I remember Nightmare in Dreamland. If you can somehow can find a video store in which you can rent it, I would suggest renting it. It will probably take you less than a day to beat. Jump Ultimate Stars is also good especially if you read/watch a lot fo the jump series. I got it from eBay for around $40.

The experience is worth full price, so you both are getting steals.

For me, I want Mirror's Edge, Mercenaries 2, Quantum Of Solace Collector's Edition, BioShock DLC, LBP DLC, and a few PSN titles. Most of my xmas cash is going towards the Q1 games of 2009 however.

FFXII is excellent IMO, but not a traditional FF game. The battle system is more like an MMORPG and the story is very deep and political and less fantasy/romance, but all in all it's an addictive and worthy FF title.

Rent. It's mediocre but sort of fun at times. It get's old really fast and there are a LOT of glitches. But like I said, worth a rent.
