two rolls either way, since it's once for the rarity rate, second for which mon shows up. Too tired to really formalize it like you did with the other, so feel free to do this too TT. Read Discussion as to why I'm tired. >.<

But yea, it's all made of win.

Okay then, if you don’t want it THAT close to the story method, how about a simple dice-rollng system? It would work something like this:

1-59 = Common Rank
60-89 = Intermediate
90-99 = Rare
100 = Legendary

100 = Legend

Thoughts?

You clearly stole my idea Jess D:
Meh, I discussed and PMed the exact details to Harry something like this,
but with different rolls and numbers/etc.
He liked it of course, but he said there's some discussion needs to be done or something. So yeah.

 Wow, I actually contributed something people like! *LE GASP!* Lol, but okay, here's the final layout then:

In AIM chat (or an online die roller), Ranger rolls a 100-sided die to determine the Rank:

1-59 = Common
60-89 = Intermediate
90-99 = Rare
100 = Legend

Then Ranger rolls another die, this time to determine the individual Mon. This goes by number of Mon in the Rank that was rolled, in the order the Mon are listed. For example, a 98 is rolled, which means the Ranger will be rolling for a Rare Rank Mon. If Trainer is in Great Lakes, there are eleven Rare Rank Mon, so Ranger would roll and 11-sided die. If they roll a one, that would make a Gyarados appear, as it's the first Mon listed in the Rare Rank.

In the event that a Trainer should have and use a Special Map, Rank rolls change to:

1-84 = Special
85-89 = Common
90-94 = Intermediate
95-100 = Rare/Legend

In the case for 95-100, the number for Rare and Legendary Mon would be added to get a total number. For Great Lakes, since there are eleven Rare Rank Mon and eight Legendary Rank Mon, the Ranger would roll a 19-sided die to determine what Mon appears. This gives all four regular ranks a 5% appearance rate.

Meh, I think the last part is as close as we can get for 5% for the regular four Ranks, unless we could play with numbers a bit. Maybe drop Special Mon to 80 so Legends can have their own 5 slot? Or make Intermediate 90-99 and then let Legends still have 1? Because people might buy Maps for the simple fact that it gives them a better chance of spotting a Legend. Which would actually be stupid, since you'd be losing 5k (since you only get 2k for a Legend picture and it costs 7k to get a map). So these numbers could stay the way they are. Or whatever works ^^.

@ Sam: XD I wondered if other people might have the same ides or not.

Harry told me you didn't know that I've already worked on this and discussed them with him. It's just a matter of time of him/the Council/Bron of approving it or not. As I've said, I PMed Harry with Detailed Stuff and Information of this "Dice Rolls", on how they can be carried out, and how Special Maps work. So please, until Harry informs me that my Idea is an absolute fail, you can continue with yours here. I just don't want your idea to conflict with mine. I'm not joking here, Jess. You should know how someone feels if your working on something they have worked so much at. I hope you understand. Thanks.

Y so sryus? :P

Seriously though, don't get too upset. I was only explaining an idea so everyone understands how it works. I'm not saying "Oh this is what we're gonna use, so here's how it works." I'm saying "Here's how this will work IF we use it." I'm not trying to steal it or anything; like you said, I'd had no idea you were working on something similar till you said.

Either way, it's up to Harry/Bron/Council/whoever now. *Squees.* I can't wait till the Park is officially open!

Come on Jess. You know how worked up I could get at times. D:
You're still explaining something I worked on and stuffs already, even though none of them have been approved yet, be it your explanation or my idea.

I'll just give up eventually. I can't win in any arguments/talks/ or stuff. I just end up getting OWNd.

I like ideas from both. Sam's (Dude sent me a PM) idea removes Rares from the chances when a map is bought, and replaces them with Specials. This makes sense to me, but let's go a little further.

I think without the map, the rolls should lack Special, and with it Rares and Legends are removed from the chances, because the habitat is a carefully controlled place and Legends wouldn't be there and Specials take the place of Rares (Since Specials are just Rares that are more likely to act up).

