The Story So Far...

Although this has not been stated previously, the Park is located on a large island. The island is a near the Orange Islands, but distant enough to not be considered a part of them. It is a wild frontier in which pokemon of all types live, free from human interference. Every possible terrain can be found here and it is rumored that even rare pokemon make their homes here. In the Pokemon Park, anything is possible.

You are one of a few people who have managed to hear about The National Park and have decided to visit it for one reason or another. Perhaps you desire to catch rare pokemon. Maybe you wish to try to photograph unique and interesting species. Or you just simply wished to get away from it all and go on an adventure. The Park offers many opportunities for all.

A small ferry set off from Mandarin island early this morning. It takes a good 16 hours of travel to reach the Park by boat and no intelligent trainer would attempt to fly to it over open, untested water. The skipper, Captain Mary Tavler, owns this particular vessel, the S.S. Krabby. It is even painted the proper bright red of an actual Krabby, complete with a Krabby logo on the side.

Talking with Captain Tavler gives you the impression that she is not only a Krabby fanatic, but also long-winded. She bores you to tears about her latest Krabby expedition in which she climbed Mt. Coronet in search of rare Mountain Krabby. Unfortunately, she had not found any, but she is determined to keep searching for the most unique Krabby in the world. She is told that The National Park has some of the rarest Krabby in the world and she will catch those Krabby no matter what. Unfortunately, as she finishes her rededication, she punches down on the ship’s wheel, sending the ship spinning sharply to the starboard.

Luckily, you managed to hold onto the cabin door instead of being thrown out over the rail into the sea. The old man who was standing outside, however, was not so lucky. He tumbled right over. After a quick rescue operation that involved a few water pokemon, a life jacket, an emergency float, and a lot of tugging; the old man managed to climb back onboard. Captain Tavler, sporting a bright red blush, apologized over and over to the man. Luckily, the old man laughed it off, finding the small adventure to be... exhilarating.

The rest of the trip managed to be uneventful, with Tavler carefully guiding her vessel this time. You start to question your luck. Sure, you managed to find the only ship heading to The National Park this week, but will you live to see the Park? Luckily, you arrive safely.

Tavler guides the Krabby to the wooden dock jutting out from the island’s beach, carefully bringing the boat to the side. Moments later, you find yourself walking down the wooden plank onto the dock. The sea sways gently beneath you. Turning east, you see the sun slowly start to set in the distance. It’s been a long day and you try to stifle a yawn, but fail.

That is when you hear a voice. You turn around towards the beach and notice someone running towards you. As he approaches, you notice him wearing what appears to be black khaki pants and a red vest over a white shirt. A top his head is a brown Ranger’s hat, though it appears to be falling off as the man erratically jogs toward you. He seems frantic, waving his arms back and forth.

You, and the others who have accompanied you, pace onto the beach toward the man. He looks frantic as he runs up to you.

"You... are... trainers?" he pants fervently, "Right?"

You and a few others nod, visibly worried.

"Good," he replies, "You need to come with me... We have a situation."

The sun sets behind you.

Getting Started

Like I mentioned, please try and figure out a party name. That way I don't have to keep referring to you as Party A. It adds to the "awesomeness" of the plot. Feel free to post here to start discussing a name.

Oh em gee, it's finally up.

I find it funny how the teams are Party 1 and Party A. You'd think they'd be, like, Party 1 and 2 or party A and B. xP

As for a team name... MK's Team of Godliness The Awesome Musketeers? [/lame]

EDIT: Looking at the other team's roster, I noticed that our team is generally younger, so maybe 'The Young 'Uns?' :x

i think harry didn't want to make team B feel inferior to team A, so it was A and 1...

and personally, i like the first one better than the second (but that's just me...)

lol, I missed 4 of our 7 hours by being at my Gma's house and doing her yardwork for Mother's day.

Hmm... Perhaps we ought to name our team... uhh... *brain collapse* ...

! how about the "Wraiths" or the "Merry Men"? it looks as though a majority of our group is Chaotic Good, me, TT, and Cipher lord. MK is the only lawful good, lol.

I would also like to call attention to the fact that Eraizaa-kun said he wouldn't be back until the 26th or so... him missing the first week or more of the RP isn't a big deal, then it won't matter, but it could...
Yay for mostly Chaotic team who's name hasn't been established yet!!!

EDIT: lol, I found a fantasy 'team name generator' and it output the "Eccentric Lunatics" I like it!

The Story Begins

Tavler volunteers to stay behind in order to properly dock her ship. The old man agrees to assist her, stating he would slow the group down.

You follow the ranger, eyeing him with curiosity. You all pace quickly as he moves feverishly forward. His feet leave scattered imprints in the sand, forming a zig-zagging trail of dots.

You look at him. He’s short, maybe 5’3, with a neck-length, black hair waving about, his brown fedora long fallen around his neck. His clothes are bunched up, something you would expect after he ran so urgently towards you. Patches of dirt and grass stains mark his Ranger Uniform.

He glances back towards the party. You can see a look of fear in his eyes.

“We’re in a crisis,” he informs you, nervously, “We’re under attack.”

He points down towards the beach. You scan your eyes forward, trying to pierce the coming darkness, but can’t see more than the outline of the water and the nearby trees that follow the coast.

“Up there is my assignment, Outpost 1,” he continues, “It’s the head outpost on the island where all the decisions are made for the Park. We’re not open yet, but I’m glad you’ve come! We’re in trouble and we need your help.”

He glances back forward, then glances back.

“We have to hurry,” he babbles out, still a little out of breath, “Grass pokemon are attacking everyone and they even managed to destroy the radio. We can’t call for help and there are only a few of us! We won’t be able to see in the dark and I’m worried that they could overwhelm us! That’s why we need your help.”

That’s when you hear an explosion ahead of you.

“Oh no!” he screams and runs towards the noise.

OOC: It's going to take a few minutes to run to the site so feel free to talk or shout as is the case. This is roleplaying too.

Also, feel free to continue discussing your party's name in OOC. You want to differentiate yourself from the other group. It also helps establish your identity.

Things will get more intense as the roleplay continues. Please include some descriptions of your character so the other party members know a bit of what you look like without having to refer back to your SU. Good luck.

OOC: Yay for lawful good xD And I like 'The Eccentric Lunatics', so I'm all for that! ^^

Is there a certain PoV we need to roleplay from? I'm going to do it in first person for now...

IC:

I silently followed the Ranger from the ship, trying to make myself inconspicuous amongst the five-or-so other people who claimed to be trainers. I wasn't completely sure whether this was some kind of joke, something they did to all of the arrivals to the island, but as he explained more about it, it started to cross my mind that this could be for real. I was a bit irritated that the Ranger had drawn me away from my original purpose on this island; I wanted to capture rare Pokemon, perhaps maybe even discover new ones.

The cold night air made me shiver, so I zipped up my blue jacket. I was half-asleep and all I wanted to do was find somewhere to rest, but instead, I was being ushered to some 'Outpost 1' to deflect attacking Grass Pokemon. I did grin to myself at that; I specialise in training Ice-type Pokemon and three of the Pokemon I brought to this island with me are Ice type. It's common knowledge to everyone that Ice moves can hit Grass type Pokemon with extra damage than usual. As an added bonus, I also have a Fire-type, which is my Arcanine. Fire is also dominant over Grass.

I wasn't really paying attention to the Ranger's ramblings, just taking in information that I considered to be 'key information', such as the attacking type being Grass, but I soon snapped into focus when the ground shook beneath me. A loud 'boom' rumbled from up ahead. The night sky was illuminated momentarily, a bright white. I shivered again, not due to the cold this time.

“Oh no!” the Ranger shouted. He started racing towards the direction it had come from.

"Hey... wait! What's happened? What was that?" I bombared questions to the Ranger. I immediately regretted that, having brought attention to myself amongst the group. Sighing, I ran after the Ranger, curious to see what had happened to make him so frantic. I could guess what the rumble was, but I wanted to make sure, and since the Ranger was too busy running to answer my worries, I turned to one of the other trainers.

"Excuse me..." God, why was I so polite? " I was wondering... what was that noise?"

OOC: I don't mind who it is that answers Mark. And sorry this is kinda short, I didn't want to just storm ahead with the Ranger and leave everyone else lagging behind. Like I said before, yay for lawful good xD

I watched the ranger as we ran along in the dimness of the night. He looked out of shape, he was brething too hard and moving his arms without the right rythm to keep his running steady and eficient.

I absorbed the information he was dishing out, loving every second of it, knowing that what was going to be a pointless and all together frustrating vacation had suddenly turned into another mission, one where I didn't have to decide what it was I was going to do. Those were my favorite kinds.

Grass pokemon; we needed to be sure we weren't running right into a crafty trap with it being night. I released Maximillian from his Poke ball as we jogged slowly through the night, quickly giving him the scout signal before he zoomed off into the darkness, he was much faster than us, and the night swallowed up his stealthy form in seconds.

I turned my head in the darkness as we ran, trying to asess the group around me, sizing up the other passengers from the ship for the first time. I hadn't had any reason to interact with them before, and this is the first chance I'd taken to evaluate their potential.

Almost instantly however, a loud explosion rang through the darkness, and my eyes snapped towards the direction of the sound, barely glimpsing the short flash of light at the source.

The ranger doubled his pace, his form actually becoming a little more smooth and correct when he started outright running. His agonized cry rang through the night, and I struggled not to smile at his lack of composure. I sped up slightly to keep pace, and shifted my pack higher up on my back to keep the movement to a minimun, make my travel quiet.

Someone next to me spoke. I ignored him at first, but a second later, I realized that he was addressing me!

"Excuse me... I was wondering... what was that noise?" he said confusedly. I shook my head in silent amazement. Was he completely daft? I looked him over quickly. He had his jacket zipped; at least it was serving it's purpose, and not making unecessary noise, like the ranger's was, flapping uselessly as he ran.

"Explosion, probably gas tanks or eggxecute." I said shortly, before turning to look where I was running again.

Already, I was trying to decipher what would be the best method for combating grass pokemon in the night. I had a few ideas; Crobat could probably guard a single doorway alone; he was fast and airborne, able to see in the night with echo location. Ephriam would probably be able to take a door as well. Alphonse would be far too slow to be effective in the situation I had imagined we would be entering, and it wasn't likely there would be enough water for Caulder to be any help. Togepi was too young, wouldn't do any good to have her stumbling around in the night, so that just left Maximillian.

I knew that the Sneasel wouldn't like being asked to guard a door, I thought about what he could do to make the situation better and still feel comfortable. My Lure kit! I new I had a few scents in there that grass pokemon found extremely intoxicating, nigh unignorable. I could give Max a few, and he would go and dump some of the contents behind the force of attacking pokemon, probably distracting a good number, maybe even causing some brawling among themselves.

I then started to wonder about the motives behind the attack. Was the reasoning strong enough that such a tactic would have no effect on the enraged pokemon? It was unlikely, but I didn't yet know the reason behind the attack; I rushed forward until I was in front of the ranger.

"Stop!" I bellowed at him, grabbing the short guy around the middle as he tried to barrel past me. Not only did we need to know the whole story, but rushing in without a plan like this would likely get us killed.

"I know we're in a hurry," I started, "but this is insane. Why are the Pokemon attacking, and what's our plan. We won't help anyone if we all get killed within seconds of showing up."

bic: Clay listened intently at what the ranger was saying, he didn't want to miss anything that was said that might prove to his advantage later on. However, as soon as the man mentioned Grass types, Clay had to sigh at his luck. He was in an area with hostile Grass Pokemon, and all his Pokemon were sandstorm based.

He quickly decided of all of his Pokemon, Empoleon would be the best to fight Grass types and he started to reach for his belt to grab the penguin's Pokeball. Before he could grab the ball, he heard a loud noise coming from up ahead. Clay's head snapped up as he tried to determine what the noise had come from.

Before he could try to determine exactly what had caused the noise, the Ranger yelled and started running off. Now it was perfectly clear what had happened, the attacking Pokemon must have blown up part or all of the outpost.

As the ranger ran off, one of the other trainers followed him and the trainer sent out a Pokemon, although Clay hadn't been able to see exactly what it was. Not wanting to just be left behind, Clay started to jog behind the three, however, he didn't try all that hard to catch up. As he was jogging along, Clay grabbed Empoleon's Pokeball, and pressed the button in the middle once, enlarging the Pokeball. He wanted to avoid flash of red light that normally accompanied the releasing of a Pokemon from its ball.

Suddenly, the man that was following the ranger jumped in front of him, stopping him and started asking the ranger what was going on. Wanting not to run ahead of the ranger, and also to hear what the ranger was saying, Clay slowed his pace and soon he was right behind the ranger and the other man, still with a tight grasp on Empoleon's Pokeball.

ooc: sorry about the semi-shortness...

IC: Wow, this trip was getting off to a real fun start. Not only did the captain of the ship ramble incessantly about Krabby (which in my opinion were only useful when cooked and dipped in melted butter), but she also managed to knock some unfortunate old guy over the rail of the ship after spinning the wheel too hard. And now this.

The Ranger was already out of breath before the explosion rocked the area, and I was pretty sure he'd be sorely winded when he finally came to a stop to catch his breath. Three others followed after him, some of them speaking as they ran. I couldn't hear exactly what they were saying over the echoes of the detonation, so instead I trotted along with them.

Then one of the guys started yelling and ran faster to catch up with the Ranger, moving in front of him and grabbing the Ranger to keep him from dodging away. I hurried to catch up as the man said, "I know we're in a hurry, but this is insane. Why are the Pokemon attacking, and what's our plan. We won't help anyone if we all get killed within seconds of showing up." He had a point there, and getting murdered by a bunch of crazy Pokemon wasn't really on my to-do list.

Before the Ranger had a chance to answer, I spotted movement near one of the trees a few yards away, to my left. I squinted to try and make it out, but in the gloom of twilight I couldn't identify it. I felt a shiver run down my spine, though, and had a feeling we were running right into a trap. The movement by the tree had ended, and I supposed whatever had been shuffling around had hidden behind the giant plant.

"Guys," I called in a loud whisper, not wanting my voice to carry and possibly reach (and alert) whatever was hiding behind the tree. As I peered into the darkness, a strand of my dark red hair fell into my teal eyes, and I brushed it away with a scowl. "I think we might be heading into a trap. I saw something moving by that tree over there, but I couldn't see it. Maybe rushing to whatever just got blown up isn't the smartest idea." I paused and glanced at the others, noticing thick, oily black smoke rising into the air maybe half a mile away from where we were. It was impossible to judge actual distance though, but one thing I knew for certain was that whatever had been attacked was now burning.

Like I said, real fun start...

OOC: Appreciate the assistance, Jess, but I would prefer if you didn't put random things in random places. I'll use it for now, but in the future, unless your own pokemon are rustling in the bushes, then please don't have something there.

In addition, you do not see a column of smoke. Not yet anyway. You're too far from the outpost and it's too dark. Please don't mention something that hasn't been described yet.

On another note, it is currently early night. The sun has already set behind the horizon and the only light comes from whatever the sky reflects. You cannot currently see the moon.

Now that the Ranger has stopped running, you can hear past the wind. The gentle waves rush back and forth along the beach, echoing Wingulls retiring for the night. A slight breeze blows a salty mist across your nose.

IC:

Brian manages to hook his arm around the small Ranger, swinging him to a halt. Unfortunately, the Ranger loses his footing, and falls face first unto the sand. He lies there a for a moment, helplessly, then slowly lifts himself up. Thin grains of sand cover his face as if a thin powder.

He looks at Brian, and tears well up in his eyes

"I'm... I'm sorry," he mumbled, "I didn't mean to... I mean, I didn't..."

More tears well up.

"I'm sorry!" he finally cries, and tears stream down his face, moistening the sand dust upon it. His crying intensifies.

"I..." he blubbers, "It happened... *sniff*... so fast. *sniff*. And they started attacking us! With their vines and leaves and roots and... and... and..."

He breaks down, crying a bit more.

"And I was scared!" he wailed, tears impossibly falling from his eyes, "And they kept attacking us. And they didn't listen to us! And we didn't do anything!"

"Why are they attacking us!?"

had simply followed silently as the other children blabbered away. They were all younger than me, and infinitely more immature. I had a temptation to decapitate one of the children, Johnny. This was a serious moment; we didn’t have time to play around with introductions. I simply took in the information: the idiot rangers didn’t have enough gall to fight off a bunch of Grass Pokemon. Grass Pokemon? The wimps, the idiots! How can you lose to a bunch of Grass type Pokemon? I looked at the horizon, the setting sun. Rays of orange, red, and purple lights played with my eyes, and I averted my eyes.

Wind slashed my dark red hair, and it whipped across my face and over my eyes. I wiped it away, and found the ranger we were following was on the ground, crying.

"I'm... I'm sorry," he mumbled, "I didn't mean to... I mean, I didn't..." I grabbed my falchion, ready to attack him. "I'm sorry! I... It happened... *sniff*... so fast. *sniff*. And they started attacking us! With their vines and leaves and roots and... and... and..."

At this, I actually started to unsheathe my blade at this, and my hand loosened, ready to play with my sword a bit.

"And I was scared!" he wailed, tears impossibly falling from his eyes, "And they kept attacking us. And they didn't listen to us! And we didn't do anything! Why are they attacking us!?"

And then I couldn’t control myself anymore. I pulled my blade out in a shower of cold, grey, steel, and I slashed the top part of his fedora off. Then I flicked it into the air, and sliced it four times. “You weakling, you idiot,” I screamed, flecks of spit flying from my mouth. “Why are you doing this to us. Your problems are none of ours, but nevertheless, I will help. But only, remember this,” I now brought my voice down to a near whisper, loud enough for everyone to hear, but soft in reality, “I am only helping because I know that if I leave it to these idiots, there will only be bloodshed and death.”

At this, I played barber with the ranger’s hair. I cut off bits and pieces, shaved it close at parts, and misshapen at others. And the idiot cried some more. I hated him, I hated this, but I would do it. “Now get up before I really lose my temper and stab you, you jelly spined, backless weakling,”

OOC: Heh, unique people for unique places. I like the roleplaying though. I would not imagine that to have occurred in this situation. You guys have surprised me and I like it. This is going to be fun.

Slice. Definitely playing chaotic good. Very nice.

IC:

"Now get up before I really lose my temper and stab you, you jelly spined, backless weakling," Slice menaced at the ranger.

The ranger shut up, and his tears stopped. Nervously, he looked up into the swordsman's eyes. He held it for a moment, then looked down.

There was a pause before he stood up.

"Yo- You're right," he stammered as he wiped the tears and sand from his eyes, leaving brown streaks across his face. Had the situation not been serious, he would have looked hilarious. His semi-long hair now hung raggedly around his head, with many parts of it cut off randomly. A nearly-bald patch clung near his forehead.

The ranger looked at Slice, seemingly in thought for a moment. Looking at him, there was something about how the ranger seemed to gaze at the swordsman that seemed different.

"I... I will start at the beginning," he finally sputtered. "It's what my brother would do."

He looked further down the beach and stifled a sniffle.

"A- Around noon, without warning, several grass pokemon emerged from the forest and started attacking the rangers at the outpost. *sniff*. W- We fought back with our own pokemon, but more and more seemed to come. As if in endless waves.

*sniff*

Before we could call for help, one of those pokemon, I think a Tropius, had *sniff* destroyed the radio antenna. It wouldn't work after that. Not enough to reach Outpost 4, the nearest ranger station.

*sniff*

Bu- But, we managed to hold out for the most part. We're trained and we have strong pokemon! *sniff*

Ranger Reynolds, h- he's the ranger in charge of Outpost 1, told everyone that we only needed to *sniff* hold out until the night. Then it would be easier to fight the grass pokemon, which rely on sunlight.

*sniff*

We've already tried to talk with them, even with other grass pokemon. They don't seem to listen and our own grass pokemon are on edge. *sniff* They can't fight properly and seem to always be distracted. We haven't had a chance to figure it out yet. Not with all the fighting.

*sniff*

I... I don't know what else to say."

He stares at the party.

"But we could really use your help. If you need to know anything, please ask me!"

He sniffles, then looks up in surprise, "Oh! I forgot to introduce myself! I'm sorry! I'm Tommy. Tommy Setton!"

OOC: Well, well, Slice.

Seems like you made an impression on this Ranger. Quite interesting.

"Well, I'm going to help you." I stated simply. I glanced at the dude with the sword, slightly annoyed, before continuing. "I'm sure if we work together and get things figured out, we can maximize our chances at pulling this off."

I stopped talking and looked around at the small group of trainers that we had. It looked as though we were seriously lacking in numbers, it was clear we lacked the capacity for a front on assault.

"First things first." I stated as I let Crobat loose from his pokeball, the dim red light momentarily disrupting my vision. "Crobat, I want you to keep watch for us while we talk; if anything other than Max comes our way, I want to know about it."

The Crobat gave his customary bob indicating he understood before flitting a short distance away and moving around us, our own sentry.

"Now, we need to get quick introductions and pool our resources; Just state your name, occupation, which Pokemon you have with you, and anything else that might be useful. Hopefully we have plenty of resurces that we'll be able to use in order to effectively neutralize this threat.

I'll start. My name is Brainy, and I'm a Pokemon Capture Specialist. I have with me, an Alakazam, Sneasel, Crobat, Gyarados, Togepi, and a Rhydon. Max, the Sneasel, already went ahead to scout out the situation and keep an advance watch should anything be lying in wait for us." I looked at the group, which seemed surprisingly calm, as I shifted my pack and grabbed out a few vials from the lure kit.

"I also have these chemicals here. They're a compound designed to be particularly alluring to Grass type Pokemon. Normally, any in half a mile should come running once I take the stoppers off these babies, but I worry that they may be less effective in this situation. We don't know as yet the motivation behind the attack, but it would be safe to assume that they won't falter to stop and smell the roses.

We should also keep moving, but slowly. Running won't make us all that much faster in the long run, and if we move at a reasonable pace, we can discuss our options and keep from running headlong into some sort of trap."

I shifted uncomfortably as I finished, no longer having anything to say, though people were still looking at me. I nodded randomly to the person standing on my right, hoping that they would start talking and take the attention off of me. I really didn't enjoy having to supply the group's common sense; hopefully someone else here would be full of it and willing to take the reigns; Hack-Happy would definitely need some looking after if nothing else.

OOC:

I had a temptation to decapitate one of the children, Johnny.

Johnny is poke's character in Party 1... :P

IC:

"Explosion, probably gas tanks or eggxecute, " the man I talked to replied. My suspicions had been confirmed, and that worried me. I gulped before giving my response.

"Ok... thanks." I wasn't sure if he had heard, since he'd already started running off again. I figured I should keep up with the Ranger, as the darkness threatened to overcome more of my vision, and I hadn't planned on getting lost on a mysterious island that seldom sees visitors.

By the time I'd caught up, a man was slicing off the Ranger's hair. I just looked, bewildered. I thought of saying something, but the look of anger and frustration in the swordman's eyes made me rethink. After a few seconds of being given a haircut from Hell, the Ranger stood up, composed himself from having earlier cried, I could see, and began to explain the story from start to finish.

After he had, the man I had talked to previously stepped forward and began to confront the group. He seemed like someone who would do well in charge, so didn't say anything that would draw attention to me. Most of the group had yet to acknowledge me, and I was going to keep it that way until need be. However, that idea was crushed at what the man said next.

"Now, we need to get quick introductions and pool our resources; Just state your name, occupation, which Pokemon you have with you, and anything else that might be useful. Hopefully we have plenty of resurces that we'll be able to use in order to effectively neutralize this threat,"

He started off with the introductions, establishing himself as 'Brainy'. There was an awkward silence after he'd finished, so I decided I may as well speak up and get it over with.

"Umm..." I started. Everyone's heads turned to me. 'Oh, great,' I thought. 'I know I'm gonna screw up.'

"Well... my name's Mark Chate... I'm a Pokemon Trainer, only fifteen... I, er... umm..." I was stuttering, certain that I was visibly shaking due to nerves. I wasn't used to having every watch me, and instantly looked at the floor. "Uhh... my Pokemon... err..." I struggled to think. What WERE my Pokemon? "WeavileFroslassGlaceonArcaninePlusleandMinun" I said it as fast as I could to make sure I didn't forget again. They were all older at me, and I was positive that they were thinking I was just a nervous little kid who would hold them back in this 'operation'. Maybe coming here wasn't a good idea after all...