Feel free to suggest ideas on rolls based on that new info that I just provided.

I have to add, the fact that I'm saying that Specials are so likely to appear (About 90%) and Basic/Baby and Intermediate are 5% each, is just because you are almost always able to meet a Special doesn't mean you can actually RP out catching it. Catching a Special mon has well, special rules, and requires a whole 'nother level of writing that would make a lot of people wet their pants.

So the rolls might look something like this:

1-59 = Common
60-89 = Intermediate
90-99 = Rare
100 = Legend

if no one uses a map, but if they use one, it might be like:

1-89 = Special
90-94 = Common
95-100 = Intermediate

Is this what you're saying? If so, sounds good to me. Makes things even more simple when people use a map ^^.

I love it, just makes it a 1% to see a Legend though, which is really hard to roll. :eh:

Lets wait and compare to what Teo makes, though.

Just be honest Bron. Tyt_Trainer's explanation is even better described and stuff, more than even what I did. Since she's willing and loves contributing, just go with that. I'm done suggesting. Even if I do, there's always a better one coming up by someone else.

@ Jess : Thanks.

And ST could I see some kind of proof you can write like the others provided? (Still need to process some people)

I could, but I'm not.

Thanks for asking though.

Come on, ST, you can't expect to just be accepted as a Ranger just cause you apply. You have to follow the form like everyone else. Seriously. It's to make sure you know what you're doing, and to provide order in the application process.

You need to provide an example for your writing ability, to show you deserve to be a Ranger. Writing RP posts is the whole damn process, and you need to know how to judge one of the players' RP posts to determine if they caught the mon.

If you really want to be a Ranger, then by all means, apply, but do it right, and provide all the info needed. If you don't do this, then you don't really want to be a Ranger for real, y'know? Seriously, either provide what is needed or don't apply, simple as that.

Woo, stickied thread revive.

Haven't been on here in freaking ages, but I wanted to see if I could become a Ranger. Admittedly, I'm not a ref, but seeing as this is RP and not cold, hard statistics, I think I can look up the moves and 'mon on Veekun and act reasonably realistic about the damage and stuff. Once you get into anime-style battles, using only numbers actually hurts the realism, IMHO.

But I had one question before I throw you an example of my writing. You see, I looked at the RP example in the Role Playing Guide and I got a little...taken aback. Just by the style. My style of RPing would be something more like:

"Ranger Brianna stopped suddenly and motioned for the trainer to do the same. She remained totally silent, except for the occasional cracking of her bubble gum. In a few minutes, a lone Caterpie had wormed its way through the foliage and then sat perfectly still, staring at the two humans with its huge, black eyes.

'Huh, a Caterpie. Figured as much. The little guys are pretty much everywhere,' Brianna said in a lazy voice. Then she looked over at the trainer. 'Y'know, if you wanna catch it, you might wanna do it soon. They're shy little Pokemon. They prefer to run. Probably stems from being prey...'"

Kind of a crappy post, but I think you get what I mean. In the example RP, the Ranger almost sounded...omnipresent. o.o Would this be okay or do I have to adhere by exactly the style in the example? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Oh, any another small point I wanted to bring up. Are the different ranks negotiable? For example, I have Trainer Bob, who's a stunning RPer and posts long, detailed, realistic, and creative posts. However, Trainer Bob also makes about four typos in his RP posts that are minor and not due to a lack of grammar knowledge...just a slip of the finger. Am I still allowed to give him an S-rank despite his typos?

Same goes in other circumstances, like Trainer Fred posting long posts that have no typos, but his actions are unrealistic and godmode-y...

Larvi! Glad to see you have interest in becoming a Ranger ^^.