OOC: Hi peoples! hmm...Eccentric Lunatics...awesome! That has my vote!

The Ranger's expression, the Explosion, the overall ominous feeling that was in the air, one by one each one manage to wipe the smile off my face and off the face of Nancy, my Delcatty, as we ran behind the Ranger. I hung on to my brown backpack as we ran. We heard Grass Pokemon were attacking, but not for a moment did I think about the type advantages. I was more concerened about what everyone else had planned as I don't like to step in and take charge.

Even as the Ranger broke in tears, I tried nearing him to calm him down. Next to me, Nancy stretched her paw towards the Ranger with a saddened look in her face, but as we got close, we noticed the sword and jumped back. We weren't about to get caught in the way of a sword when all we wanted was see a new place and, after all we have heard, help out.

I heared Brainy's introduction, and then Mark, but it was obvious Mark wasn't good with crowds. I just stood next to him and patted him on the back in a cheerful manner.

I smiled at the ground and said excitedly, drawing all attention to myself, "My turn. I'm Felix Haru! I'm a performer and a chef, although that's not important. With me I have a Gallade, a Glaceon, a couple of Dewgong, a Butterfree, and..." I stretched my hands in my Delcatty's direction, "this is Nancy!" Nancy raised her front left paw and smiled as if she was saying 'Hi' to the group.

He knew he probably came out awkward as he acted all cheerful in a time like this, but he didn't care much about that.

I then stood upright and said with a serious yet calm face, "hmm...You know, if sunlight is a problem my Dewgong both know Rain Dance. Oh! And I carry all my chef tools with me. They come in handy from time to time."

OOC: BTW, I'm not back on Puerto Rico yet. I just found this wireless connection and thought I should make a quick reply. I should be back next week on Monday or Tuesday. If you need to move my character, do so, I don't mind. I'm just glad that's an option so that I dont' have to miss this RP. = )

Clay stood there, looking fairly impassive at the spectacle of the blade slashing around the poor ranger. As the man with the sword finished, Clay was about to make a sarcastic comment on how intimidating the man who was an emotional wreck was going to do anything. However, much to his amazement, it did seem to have an effect, and a positive no less!

The extra information that the Ranger... er, Tommy supplied wasn't really that much of a help. All they had learned was there were multiple outposts, multiple rangers, and a whole crap load of Grass types. Although, there was one thing that he said at the end was fairly interesting. The Grass Pokemon seemed distracted. What would distract a bunch of Pokemon that were assaulting an outpost?

While he was thinking about this, three of the others introduced themselves to the rest of the group. We seemed to have a fair amount of Ice, Fire and Flying types, all which would help immensely against Grass types. Now that he had heard what Pokemon his allies have, Clay started to feel even more guilty for just have specific types with him. None of which would help that much...

"My name is Clay, and I'm a Trainer and Collector." In the small part of his mind that was always making jokes, he heard several imaginary voices saying: 'hi clay...'. Ignoring the small joke his mind had produced he continued. "For Pokemon, I have Swampert, Empoleon, Cradily, Metagross, Magnezone, and Garchomp. As for anything I have with me, I've got nothing."

Now that he had finished what had been asked of him, Clay turned back to Tommy. "You said the Grass Pokemon seemed distracted? I'm guessing that that might be at least a small part of what's causing what's going on." Turning back to the group at large, he added, "Maybe some of us could go and try to find what's edging the Pokemon on, while the others go right to the outpost and try to help out the rangers that are still there."

"Th- That may work, actually," interjected Tommy.

"We... we tried to distract some of the grass pokemon with scents, *sniff* though we didn't have anything more than a few rarer flowers. They worked in managed to attract the attention *sniff* of a few of the pokemon, but as soon as they saw that it wasn't anything of interest, they went right back to attacking."

*sniff*

"It's as if they can't stop fighting. I'm not sure how to say it. One moment it was peaceful, and the next they flew out at us from deeper within the forest."

OOC: The first page now has links to everyone's characters so it is easier to look up. Also, please let me know if any of you release grass pokemon. It should be interesting. Brian, you know the stuff that you have is much more potent than the flowers the Rangers used.

“This,” I muttered, “is what I have.”

I threw up my falchion, spinning in a circle several times counter clockwise, a sphere of cold iron steel. I then pulled out both my katana and slashed at it with the black blades. It spun, slashed at the face of the man that was named Brian, who really was getting on my nerves, and fell in the ground, upright, like a Master Blade. I then jutted my arm up, very forcefully, and along with a few taps from the black katana Arate, all three red daggers came up. I hit them down with the blade Aratu and then threw that to the ground. I now gripped Arate with my right hand and tossed my single Pokeball into the air. “This. Is. Staraptor.” I said, as I made a spectacle of myself. I spun the Pokeball on the tip of the blade, and then threw it higher up a bit. I hit the small circle in the middle, and out came my Staraptor.

Staraptor was a large bird, like an eagle. A white plume of feathers adorned his chest, a veil of black feathers falling in front of his face. An orange beak poked from his face. A squack filled the air, and I started to talk, “This is Staraptor. My only Pokemon; the only one I need.

Then I looked at the people who had already introduced themselves. I pointed at the child, “You. You’re much too young to be here, go home sonny,” Then I pointed at the man who introduced himself as Felix, “You, I hope you can battle as well as you act,” and at the man named Clay, “You, go back to Texas, cowboy,” then at the ranger, “Coward,” and finally at the man named Brian. Brainy, his nickname. How conceited can you get? What a bastard. I’d make sure he wasn’t enjoying his stint here.

I left a scratch on the underside of his face, where there is only flesh, fresh blood dripping from it. “You, I don’t like you. Not at all.”

I listened intently as we made our way steadily in the direction that the sound had come from. I watched Crobat out of the corner of my eye, waiting for any indication that something was going to go wrong. I was pleased. So far, there had been no indication of any ambush lying in wait, nor any particular liabilities for defending the base.

I was quite surprised by Tommy's news that other, simpler, scents were having some noticeable effect on the attacking Pokemon. It really threw any theories I'd had about what could have possibly been the cause for their attack way out of whack. At least we didn't have many unusable Pokemon so far. Only a Butterfree and a Cradily that might have any trouble with the scents, Butterfree being a maybe, but Cradily was a certainty.

I quickly took in the information that I had so far; Mark's team would obviously be the most useful in concocting any defense. Clay had several Steel types that would also be reasonably effective, and Felix seemed rounded enough.

Slice; I really didn't know what to think of him. Acting? Theater definitely wasn't one of my past times, but he seemed to fit the bill. And what was with the cut? It's like, 'oh, darn, my chin is dying!' I mean, there wasn't even any point in addressing something so clearly a cry for attention. I suppose that he wasn't a liability, but his single Pokemon wouldn't be much use in any defensive efforts.

Out of what I'd heard, I decided that the first thing to do would be getting rid of the Pokemon already attacking the Outpost. It sounded as though the Rangers stationed there had been given little advanced warning of the attack; they probably had been too busy to effectively mount any defensive options yet. The scents would work out nicely. I could take Slice along to harry their pursuit, and run through the forest with the vials to lead the Pokemon away from the outpost for long enough to get any wounded inside and allow a few minutes to regroup and set up some traps and barriers. If we could lure them far enough away, they might even lose their motivation and not return, though it seemed unlikely.

I could have Crobat lead me through the forest; the darkness wouldn't cause any problem to him, so I wouldn't have any trouble worrying about getting lost or running into something I would normally avoid. Max could play guerrilla tactics with Slice and try to take out some of the grass Pokemon while I ran. The only real problems that I could see with this solution were that Slice didn't seem as though he would work well with anyone, but more than that, was that the scent could have a detrimental effect. If I ran through the forest at night holding something like this, it would likely bring any other nearby Grass Pokemon that weren't already in on the assault running to join the others.

After a short debate, I determined that it would be worth the risk, and motioned Crobat over.

"Get Max." I said shortly. Crobat zoomed off into the night, and I turned to look at the small group we had here.

"What we're going to do is this: I'm going to take the vials and head through the forest to behind the Pokemon attacking the outpost. Once I'm there, I'll open them and use it to lead the Pokemon back into the forest for a while. One of you, I think it should be Slice, should follow them while they're distracted by the scent and incapacitate as many as you can manage. Max is going to be doing the same thing.

While we're away, the rest of you should have an opportunity to deal with the situation there. You should have a few minutes, maybe as many as ten, before I'll close the vials and circle back. In that time, you'll need to move any wounded and set up a perimeter. Reflects and Light Screens are advised, as well as any traps you can think of. I'll circle back around and come in from this side again, so make sure that if there are any traps you set up from that direction that they are able to be activated manually rather than by trigger so that you don't end up just getting the trap wasted on me instead of something useful.

I'll try to be back before the Pokemon return, but if not, don't worry too much. With a little preparation, we should be able to hold out against them much easier."

I turned and looked at Mark. "You'll be in charge of Traps and such, seeing as your team is the most useful for dealing with Grass Pokemon. Remember, any traps you set should be incapacitating, but not fatal. Often Pokemon will stop fighting to aid an injured comrade, but if the trap is fatal, there won't be any opportunity for the trapped Pokemon to be a burden on it's fellows. Also, if you have Poke ball, it might be wise to attempt a capture at some of the injured Pokemon; They can't try and fight us if they've been captured and sent to storage."

There was little else to do at that point, so I picked up the pace and started off towards the outpost, hoping that things would work out, and I wouldn't be making a huge mistake. Crobat and Max joined me momentarily, and Max gave the signal that there was nothing to worry about between here and the outpost. At the news, I barreled off in a dead run. I would need a bit of time to circle around through the trees before the rest of the group got to the clearing.

OOC: So is your party name Eccentric Lunatics?

IC:

At this point, the entire party can see what appears to be a small spiral of white smoke rising ahead, likely from the outpost. It isn't massive and looking towards the trees, you notice some flickering, but nothing indicating a massive fire.

As you run, the beach becomes grainier and grainier until it disappears into brown soil and dirt. Scattered twigs and leaves lie about the group, except on the dirt path that leads into the forest. It's about 3 yards across and seems to have been created fairly recently. The dirt flies off your shoes as you run along it.

But, what you approach, can only be described as mass chaos.

A small group of rangers form a semi-circle facing outwards. Fear, anger, and weariness grace their faces as they stare outwards. Their pokemon, many bruised and bleeding, surround these rangers, as if forming a final barrier to protect their worn masters. The rangers back are to the doorway of a wooden structure of some sort.

The door swings back and forth along the hinge, revealing a scene of mass trauma. People and pokemon lie scattered about the wooden floor, many badly injured, bleeding through their bandages. Eerie moans and scared mewing emit from the doorway while an older woman dashes to and from each person and pokemon. She pays no attention to the events unfolding outside.

Grass pokemon, a multitude, with blank looks and evil grimaces, surround the remaining rangers. They too look beaten and bloodied. They also outnumber the Ranger's pokemon 3 to 1. They too form a semi-circle as if instinctively corralling their prey into a corner before the final strike. Slowly they began prowling inward.

The rangers tighten the circle. A few nervously rub their pokeballs. Their eyes darting back and forth between the grass pokemon pack.

But one ranger holds his ground. He stands tall, wearing a ten-gallon hat upon his head. He stands at the front of the group.

"This here, is our last chance!" shouts the ranger. "We fail now and we lose everything that we stand for!"

He glances at the other rangers, looking them each in the eye. He smiles.

"Make me proud boys!" he howls. "Give 'em Hell!"

(Ironically enough, three of the five rangers including this man, are women.)

The rangers let out a whoop and their pokemon charge forward.

OOC: Let me outline the situation a bit more.

Each of the five remaining rangers has a single pokemon out. The pokemon are:

- Heracross
- Snorunt
- Tyranitar (Pokemon of the Ranger wearing the ten-gallon hat)
- Prinplup
- Rhydon

They are surrounded by these grass pokemon:

- Bulbasaur
- Venasaur
- Gloom x2
- Bellsprout x3
- Hoppip x2
- Tropius
- Sceptile
- Breloom x2
- Roselia

If you take the time to notice, you do see to the side what appears to be a large gas storing canister lying horizontally along the ground. It appears to have exploded with its metal casing twisted and gnarled.

The gas container is between the forest and a large, two-story wooden building. Both have appeared to been on fire at some point in time recently, but have been put out. The logs of the building are scarred black while several nearby trees have fallen over. The smell of burnt wood permeates the air as tendrils of white smoke slowly rise from the ashes.

Near the fire lays a ranger. He shows no sign of movement. Next to him are two pokemon, a Starmie and Staryu. They do aren't moving.

In fact, glancing around the outpost and the surrounding area, bodies of pokemon lie scattered about. It isn't the massive carnage of a battlefield or war zone, but every ten yards lies another body. A psyduck with a deeply cut beak is curled up against a trunk. A charizard slumps over a fainted blastoise near the burnt building.

However, strangely, no grass pokemon appear to be lying about.

Let me know if you use any grass pokemon.

Also, I present to you your first objective.

Objective

1. Assist Ranger Outpost 1

I looked into Brian’s eyes. His plan, in my honest opinion, couldn’t work. Those vials of his would simply bring them to an area where everything was fine and dandy. And that would be destroyed as well.

I took out my falchion Aratu and held it tightly in my right hand. “No,” I whispered, and I swung the blunt part of my blade into his face. “I don’t like your plan. I’m going to help the Ranger’s directly. If we have all of those Pokemon following you, that Sceptile or maybe that Tropius is going to catch up to you. And kill you. Idiot, and we’ll die too. Our only chance is to stealthily pick them off one by one. Well, you can do that. I, for one, am going to murder the Pokemon on my own,”

At this I released my Staraptor. The bird of prey looked at me, his white feather plume beautiful in the setting sun. “C’mon, Star, we’re going,” I muttered to him, and used him as a mount.

This would be fun.

OOC: I feel like I'm monopolizing the RP.... POST EVERYONE!!! lol, and I think that the Eccentric Lunatics is pretty unanimous... Oh, and Cipher... I'm already ahead of the group, and definitely moving well beyond the reach of such pointless theatrics. Aand, I trust Max to be able to keep the pair off my back in case they get too close;

Oh, and a question: Do our Pokemon only know the Egg/MT/TM's and all that they know in the URPG, or can we have them with different ones, such as Sneasel with Ice Punch?

IC: I neared the edge of the clearing, the dying flames casting everything into a moving light, shadows flitting about crazily and distorting the reality of the situation. I took stock of the situation, the rangers standing wearily, clearly outnumbered. It looked like the only pokemon they had out that would be a problems would be Heracross. No way that bloke would manage to resist this scent, not in its nature.

There was nothing for it. I dropped another Pokeball, releasing Togepi. "Keep that Heracross here; charm it and put it to sleep. We can't have it running off with all the other Grass Pokemon here, but make sure to stay safe. I'll be back for you in a few minutes, Okay?"

There wasn't time to wait for an answer. I dashed off into the trees on my right, moving a little slower than I normally would have done in an effort to keep quiet. I kept a thick screen of trees and undergrowth between me and the clearing, catching only minute glances of the chaos that was taking place not ten yards away. The foliage was thick, lush, and cool. I was having a bit of trouble keeping from brushing against leaves and branches as I circled around the clearing until I could see that I was at the rear of the carnage.

"Max," I whispered, "make sure the quicker ones don't get their hands on me, and do as much damage as you can." Then to Crobat, "I'll need you to guide me through the forest; I'll be running as fast as I can and won't have time to pay attention to where I'm going. Make sure we don't run into any other Pokemon. We've already got a Grass Pokemon problem, we don't need to get more types that want to beat us into a pulp."

With that, I took one vial in my hands, and popped the stopper. I waited for just a few seconds so that the smell could permeate the distance to the struggling Pokemon, noting that Togepi was standing right next to the Heracross, which was looking drowsy. It was all down to this. I moved a few more paces into the trees, not yet running, because I needed the Pokemon to follow. My heart was pounding with anxiety, but finally I thought I saw the closest Pokemon, a Breloom, gave a twitch in my direction. It was all the indication that I needed. If they were going to follow me, then I didn't want to be around when they started coming.

I turned and raced off into the trees, listening hard for sounds of pursuit behind me as I swerved through the undergrowth behind Crobat, Max vanishing into the darkness the instant I broke into a run.

OoC: Just staying IC, Brainiac. It’s simple as staying true to my personality x3

IC: Startaptor zoomed out over the air, as I watched a Breloom chase after Brian. Well, if he wasn’t hosed, good for him. I somehow felt that the plan was destined to fail, as if some person had already planned the downfall of us all. Nevertheless, I was going to do this as well. Why should I let someone else have the fun.
The first Pokemon I saw was Bulbasaur. Green vines slapped around like whips, hitting trees and people alike. Thwack thwack thwack they went. I pulled out Arate and Arata, my black bladed katana. Staraptor descended to the ground, and I got off. I faced the Pokemon, green eyes staring at me, a large, green bulb on its back bulging. I motioned for it to attack. IT took a defensive stance, and I mounted Staraptor again.

He rose up into the air, black feathered wings repeatedly flapping back and forth. The wings made whooshing noises as they cut the air, which sounded like music to my earsw. Star sped at the Bulbasaur, my dark red hair flying behind me, and I slashed at the Bulbasaur with both of my katana, which turned into blurs of black metal as I sliced with them. A skillful hand could turn a stick into a deadly weapon, what could a skillful hand turn two deadly weapons into?
At this moment, Staraptor used a powerful Aerial Ace attack. The orange beak that was on his face went back and forth to the bulb on Bulbasaur’s back repeatedly, as the wings slapped it every once in a while. I was enjoying this.

OoC: This is where Mister Harriette Kimberly comes in, I believe. So Harry, if I understand what you’re going to do, you’re going to evaluate what I just did.

ooc: school is being stupid...

bic: Clay tried to take in his surroundings as quickly as he could, he knew that the lives of both people and Pokemon might be at stake. He groaned at the sight of all of the grass types, there was no way that he could take them on, especially with his limited type selection.

He was glad to see, however, that some of the enemy Pokemon were starting to head off toward the smell that Brian had planted. Well, at least that did something...

Realizing that he was still holding onto Empoleon's Pokeball, Clay quickly pressed the middle button one more time, causing a flash of red light and Empoleon materialized standing right in front of Clay.

"Use Waterfall and stop those flames from reaching the ranger!" Clay knew that the flames were providing them with light, so he didn't want them to go all the way out, but on the other hand, he couldn't allow them to reach the knocked out ranger either. As soon as he heard Clay's command, Empoleon made some weird movement with its arms, and water started materializing above the flames. Within seconds the strong downpour doused the flames for the most part, keeping the knocked out ranger safe, for now at least.

While Empoleon was putting out the fire, Clay grabbed another Pokeball and pressed the middle button twice, releasing the Pokemon. This time, Metagross came out, and awaited Clay's orders. The Steel type wasn't comfortable with other Pokemon around, and there were definitely a lot of Pokemon around. Given some of them were unconscious, but still.

"Just wait..." Before he ordered Metagross to attack any of the Grass types, he wanted to see which ones would be effected by the scent. He didn't want to attack one the was moving toward the scent, only to have a bunch of them attack him. For now, waiting was the best plan.

OOC: As you may have noticed, your team name is now "Eccentric Lunatics." You crazy people.

IC:

For those of you who are still at the camp, you notice the following pokemon withdraw from the rangers and start running in the direction that Brian left:

- Venasaur
- Tropius
- Sceptile
- Breloom x2

This leaves these pokemon surrounding the rangers:

- Bulbasaur
- Gloom x2
- Bellsprout x3
- Hoppip x2
- Roselia

The Remains of the Fire

Although having already been put out, Clay calls out Empoleon.

"Use Waterfall and stop those flames from reaching the ranger!" Clay commanded.

Empoleon, seeing only the faint embers of the remains of the fire, obeyed Clay and began shooting water from its mouth. The embers sizzle slightly and are no match for the sheer amount of water being poured upon them. There is absolutely no chance of the fire reigniting itself.

Seeing this, Clay calls upon Metagross. The large psychic pokemon appears and awaits his trainer's orders.

However, much happens in this short time.

Outpost 1

Swooping down from the sky, Staraptor and Slice fly as one. Bulbasaur is caught unaware as Staraptor strikes the grass pokemon with his wing, throwing it to its side.

However, it was already too late. Arate, Slice's katana, swept forward in brilliant, invisible stroke and in a single, fluid motion, cut the bulb right off of Bulbasaur's back. Bulbasaur screams in utter agony, a bone-chilling nightmare of a scream.

Not to be left out, Arata, the other black katana, shot downward. There is no sound this time. Arata has managed to cut cleanly through the entirety of Bulbasaur's body, splitting the pokemon into two halves, front and back.

As Slice flies away, Bulbasaur's remains slump to the ground as green blood and organs leak out. The soil is stained. Bulbasaur is dead.

The Chase

A powerful floral scent slowly spreads from the vial in Brian's hands. In the vial, it was concentrated, designed to attract the attention of every grass pokemon in the area. Only small amounts of it should be used, however, at any given time. To use more, like Brian is doing now, would be... disastrous.

The smell reaches the grass pokemon and they immediately turn to sniff the scent. A few stop halfway, as if suddenly gripped by a sense of control. These pokemon ignore the scent and turn back towards the rangers, closing the gaps their comrades left.

However, the larger and stronger pokemon move away towards the scent. They lumber and walk towards Brian, eyes shrinking as their inner instincts they over. They start slow at first, walking, but soon speed up into a trot... then a run.

And they charged forward, knocking trees out of the way, pushing and climbing over each other as they madly dashed towards Brian. Brian, you can easily hear their pursuit. The sounds of trunks and branches snapping, of primal screams, of stomping feat; all reach your ears.

And worst yet, they sound like they're coming closer and closer.

Crobat leads you into the dense forest. Max protects behind you.

You glance back and notice that Sceptile has managed to separate itself from the pack. It jumps wildly from trunk to trunk, using its powerful legs to bounce forward. It soon falls only a few meters behind you, near Max.

Its eyes glow white. It stares madly at you.

OOC: Brian, let me know what Max and you do. Do you all keep running; does it stay back and fight; fight and run; or what? What happens depends on your creativity and roleplaying.

Also note that while you did not see it, Togepi successfully charmed Heracross to sleep. Now the Rangers are down one pokemon. Good job.

Slice, now that you've attacked one of the grass pokemon, the others are going to strike. You managed to surprise one. You won't get that chance again. They know you're up there now. They're ready.

Clay, there is no fire. It has been put out.

I acknowledged Felix's kindness with a shy nod. I was quite hurt at Slice's comment to me about being nothing more than a child who would get in the way, so it was only natural that my self-esteem was crushed. Slice definitely wasn't on my list of favourite people.

Trying to compose myself, I noticed that Brian had already unleashed a scent to distract some of the Grass types. It seemed to have worked; I counted at least five Pokemon chase after Brian. But that still left almost ten Pokemon left. I thought that I may as well start helping out if I was going to be any use at all. I picked a Pokeball off of my belt and threw it into the air.

"Weavile, come on out!"

In a flash of white light, a Pokemon appeared on the ground. It appeared to be wearing a headdress made of feathers, but I knew that they were part of the Pokemon. It's razor sharp claws glinted from the remains of the fire, but the glow shortly died after Clay's Empoleon extinguished them. It was getting even harder to see, but I knew that Arcanine's Sunny Day wouldn't help the situation at all.

"Ok, Weavile. We need to help the Ran-,"

I cut off my sentence as I noticed Slice's attempt to help the problem. The scream from the little Bulbasaur sent a shiver down my spine and I did nothing but watch, paralyzed to the spot in fear. Slice was much more vicious than I thought.

It didn't end there. He then drew out another sword and sliced the Bulbasaur wide open. I flinched and hid my eyes, disturbed by the scene. Tears started to prick my eyes and I hurried to wipe them away. Weavile could tell that something was upsetting me, and came over to comfort me.

I regained my composure, trying not to look at the Bulbasaur's limp body. It angered me that he had to be so... so... boistrous. I couldn't let him get the better of me, though, and looked for a target for Weavile.