And honestly, that seems much better to me. That's the kind of way I'd RP if/when I become a Ranger, honestly. I think you'd be awesome, Larvi, go for it! 8D

I'm gla I'm being a Ranger, too. =D *shot*

Yeah, I kinda wanna have a ditzy, absentminded, lazy Ranger. XP Just wanted to make sure our Rangers weren't supposed to be God or anything.

Guess I'll dig up a quick writing sample from the ToJ RP. Gawd, that was forever ago...

"“Help ya?” He asked me. “Truthfully, I don’t know who ya are… or what this war ya’ll is talkin’ about is… but I ain’t a murderer. I was sent ‘ere because… of greed. Selfishness, lavish desires… an’ jus' plain wantin' everythin' I could get. And now, I ain’t got anythin’. Nuthin’ but this… bloated, disgustin’ body. But I can tell… no one eva stops to think how wrong they are… until they end up ‘ere. Honey, it’s too late fer the both of us. Ya’ll should ‘ave realized that as soon as ya stepped in this ‘ere dump.”

I tried my hardest to ignore him, but I felt like I was starting to give in to rationality...

He then responded to Skyscreecher's rather spur-of-the-moment question. “Don’t see why ya’ll really care… but if ya really dyin’ to know.. its Kran. An’ I have no clue about anythin’ ya’ll is talkin’ about. I was livin' life in the water before all this mess, meanin' I neva was a part of this crazy war ya'll is talkin' about. An’ if my gut really bothers ya… I dare say it, ya’ll ain’t seen nuthin’ yet, an’ I can tell the both of ya only jus’ got ‘ere. All I’ll say is… get used to it. Jus’ hope the worst of the worst don’t happen to ya, that’s all I’ll say…”

He then looked away, looking a bit offended.

I scoured him carefully, looking for anything that might betray inner emotions. He gave away nothing this time except exactly what was to be expected. I felt pity for him, being turned into such an awful thing. Just moving around must be an adventure and a half for him now. In fact, he was still looking like he had done something fairly strenuous, as he was still breathing a bit harder than was normal, though it was still vague under his layers of fat...

...Wait a minute.

He was breathing?

Yes, he was. His chest was steadily going up and down, though it took a trained eye to see it. In that instant, I knew he was lying about everything. You don't breathe if you're dead, meaning he certainly wasn't dead. So the story he cooked up was complete rubbish.

Why would he lie? Then the obvious answer popped into my head. There was a group that would have to lie to a Black Onyx soldier, no matter what the costs.

I suddenly lunged forward and pressed the Blade of Prediction's handle onto his stomach, then lunged back again with amazing quickness. I saw exactly what I had hoped to see. The blade, previously a bit more black than white since it was in my hand a second ago, suddenly emitted a brilliant flash of light and turned white, a dazzling, beautiful white. Then it bounced off, landing a few feet from me.

I looked at him, smiling. "You aren't Kron. You're a liar."

So as to make myself less threatening, I kicked the blade away. It went about ten feet off the ground before bouncing a few times and stopping a dozen feet away. By the time I would get to the blade, he would have already blasted me into oblivion. I couldn't die, yes, but he could make it a whole lot more miserable for me and put me into a lot of pain.

"Disarmed!" I snapped. "I am no threat to you now. Any of my ground attacks will do almost nothing, and your water attacks which I believe a Lugia can learn will most likely maim us and render us in extreme pain and in no position to attack."

I smiled. "Your mistake was your breathing. That's how I identified you as someone living. Now, I believe, due to the extremely brilliant reaction by the Blade of Prediction and the fact you lied to me, that you are one of the Silver Apex or the Southern Tempest." I took a deep breath. "Hear me out. I mean no harm. What I said before was the truth. I have no more loyalty for the Black Onyx now that I know the truth about their sinister ways. Want proof? The Blade of Prediction can cut through nearly any substance. One lunge with that blade an your heart would have been split in half."

I was still tensed, though, knowing that he might attack anyway..."

If you need more, the ToJ RP probably has the best examples. Just hunt through page 17 and onward; that's where my posts start coming up.