"Right. Weavile, let's help the man with the Tyranitar," I commanded. We both rushed to the ten-gallon hat wearing Ranger. "I want to help you. What should I do?" I asked, a bit unclear of whether to just faint the Pokemon, or do what Slice had done... I couldn't think the word.

The Bulbasaur lay before me, hot blood seeping from the now bloodstained bulb. I couldn’t help but smile at the scene before me. Pokemon were now starting to pick up on what I had done, and I was perfectly fine with that.

I sheathed Arate and Arata for a bit, and then pulled out Arato. My steel falchion was my favorite blade, and I could maneuver it from any part of my body. I put the blunt side of the blade in my mouth. I held it perfectly, and then pulled out my other blades. I sliced the air, and heard a reassuring whoosh from the blade.

The next Pokemon I decided to take out were the Bellsprout. I looked at the three leafy creatures. Three bell like heads, the color of cream, were balanced precariously on roots that were their bodies. Leaves served as hands, and the entire anatomy looked boring and weak.

I got off of Staraptor and faced the trio of little weak beings. I tossed two katana at the Bellsprout on either side, which were smaller and weaker looking than the middle one. I then took Arato out of my mouth and gripped it in my right hand. I stared at the middle Bellsprout, which started glowing white.

"Bring it on, little plant," I coaxed, "I hope you like life without a head."

OoC: Harry, that isn’t me bunnying, it’s me starting a request. I’d appreciate it if Bellsprout evolved into Weepinbell. It would be great if that would happen, as well as much more fu. It’s okay if it doesn’t happen. I’d just think it would be more of a challenge to me.

ooc: wow, i can't believe i screwed up on the fire, i even read and re-read that to make sure i wasn't going to screw up, but i still did...

bic: Now that the last of the fire had been put out and now had no chance of re-growing, Clay turned his attention back to the battle at large. It appeared that all of the fully evolved Grass types had followed Brian. This struck Clay as a little odd, you would think that only the weaker Pokemon would be effected, not just the strong ones...

Continuing to look around, he saw that there was a mutilated body of a Bulbasaur, probably the work of Mr. Happy-Hack-and-Slash. Although he had seen many sights on his journeys, nothing had prepared him for this, and he almost lost his lunch. Emploeon, seeing his distress, looking around, trying to find the enemy that might have caused this. Clay managed to tell the Water Pokemon it was okay and Empoleon relaxed, although just a little.

Realizing that he had to get some of the Grass types off the ranger's backs, Clay called out commands to his Pokemon. "Empoleon, use Blizzard on the two Hoppip, but keep it small and don't hit the rangers. Metagross, you use a Zen Headbutt attack on the Roselia."

Metagross, who was glad to not have to just stand there awkwardly, moved first. The Steel type used a Magnet Rise attack first, making it to levitate off the ground, allowing for much quicker movement. Now that it could move faster, Metagross speed forward, all four legs trailing behind. As it was moving toward the Roselia, Metagross's head started to glow a dark purple, which would transfer to the Grass Pokemon upon impact, causing damage.

Empoleon, on the other hand, was slightly more hesitant to act. So far none of the Pokemon had attacked Clay yet, and attacking them would probably just make them attack him. However, when he saw that Metagross was attacking them, Empoleon decided that Metagross's attack would probably provoke them anyway. After concentrating for a second, the Water type opened its mouth and a flurry of ice and snow came out, heading straight for the two Hoppip. As per Clay's command, Empoleon didn't use its full power on the attack, so there was a fair chance that the Hoppip would survive the attack, despite their extreme vulnerability to the cold.

I rushed off into the darkness, hearing sounds of Pokemon crashing through the trees behind me. Things were going as they were meant and it sounded like, if nothing else, Venasaur was in hot pursuit. I wasn't going to waste any time by looking back to check though; if Sceptile was giving chase then I would be hard pressed to stay in the lead without Max's help. Luckily, he had a few methods of dealing with faster Pokemon that should allow me to escape.

I tuned out the sounds of pursuit, focusing only on moving faster and heading where Crobat was leading. I knew that using the chemical in this concentrated a form was almost never advisable, but I hadn't had time to properly dilute it, and I was wary that I could be attacked by an uninvolved Pokemon.

As I ran, I was starting to have serious doubts about my plan. Sure, Max could keep them from catching up to me, but that would only help with Pokemon that were coming from behind. I knew it was only a matter of time before the Scent started attracting other Grass Pokemon that I didn't want to be involved and Pokemon started trying to intercept me.

Meh, I hated it when things went wrong. This was, of course, doomed to go wrong from the start, but I still hated things that didn't move smoothly. I replaced the stopper on the lid as I ran, then yelled out to Max.

"Max, Icy Wind on the Leader, then Ice Shard on whomever is most vulnerable, Tropius if its there." I didn't even look behind me, no time to wait and see the success of the hits which I new would be swiftly dished out. Max had a dead eye for accuracy and always had that way of knowing exactly where his attacks would be the most catastrophic. His Icy Wind was a technique that he had developed exceptionally well, even before I started training him; it was the basis of all his guerrilla tactics, make them too slow to counter attack, then beat the living daylights out of his foes from the shadows.

I focused on my next problem. "Crobat! As soon as I stop, 10 seconds, use Air Slash on any pursuing Breloom. If there are multiples, get them all, soon as you can manage, then use Cross Poison on Sceptile. After that, get to checking a Perimeter. We need to know if we've brought any new foes on us during our brief run."

I threw a Poke ball to the right, loosing Ephriam as I shouted, "Now, use Psychic on Venasaur, then Teleport around to whomever is going to cause the most trouble at your discretion."

I threw Caulder's Poke ball a few paces in front of me and yelled "Ice Fang on Sceptile" as I ran past the blossoming red light. Caulder gave a roar of rage at being being called out on dry land. Sure, he was able to function relatively well regardless, but water was always preferable. He immediately swung his head down towards the pursuing Sceptile, his jaws open wide and glittering with the forming ice, glowing softly on his largest fangs. His attack looked as though it would land in tandem with a stream of freezing wind that was headed towards the Sceptile's legs; Max's Icy Wind.

Even at that instant, Max was launching a deadly array of Ice Shard spears towards the low flying Tropius, second in line after Sceptile. Crobat launched itself feverishly at the first Breloom right behind that, a visible blade of air rushing away from it before it launched another right at the trailing Breloom. Venasaur, taking up the rear behind the second Breloom was suddenly impeded by Ephriam, who had Teleported to right in front of the lumbering giant.

I swiveled around to face the oncoming Pokemon and readied myself into a defensive stance, just as I saw Crobat zooming in towards Sceptile's exposed back, its wings glowing a faint violet. Nothing had made contact yet, but things looked good. I wouldn't stand a chance of fighting any Pokemon, but this stance wouldn't help me fight anyways. It was designed to allow me to turn the momentum of a foe's attack into a leap away from danger on my part, allowing me to escape with minimal damage if any of the pursuing Pokemon happened to get through my friends and get a hit on me.

It had only been around a minute since the bottle had been opened; maybe we would be lucky. I could still hear the distant sounds of a Pokemon cries from the outpost. We hadn't traveled far. If all else failed, I could send Crobat for assistance from anyone not preoccupied with the ranger base. I just hoped that not too many more of the Pokemon in that clearing were following.

I'd planned for the most powerful of the Grass Pokemon in the clearing being in pursuit, but the weaker ones could still be a problem through sheer volume alone, if nothing else. Unluckily, it appeared as though only the stronger Pokemon had broken off, and all my preparations were about to reveal their effectiveness. I just hoped it was enough to keep my friend safe; I knew they would risk their lives for me, but I hoped fervently that it wouldn't come to that.

I inwardly cursed my luck that it had come to the necessity of combat so soon. I had hoped to at least get out of earshot of the outpost before having to resort to violence. Now, any Pokemon investigating the cries of their fallen foes here could be drawn to the Outpost. Hopefully, the fighting there would be finished when I managed to steel myself away from here and return to the rest of the group.

(OOC: I'm acting as though I had no certain knowledge of which Pokemon are following me. I wouldn't know for sure, seeing as I've been running the whole time, but it makes sense to prepare for the strongest, and hope for the weakest.)

OCC: I'm officially back! =D

I just stood there and payed attention to what everyone was saying. I thought Brainy's plan seemed good, but I also thought that him going alone was a horrible idea, so, while everyone was distracted by the current situation, I stepped away from the group and watched. As I saw Brainy running, I tried running after him with a determined look in my face. Nancy the Delcatty followed me sharing the same expression.

Still, just as Brainy ran, many grass type Pokemon followed him. I hustled and hoped that I wasn't too late. I thought that the goal was to help keep Brainy alive, but I also thought that the goal wasn't to hurt the Pokemon, so I ran right behind the grass types and took out a Pokeball.

"Galateah, it's showtime!" I shouted hoping that the noice would get the grass Pokemon's attention.

I threw the Pokeball and, as it opened, a Butterfree came out in a flash of light. The Butterfree flew right next to me.

I pointed forward towards the grass Pokemon and said, "Look lively now! Sleep Powder and Tailwind! Make a beauty spectacle for these grass types!"

I did heard Brainy's commands, but I was hoping the Tailwind would give Galateah enough speed to get there before Brainy's Pokemon did. With a bit of luck, I'll do more good than harm.

Galateah the Butterfree gracefully swirled a bit in the air while tossing upward a cloud of glittery blue dust. Then, while joyously making her "free-e-e" sound, she flew swiftly towards the grass Pokemon with her Tailwind both increasing her speed and dragging the Sleep Powder. She tried zigzagging over the grass types making the sleep powder dragged by the Tailwind rain over the Pokemon.

OCC: Like I mentioned in her description, Galateah requires contest styled moves. Also, yeah...were we SUPPOSED to hurt the grass types? ^^;

OOC: Heh Slice, don't underestimate them. You've done some terrible things to them and they may not like you very much.

Oh, considering this is a very interesting group, if you're not holding back and willing to kill the pokemon, let me know. (Looking at Slice.) This helps me figure out what the results of your actions are... as brutal as they may be.

Also, good observation Clay. Glad you guys are finding all the small details.

IC:

Ranger Bill Reynolds and Mark Chate

Mark ran over to the Ranger with Tyranitar.

"I want to help you. What should I do?" he asks.

The Ranger glances over at Mark, scanning him over with his eyes, then nods.

"Yah, I could use your help," he acknowledges, "Name's Bill Reynolds, but you'll call me Bill. I'm the Head Ranger here."

He points at Slash.

"Now, I don't agree with your friend there, killing 'mon," he drawls, "But maybe that's the right idea."

A vine whip flies over his shoulder as he quickly dodges to the right.

"Tyranitar, stop them with Fire Fang!" he ordered. He glances over at Mark. "Knock them if possible, kill them if have to. That's our way."

Slice vs. Grass Pokemon

The grass pokemon near Slice glare at him. Their white eyes seem to darken considerably and the same menacing expression marks all their faces. Then they shoot out.

The middle bellsprout began to glow a heavenly white, but not the sparkle of evolution. No, it was growing larger as it pulled nutrients from the ground. It seemed stronger, faster.

Slice throws his two katanas at the two bellsprout near him. Arate, shoots forward and manages to slice a bellsprout across the face. Green, acidic blood seeps from its face. It doesn't scream however.

Arata misses the other bellsprout, which dodges away. It strikes, blade first, into the dirt, sticking out at an angle.

Slice raises his blade, Arato, at the middle bellsprout. However, suddenly he stumbles forward. He looks up, only to see a Hoppip staring at him. Small wisps of green energy seem to pull out from Slice's body and flowing into Hoppip's. The pokemon was draining Slice!

However, before Slice can absorb all of this, a series of sharp petals rush past him. Slice tries to dodge out of the way, only to find one of the bellsprout, the one he cut, holding his legs in place with its fines. Bellsrpout glares up at him.

The petals, launched from a Gloom, strike Slice directly in the chest, knocking him back. Several of them gash open his shirt, bloodying it. Slash feels a trickle of blood running down his cheek, realizing his face had been cut as well.

Luckily for Slice, he manages to hold onto Arato due to his training and experience. Unfortunately, the bellsprout he did not hit pulls out Arata from the dirt, light soil still clinging to its blade. Vines tightly grip Arata's handle.

"Bellsprout!" it roars and swings the blade downward upon Slice's prone body.

The glowing bellsprout stops growing. It charges forward at Slice.

Slice: Bleeding, Grappled (Vines on the Feet), Under Attack

Clay

Metagross rushes Roselia, glowing a light purple. However, Roselia, tiny as it is, easily dodges out of the way, dancing gracefully to the side. Although, as graceful as it was, it somehow seemed... unnatural... forced.

Unfortunately, with its bulk and speed, Metagross is unable to stop. It crashes into Rhydon, pushing Rhydon back a meter. Rhydon grunts.

Meanwhile, Roselia lifts its two hands into the air and emits a strange powdery substance. It quickly fills the area. Each powder seems to sparkle, choking the air.

By the time Empoleon manages to shoot the flurry of ice and snow, Hoppip had moved on to fight Slice, leaving its partner alone. Hoppip, slow to react, is blasted by the attack, and it is wildy throw back against the wooden building, behind the rangers. Ice burns appear on its body, but it manages to stand up. It doesn't glare at Empoleon and instead, opens its mouth. A cloud of powdery spores launch outwards, joining Roselia's attack. The air is clogged.

The Rangers

Although the Rangers fight on, sending their pokemon to launch attacks at the remaining grass pokemon, the grass pokemon either take the hits or dodge away from them. Then, as if planned, they release into the air one form of powder or another.

It comes to the point where even some of the powder sticks to others, creating powdered clumps that fall to the ground. They remain there, slowing growing like a small woolen Mareep.

The air smells like a heavy, fragrant perfume, too thick to be enjoyable. Taking a whiff, one feels strangely.

The Rangers, one-by-one, experience the effects.

The Chase

However, Brian and Felix have their own problems to worry about.

Max turns around and heaves in heavily. A second later, it shoots out a gust of wind, drastically cooled by the Sneasel within his own body. Max, able to accurately track Sceptile through the darkness, stuck quickly, predicting where Sceptile would jump to next. He was right. Sceptile jumps directly into the wind, not noticing Max. Immediately, Sceptile shivers and slips upon the fungi of a nearby tree. It falls behind as the other grass pokemon catch up.

However, Max, busy with Sceptile, is too slow to deal with Tropius. Distracted by the scent, however, Tropius only stomps over Max, leaving a deep imprint on Max where it steps. Max howls in pain, but is ignored by Tropius. It charges forward.

Max weakly launches an ice shard at Tropius, but it misses, tumbling to the ground.

Max: 73%

Caulder strikes Sceptile, who had since fallen due to Icy Wind. Caulder's cold fangs bite deep into Sceptile's shoulder. Sceptile's high pitch scream pierces the air. Its pupils grow in size.

It slashes its tail violently, releasing a violent swirl of leaves. Instead of being launched however, the leaves dance around the two pokemon, striking both of them as they twist about. A storm of the sharp plants rage around them. Caulder is struck many times.

Caulder: 39%

Ephriam teleports swiftly, a flickering ghost dancing between the trees. He immediately spots Venasaur, which had been following the Breloom.

Ephriam's eyes glowed blue and a hazy aura forms around Venasaur. Venasaur is caught unaware ad Ephriam throws Venasaur from the ground, pinning it against a large tree. Venasaur struggles against the mental grip, but cannot escape.

"Venasaur!" it yells as it stares at Ephriam wildy.

Crobat searches for Breloom through the dark forest, finally spotting one. He flaps his wing wildly, launching a sharp blade of air at Breloom. Breloom, not spotting the slash, is struck directly. It cries out as it tumbles backwards into a bush.

Crobat glances around, but doesn't see the other Breloom. He does spot Sceptile, who had just been bitten by Caulder. Carrying out his orders, he charges forward, opening his wide jaw. Poison coats his fangs.

A tornado of leaves suddenly sweeps up around Caulder and the Sceptile. However, following his orders, Crobat charges into the leaves. With heightened sense, Crobat easily targest Sceptile and bites deeply into the grass pokemon, injecting his poison into it. Sceptile screams again. Leaves batter Crobat's fragile body. Sceptile passes out.

Crobat: 67%

Galateah, Felix's Butterfree, flies briskly, using her speed to reach the site of Brian's battle. With grace, she releases a spread of sleep powder upon the forest, as if she were a crop duster. The powder lightly falls upon the pokmon. Unfortunately, by then, Brian's pokemon had already engaged the grass pokemon. The powder falls upon them too.

Caulder: 39%, Asleep
Ephriam: 100%, Asleep

Venasaur and Breloom fall asleep.

However, one remaining Breloom, manages to slip through the density of the pokemon. It charges Brian, both its fists raised. Brian, prepared, dodges backwards as Breloom's fist swings forward, centimeters away from his body. Being a fighting type, however, Breloom presses forward, bring his other fist around. It strikes across Brian's face, forcing Brian to stumble backwards still. A big bruise forms on Brian's cheek.

"Breloom!" it cries. A frenzied rage upon its face.

OOC:

In regards to the Ranger Outpost, I'm giving you all a chance to do what you want in regards to the powder. You and your pokemon aren't stunned, asleep, or poisoned... yet. Depending on what you do, we'll see if this is the case or not. Remember, the powder is very thick. Quite a few pokemon released their spores into the air.

Slice, you are in a predicament. More than half of the remaining group has targeted you. You are also a little drained of energy. Good luck.

Brian, you notice that your clothes smell a little bit like the aroma. Being a capture specialist, you know that there is one more reason why people don't use the aroma in such a concentrated form - it has a better chance of getting on one's clothing.

"Arg! I didn't wanted them to fall asleep," I said to myself as me and Nancy ran towards the sleeping Pokemon.

As we ran, I looked up at Galateah and shouted, "Outstanding! Now, dive forward and wrap Breloom up. Confusion and String Shot!"

Galateah let out of her mouth a spray of strings and her eyes began to glow. The String Shot began to levitate suddenly as Galateah was controlling it with her mind. It headed towards Breloom, trying to surrounding it and try it up.

While Galateah made her performance, Nancy and I got to were the Sleeping Pokemon were. I snuck around the grass Pokemon and also payed attention to the ground, stepping over and around the few twigs in the floor to make less noice. I took out another Pokeball and opened it. In a flash of light, a Glaceon appeared. She sat down silently and awaited instructions.

"Rita, keep an eye on these sleeping grass Pokemon. Strike them down with Blizzard at the slightest sign of them waking up," I whispered to her. Rita the Glaceon nodded and turned towards the Grass Pokemon. She stood on all four legs, staring at the targets; she was rather anxious to surprise them with a Blizzard.

I noticed the Alakazam and the Gyarados sleeping on the floor and looked down at Nancy just as she looked up towards me. I smiled at her and said, "Go for it."

Nancy neared the Alakazam. "Alright, Heal Bell," I said with low gentle voice. She extended her front right paw and the bells around her neck began to shime in a soothing manner and gave a small glow that headed towards Alakazam. "Once you are done there, don't forget to help the Gyarados too."

OOC: BTW, will Heal Bell heal a bit of HP as well? It seems to do that on the anime.

Brainy

I absorbed the failure of the initial attack stoically as Breloom advanced, for it was indeed a failure. Ephriam, my most reliable partner had been accidentally incapacitated by Felix, and Caulder, who was most in need of attention and needed to keep from getting into more trouble, could now no longer move. Sceptile was down, and the Breloom that Crobat had hit was sleeping, looking seriously beat. Venasaur didn't look too good either, but it was asleep and not about to cause a problem.

As I dodged the first attack from Breloom, I thought up a plan quickly, then scrapped it just as quickly when I saw Felix's Butterfree sending it's tangle of strings our way. I had thought to hit the Breloom with a Dusk ball; with it being night, it would take a few seconds struggle before it could escape confinement and attack again, but that would just make Butterfree's attack ineffective, and I would probably be the one getting tangled up instead.

There was little I could do in this situation except for try and keep from being caught up when the hopeful help arrived. However, Tropius was still advancing frantically, and then it hit me. The vial! Though I had closed it, I must have spilled a few drops on my clothing during the run. While my mind was racing, I failed to notice the jab coming from the left in my blind spot. I reeled backwards with the force of the blow, my neck snapping backwards uncomfortably and the skin tingling in my jaw where the hit had landed. Already I could feel my skin starting to bruise, and possibly bleed a little from the hit.

Without wasting another second, I shouted again to Max and Crobat, who had both thankfully managed to avoid severe injury.

"Crobat, Max, take Tropius down before it becomes a problem. Use Icy Wind, Max, and Crobat use Air Slash. If it's still able to move, Max finish it off. Crobat, after that, I need you to use Confuse Ray on this Breloom."

All the while I was not looking at all at the pair I was addressing, but trying to keep as much distance between myself and the Breloom as possible.

"Eph!" I called to the sleeping Alakazam, again without turning. "I know that you can hear me. Teleport away if you get in any immediate danger. When you wake up, take care of Venasaur and Breloom as best you can. If they hear the bell, it could wake them up as well. they should both be weakened enough that they shouldn't be much of a problem, but you never can tell. After you make sure they're safe, keep Caulder from thrashing around too badly. He's been injured, and as soon as I can get over there I'll let him rest in his Poke ball."

With that, I devoted all my energy to keeping far enough away from Breloom that I wouldn't get caught up in the attack coming from Butterfree, thankful that it seemed to be intent only on getting me and not bothering with the other Pokemon.

Togepi

As the battle raged onwards, Togepi was happily oblivious to her surroundings. She was playing on the snoring Heracross like a children's playground, and only noticed that things were not well when suddenly powder started floating through the air. Looking around, she saw the various Grass Pokemon making the equally diverse spores, and suddenly decided that it didn't like the spores. Nobody could see her dancing and having fun if the air was full of little dots!

She couldn't think of how to make them go away. She did the only thing that she knew to do with little dots, which she had been told to do by Brainy last time that she had seen dots. Without any apparent strain, Togepi used a Safeguard attack. A soft glow seemed to envelop her, and after a few seconds of frowning in concentration, A similar glow started growing from the Pokemon around that weren't sending the little dots.

The infant Pokemon was still young, and obviously didn't have enough power to glow all the big Pokemon that were around, but the nearby people looked like they didn't like the dots either, and Togepi put a little extra effort into trying to keep the people glowing. After all, the people were the ones who always gave her the most attention. If she saved them from the dots they would probably watch her play on the big blue horn for a while, or maybe they would even rub her tummy!

OOC: With Alakazam, I'm acting under the conjecture that since Abra spent 18+ hours a day sleeping, and yet still was able to battle and move around, that Alakazam would at least be able to remain aware, even while its body slept...

EDITED!!:: Oh, I almost forgot... I'm acting under the assumption that the Breloom hit by Crobat's attack is also the one that is asleep, and therefore very close to incapacitated as well, leaving the other Breloom at basically full health.

Clay groaned as his attacks failed to do very much, if anything at all. The Hoppip, who had been hit by and Ice type attack, didn't seem to have taken much very damage, and the Roselia had been completely unhurt. Also, now there was powdery stuff floating though the air, and it was headed straight for him.

Now cursing himself for not bringing his Bronzong with, Clay started to back up, away from the every advancing powder. Suddenly, small glow started to envelope him and some of the other Pokemon and Trainers. Realizing that the Togepi must have used Safeguard, Clay immediately stopped backing up. Knowing full well that the small Normal type was the only thing keeping them from falling asleep, or worse, Clay grabbed another one of the Pokeballs on his belt.

After pressing the button twice, Clay let out another one of his Pokemon, Magnezone. "Magnezone, go over by that Togepi and protect it." Rather slowly, the Electric type started to move over to where the Togepi had been sitting on the ground. Once it had reached the other Pokemon, Magnezone stopped and didn't move, hoping that the baby Pokemon wouldn't perceive it as a threat.

Now that Togepi was safe, for now, Clay knew that his next important objective was to get rid of the spores. "Empoleon, use a Mist attack, but aim it at those spores." Understanding what Clay wanted him to do, the Water type opened its mouth and started to spew out a heavy Mist. Right away, the spores mixed with the mist, and the spores started to get damp. Now much heavier, the spores started to slowly drift to the ground.

Metagross, unlike his companions, didn't wait for a command from Clay. Without hesitating, the Steel type shot forward toward Roselia again, still levitating off the ground. This time, instead of using a Zen Heabutt attack, Metagross decided to go with one that was sure to hit. As it was moving forward, Metagross brought one of its arms in front of it, ready to slash forward. Now Metagross was prepared to use Aerial Ace on the Roselia once it got close enough.

I took everything into my mind in the split second that I had. A Bellsprout was charging at me, another attacking me with a blade. Yet another Bellsprout was using its vines to keep my feet firmly in place, and a Hoppip and Gloom were watching the spectacle, a bit of admiration in their eyes for the trio of Bellsprout’s tenacity. I can’t say I didn’t admire there tenacity, but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t die for it. Not to mention the Gloom had bloodied my shirt and face; it would die.

First, I used my crimson bracer to smack back the incoming blade, knocking it out of the hands of the Bellsprout and sending it in a clockwise turn to slice the Bellsprout straight in half. I hadn’t earned my name by coincidence, after all. Next, I took Arato and slammed the blade into the vines of the Bellsprout holding my feet firmly against the ground. I smiled contently as I watched the vines shrivel, detached from their master.

Next, I had to take care of the Bellsprout speeding towards me. I pulled out two of my daggers from my bracer, and flung them at it. Then, I took grabbed Arato from the ground, flecks of dirt sticking to the beauty of a blade, and readied myself. If anything came close to me, I was ready to slash it in half.

I gritted my teeth, watching as the daggers flew. They were red blurs, sent from my trained hands. I held onto my blade, it was my livelihood. If I lost it…I would be stuck with one dagger. My eyes darted around. The Bellsprouts were more resilient than they looked. I had to get back to Staraptor, it was my only chance. If I could mount him once again, I could slash off heads. It would be wonderful; an Aerial Ace and Arato.

And after that, I would pick up my blades again, and take out the rag I kept in my pocket. I would wipe the fresh blood off of them, and smile.

But now was not the time for smiling; it was the time to fight. I stared at the daggers, all the while keeping my eyes close to the other Pokemon. I moved backwards extremely quickly, furthering myself from the rushing Bellsprout and the one whose hand-vines were removed: it might get an idea or two.

While this all transpired, Staraptor was ready as well. It stared at the Hoppip, and then, insanely quick, sped towards it and hit it to the ground with a wing, using his beak to tear out pieces of the pink flesh and fling them aside, using them as bait to ward the Grass Pokemon away from his master.

OoC: Harry, this is fantastic. I haven’t gotten so much fun out of an RP since TRPIV. Thanks. Oh, and Staraptor used Aerial Ace, btw, just so you know ^^’

OOC: I'm really glad that you like the Mission. This is turning out quite well.

Just a note. It is night by the way. The people at the Ranger Outpost are fine because the place is lit, but those of you in the forest... well, let's just say there are consequences to moving about in the dark.

IC:

The Chase

"Outstanding!" cried Felix at Galateah, "Now, dive forward and wrap Breloom up. Confusion and String Shot!"

Galateah dived forward in the darkness of night, using her mental abilities to keep track of her location. With only the dim lighting of the rising moon, it was difficult to see any of the action, much less make out any of the figures. But luckily for Galateah, she and Felix had coordinated their efforts before and she could detect the mental energies of the Breloom in question.

She shot a fury of sticky web-like string towards Breloom, guiding its course with her psychic abilities. Breloom, unaware of the aerial assault, did not even dodge the attack, and was caught by the graceful attack. It fell backwards as the web wrapped around its feet and torso, preventing it from continuing the assault on Brian. It growled as it struggled against the binds.

"Crobat, Max, take Tropius down before it becomes a problem," commanded Brian as Breloom's attacks ceased, "Use Icy Wind, Max, and, Crobat, use Air Slash. If it's still able to move, Max finish it off. Crobat, after that, I need you to use Confuse Ray on this Breloom."

Tropius, although one of the slowest of the grass pokemon, had steadily chased Brian as he ran through the forest. Now, having passed the other pokemon, stood only a few meters away from the trainer. Brian looks up, only to see a fuming Tropius, its nostrils flaring as it breathes in the surrounding air deeply.

However, no sooner had it come within range when Max, Brian's Sneasel, launched a howling, chilling wind at Tropius from behind. Max had managed to weakly stand after being stepped on and using all his willpower, ignored the pain and launched the attack. However, the recoil of the wind itself knocked Max back to the ground. It is then that Max notices that Tropius had stepped upon his left leg. It was fractured.

Max: 72%, Fractured Left Leg

Crobat, on the other hand, finds better success. Strafing Tropius, Crobat crosses his arms for a brief moment, then flings them outward, shooting a blade of air at Tropius. The blade strikes across Tropius' back and it cries in pain.

Tropius turns towards Crobat, eyeing it warily. It pauses its chase and lifts off into the air. With great force, Tropius crosses its plant-like wings and releases a sharp gust at Crobat. Crobat, having to face Tropius to attack it, fails to dodge out of the way and takes the attack full force.

Crobat: 41%

At this, Tropius completely abandons the forest floor, joining Crobat and Galateah in the air.

Nancy, the Delcatty, hops forward towards the sleeping Ephriam. Although asleep, the Alakazam remained aware of his surroundings and gently touches the edges of Nancy's mind, informing her of his presence. Nancy nods serenely and with a small breath, she quietly sings a few notes. To Ephriam, though, they sounded like the chimes of a bell. Ephriam, understanding the technique, follows the sounds of Nancy's melody, pushing his mind forward passed the barriers that separated his unconscious and conscious states. He opened his eyes.

The two pokemon share a look, one thanking the other. Nancy smiles in response, turning to find the Gyarados. She glances back a moment before racing off.

Ephriam: 100%, Awake

The grass pokemon continue to sleep as Rita guards them closely. Her icy bangs almost stand on end with anticipation.

It's at this point that Galateah notices a very distinct, very appealing scent coming from down below. In fact, it seems to be coming from the area where she had just captured Breloom. What is that amazing smell?

Ranger Outpost 1

The multitude of powder clogs the air, making it difficult to breathe without also breathing in any number of them. They dance thickly through the air, floating like falling snow.

A Togepi, small and childlike, steps forward from her Heracross stage and with a tiny bow, began to glow brightly. A light aura began to surround her, like a spotlight from Heaven. And as the glow brightened, similar auras began to form around the various forms around her. Human and pokemon alike began to glow.

Although fighting, to Togepi they appeared as angels. The snow fell around them gently.

Togepi: 100%, Safeguard
Staraptor: 100%, Safeguard
Metagross: 100%, Safeguard
Empoleon: 100%, Safeguard

In addition, Slice, Mark, Clay, and Kasha are surrounded by this aura. You all glow. Ranger Reynolds and his Tyranitar also gain this aura.

Everyone and everything else, one by one, fall to the ground. They appear to be asleep, paralyzed, or otherwise passed out.

The grass pokemon, however, are not affected.

Clay, glancing as ranger and pokemon alike fall over, takes immediate action.

"Empoleon, use a Mist attack, but aim it at those spores," he orders.

Empoleon, heaves in deeply. He breathes in several spores, but is unaffected due to Togepi's glow around him. He holds it for a second, before finally releasing the air, infusing it with numerous particles of water.

A large and damp mist slowly forms around the encircled battlefield in front of the outpost. As the air moistens, you notice the various particles floating around to start to sink towards the ground. The powders have absorbed the water and become too heavy to float around. Soon the air is cleared of the snowy mess, leaving a light cottony layer about the ground.

Unfortunately, the mist diminishes the already difficult vision present at night. Slice, Mark, and Clay lose sight of each other, save for the radiant glows still surrounding them. Mark can still see Ranger Reynolds and Tyranitar.

Knowing that Togepi was key to remaining unfazed, Clay orders Magnezone to protect her. Magnezone moves near Togepi, gazing outwards into the haze, ready for anything.

Despite the mist, Metagross presses his assault upon the very visible, very close Roselia. Flying forward, Metagross, swings his arms upwards and sharply crashes them downwards upon Roselia. Roselia, unable to dodge aside, cries out, and is thrown to the side by the impact of the force.

However, it recovers immediately, using its feet to regain balance. It twirls violently, shooting out sharp, glowing leaves at Metagross. The leaves strike Metagross, like a barrage, leaving tiny cuts upon its metallic body.

Metagross: 79%, Safeguard

The grass pokemon, at least those near Slice, continue to assault the swordsman. Slice, however, won't give them any easy hits.

Shooting out his arm, he blocks the sword attack by Bellsprout, knocking Arata to the side. Although the blade flung towards another Bellsprout. Unfortunately, without Slice's precise control, the Bellsprout easily manages to dodge the swirling blade, bending its stem-like body to avoid it. Arata finds itself sticking into the dirt, once again.

In the same, fluid motion, Slice brings down Arato upon the vines grappling his feet. The blade smoothly cuts through the vines, detaching them from Bellsprout. Bellsprout screams as green liquid rushes from where the vines used to be. It backs away from Slice, waving its leaves, having lost its arms.

Slice smiles in satisfaction as the vines shrivel.

He quickly looks up, grasping two daggers from his bracers. Uncrossing his arms, he flings the daggers outward towards the charging Bellsprout. This time, though, the blades strike true.

The first blade, slices through the lower half of Bellsprout, cutting off its legs. Bellsprout, carried by momentum, flings forward... directly into the second blade. Without warning, the blade slices Bellsprout's head directly off of its stem body. Its bulbous head registers shock as green liquid oozes from the wound. The head flies backwards, bounding out of sight into the mist.

Slice, having killed another pokemon, smiles again. With a gleam in his eyes, he backs away, holding Arato high.

Staraptor dives forward at Hoppip, hoping to tear out a piece of its pink flesh. However, Hoppip, aware of Staraptor, jumps to its side, refocusing its attention upon Staraptor. As Staraptor rises into the air again, it feels a portion of its energy being drained away.

Staraptor: 76%, Safeguard

At this point, each and every trainer near a grass pokemon notices that every grass pokemon shrieks intensely, at the same time. More than a growl or a roar, it is a shrill yell that pierces the bone and hurts your ears. You cover them to block out the sound.

The pokemon near Brian and Felix suddenly change. Their pupils vanish and their eyes turn pure white, just like before Brian used the scent. Their moves continue as before, but they are less random and less wild.

As you cover your ears, Clay, you watch as a something rolls towards you from the mist. As you stare, it finally comes to a rest at your feet. It is then that you finally realize what it is. There, lying in front of you, is the decapitated head of a Bellsprout. Its eyes stare blankly into your own as green blood splatters the ground.

OOC: Just of note, the two grass pokemon near Brian and Felix are still asleep. They did not shriek, though Ephriam does notice something very odd about them. To him, their mental auras seemed to shift. It is unusual as only pokemon with psychic abilities can do this.

It all became so dark. I was worried as I noticed Galateah had dived for some reason, but I couldn't pinpoint her location.

I then felt something pass by me. Judging by the size, it must have been a Tropius. Brian's commands to his Pokemon confirmed it. I grabbed another one of my Pokeballs and opened it letting out a Gallade. It looks quite calm, although I could tell he could feel my worry.

"Esteban, I need you to focus and find a Tropius in the air."

Esteban nodded and closed his eyes while scannin the area with his psychic abilities. He opened his eyes widely and looked up directly at the flying grass Pokemon.

"Aerial Ace."

Esteban began to run and suddenly vanished from sight. At that moment, I also remembered I had Nancy to worry about as she had gone to find that Gyarados. I wasn't sure if this was going to work, but I had to give it a try.

"Nancy, try using Foresight. Maybe it'll help you see better."

That only left me with Galateah to worry about it. Sure, she can see better in the dark than me, but she was probably being distracted by something else. In these conditions, having her out wasn't such a good idea.

"Galateah, dazzle everyone with your Safeguard!"

I grabbed Galateah's Pokeball as I awaited her display of color to reveal her location so I could call her back into her ball.

As a light breeze flapped my hair, a quickly rushed to my katana. I pulled it out of the dirt, and took a slash at the Bellsprout which was still near me. I then once again backed up, and quickly assessed my surroundings. A Mist was surrounding me; I could still see the Grass Pokemon and Staraptor, but I couldn’t see the other people. I glanced at Star, and nodded. He let out a powerful Gust attack, his wings flapping madly back and forth. It was aimed at the Hoppip, but it was also meant to clear some of the Mist away from my general vicinity. The others I could care less about.

I looked at the Pokemon. The Gloom wasn’t really doing anything, and the Hoppip had dodged Star’s attack. I had successfully decapitated a Bellsprout, missed one of them, and then delimbed another. I had slashed at the one which Arata had missed. I sheathed Arata, and held Arato in both hands. The Pokemon had shrieked. It was a random, hellish screech. Uncalled for, unnesecary…I’d put them out of their misery.

I rushed at the armless Bellsprout, a surprised look on its face as I thrust my blade where its neck would be. I felt my breath getting heavier; I needed to mount Staraptor. I was getting tired. I smiled as a bead of sweat dripped down my nose. This was getting fun.

Brainy

The smell permeating the air was not a good sign. It seemed as though Breloom was using a Sweet Scent attack; however, since it was incapacitated by the tangled mess it was trapped in, I could put some distance between myself and the mushroom mon. I stumbled away, then saw what I knew would be Tropius, finally airborne and moving towards me still.

“Eph; You’ve free reign on Tropius and then whatever needs doing.”

I was slightly puzzled that Tropius was still standing before I heard Max’s grunt of pain. He’d been injured worse than I’d thought, and Togepi wasn’t around to help either. I called Crobat over and had him lead the way to Max, who I could see was clutching his left leg in frustration.

“Max, you’ve done an awesome job, no troubles, the situation is pretty much cleaned up at this point. Rest in your Pokeball and I’ll get you fixed up proper as soon as I get some good light.”

As Max vanished, I nodded to Crobat. “Looks like the time for mercy and considerate fair play is beyond us. Breloom and Venasaur are out for the moment. I want you to use Leech life on Venasaur and then Breloom until there isn’t anything left for them to offer; We don’t want them to be strong enough to even rock side to side in agony once they finally wake up; if they do show signs of waking before you finish, unlikely as that may be, use Poison Fang to finish them off.”

As Crobat zipped over to the motionless Pokemon, I grabbed out Caulder’s Poke ball and moved over towards the rather obvious bulk of the hulking sea serpent Pokemon. I nodded to the Delacatty and watched impassively as my friend disappeared in another flash of dim red light, taking the opportunity to look around at the flattened plants and fallen trees all around us; I could see the corridor of trees fallen by the pursuit of our leafy friends. Getting back to the Ranger outpost would be a snap.

Ephriam

I heard the call of Brian as he moved around to attend to my friends. I was intrigued by the shift of the fallen Venasaur and Breloom; I would have to investigate as soon as I had taken care of the current remaining threats.

I vanished into the air, coming into being behind the form of Brian, waking over to investigate on Maximillian; I had difficulty sensing his condition because of his dark nature. I could tell that he had been injured however. Tropius would be little problem. I raised a hand and released a Charge Beam attack at the now flying Pokemon. It would find him easily in the air, and I raised another arm to the entangled Breloom. Galateah was moving towards him; It wouldn’t do to let them meet up. I launched a Psybeam at him.

The visible ray of faintly glowing violet energy soared the distance between me and the fighting type with apparently no air resistance, and I erected a Reflect between the swooping Galateah and Breloom, the barrier of shimmering air would hopefully impede the swooping bug long enough that Breloom would be rendered unconscious before any contact could be made. I then determined to experiment on the sleeping Breloom and see if there was something that I could do to influence its strange psychic shift of mind.

I used a Confusion attack against it, attempting to shift its frame of mind yet again, now into a state of disorder rather than purpose. This would most likely leave the creature completely incapacitated and unlikely to be of much nourishment to the approaching Crobat who had already greedily zoomed towards the fallen Venasaur, fangs bared eagerly.

Even at this same instant, I focused on Brian, ready to teleport myself to his aid if there became any danger. However, something in the distance caught my attention. It was the faint sound of agonized shrieking, and I reached my mind out towards the Outpost that we had run from so recently. I could pick out the feelings of pain and confusion from the defending Pokemon, and that strange sense of purpose from the Grass types, but the only mind I could really single out was Togepi, because I was familiar with the girl.

I could tell that she was in no immediate danger, and it seemed as though she had done a reasonable job at protecting some of the defenders around her. I sent her a distinct impression of danger. It was hard for her to comprehend the idea of something wanting to harm her, but once she understood, she was actually quite the capable little warrior.

I focused again on the area immediately surrounding my body, thankful that all this had taken only seconds; I don’t know how I had managed as an Abra when I couldn’t properly concentrate on so many different thoughts and actions at once.

Togepi

Suddenly, I realized how dangerous this place was. People weren’t watching because they were in danger! A big metal friend moved over and was hovering in the way so that people couldn’t watch, so I must have been being protected. I waved at him to let him know that I would be ok probably if he would just get out of the way so that I could see some of the battles going on. I saw around the persistent bobble-head as the people that weren’t glowey started to fall. That just wasn’t good! I would have to help them up so that they could pay attention to me once the danger was over!

I thought really hard about them getting up and being better, seeing all those people that were covered in red water and lying on the ground, not looking at all safe or interested in me. I Wished that they would be better, and I saw the other big metal Metagross, who was also floaty head, but with arms get hit too. I Wished for him to be okay, and then Wished my stage would be better so that it could make me taller and able to see over the floaty head that was still in my way.

Honestly, didn’t these people know how to appreciate me properly? I would have to work hard to make them pay attention, because obviously they thought they were too busy to worry over me at the moment.

OOC: Well, it's been long enough and three roleplayers is good enough to continue. On with the adventure!

IC:

Ranger Outpost 1

Slice ran to Arata, pulling it smoothly from the ground. Bits of dirt still clung to its smooth and sharp blade. In a single motion, he sweeps the blade upward, towards the charging Bellsprout. Predicting this, the Bellsprout springs backwards, using its limber body to flip away from the sword. It jumps back several meters out of reach. Slice also backed away.

Staraptor, understand Slice's wordless command, dove forward towards the Hoppip, sweeping his wings quickly downwards. Each sweep shot a powerful burst of air forward, creating a strong gust of wind. Hoppip, caught in the gust, spins wildly into the air. With its light body, Hoppip can't fight against the surging forces and flies madly into the forest, crying out all the while.

The attack, in addition, does manage to remove the mist from around the outpost.

Slice, spots the armless Bellsprout, and charges forward, thrusting his blade at its neck. However, the Bellsprout runs backwards, directly away from his position, keeping just out of range of his blade.

At the same moment, a series of sharp leaves fly towards Slice from the other Bellsprout. Most of them fly behind Slice, but a few scrape along Slice's back, tearing his ragged cape even further as well as the back of his tight shirt. The wounds burn and lightly bleed out.

Slice: Tired, Scraped, Safeguard

Meanwhile, as Staraptor pulls back upwards into the air, he feels more of his energy being drained. This time, it appears the Gloom is responsible.

Staraptor: 43%, Safeguard

The battle continues around the outpost. Roselia, still focusing on Metagross, focuses directly upon the steel pokemon. Metagross, like Staraptor, feel weaker as if being drained.

Metagross: 53%, Safeguard

The Chase

"Aerial Ace," Felix commanded Esteban.

Esteban dashed forward and leaped into the air, almost invisibly, towards Tropius. Using his psychic abilities, he easily locates Tropius and silently, slams down on Tropius with his arm, chopping at Tropius' back. Tropius grunts, pushed downwards slightly, but remains aloft.

Ephriam, the Alakazam, also move towards the Tropius, raising his right hand towards Tropius. Instantly, a beam of blue energy surges outward towards Tropius, hitting it directly. Tropius grunts again, but this time, his pupils fly into his eyelids. His wings stop and slowly, his large body crashes downwards into the forest floor, crushing bushes underneath. Its massive body knocks several trees to the ground, their shattering trunks cracking loudly in the dark forest. Several birds caw out in the distances and launch themselves away from the noise.

However, Ephriam had already moved on, launching a purple beam at Breloom. Trapped, Breloom is unable to dodge and it too takes the full brunt of the beam. It struggles against the psychic energy, but fails, passing out.

Unfortunately, this happens all too quickly and Ephriam is not able to concentrate to confuse the sleeping pokemon.

Nancy manages to find Caulder and wake him. He then disappears into a bright red light.

Crobat rushes over to the two sleeping pokemon and begins to drain energy out of them. They stir, but do not wake.

Those damn Bellsprout, they were quick. I missed both of them, and not to mention I had been scraped by a Razor Leaf. Blood leaked from my chest as I heaved. I pulled out two Potions, and drank one. It was bitter, but revitalized me. The other I sent towards Star, who caught it with his beak and gulped it down.

The Bellsprout sent another Razor Leaf at me for taking this opportunity, and I quickly dodged it. One managed to scrape my forearm, but there was no bloodshed. They were both bastards, I give them that. I held Arato in one hand and then pulled out my other katana and held that. My dual blade technique usually was done with two katana as they were lighter and faster to maneuver, but it really wouldn’t matter with my skilled hands.

I rushed at the armless Bellsprout, and quickly released my cloak. It fell onto the Bellsprout as I jumped into the air and over it, and pulled the cloak taut. The Bellsprout was pulled into it like a carrot in a shopping bag, and before it could even think about using a Razor Leaf to get out, I lifted my blade to my face and stabbed several times at the Bellsprout.

It twisted and turned, dodging my blade. I smiled, expecting this, and stabbed at it from another direction with my falchion and then used my wrist to play around with it. I cut through several vital organs, and had several pieces of Bellsprout stuck to my cloak. I dropped it, and then rushed at the other Bellsprout.

It swerved to the left, a blur of green, and jumped into the air. I followed, as it had only jumped slightly higher than my head, and slashed. I missed, but it fell back down . I took the recovery period to slash horizontally from both directions.

I then backed away, and stared at the Gloom. A battle with this would surely be fun.

“Star, attack maneuver,” I yelled, and Staraptor sent a Gust at the Gloom. It was blown into the air, and I ran at it, blades held high, and took a well aimed slash at it. I think I had won, but just to make sure, I dropped my katana, which fell into the dirt harmlessly, and threw my last dagger at the heap of a Gloom.

I then pulled my dirt covered blade from the ground and called Staraptor to me. I mounted him, and flew into the air, observing the bloodshed and smiling, wondering who was dead and who was living.

THey don't sell Potions anymore? OR do they? I assumed that every trainer would have a few Potions on them due to the fact that they're items in any trainer's arsenal. Even though my character is technically insane, he's still a trainer.

IF I'm not allowed to make assumptions, I'll buy them or you can ignore them >.>

"Blast, this isn't working. I need to take out these stupid Grass Pokemon." However, Clay knew that there was very little else that he could do. Magnezone couldn't attack because then it would bring attention to Togepi, and if Togepi was hurt, they would really be in trouble. Empoleon mainly had attacks that would affect multiple targets, which would most likely miss their opponents and hit themselves. Metagross's only chance of doing damage was to continue with Aerial Aces, and lastly Clay couldn't send out any more of his Pokemon, because they probably wouldn't be protected by the Safeguard.

Sighing, Clay called out the only commands that made sense. "Magnezone, just stay there. Metagross, use another Aerial Ace on that Roselia. Empoleon, stay there, but if you get a chance to use a Swagger attack on one of the..." Suddenly, a idea came to Clay, and hopefully it would work. "Empoleon, instead use your Swagger on Metagross." The Water Pokemon looked at Clay confused, but Clay just nodded.

Empoleon took a second to concentrate, and suddenly there was a red aura surround the Pokemon. With a small motion from the Water type, the red aura shot forward, toward Metagross. Metagross, who was swing its arm at the Roselia again, was hit by the aura just as it was getting close to the Grass type. With luck the additional power caused by Swagger would add to the damage done to the Grass type, even though Metagross wouldn't get confused by the attack due to Safeguard.

OOC: Sorry for the long wait my friends! Now, let's get back to the show!

IC:

Outpost 1

Slice rushed at the wounded Bellsprout with no arms, quickly evading its attacks. Dropping his cloak upon the grass Pokemon, Slice quickly bagged the Pokemon as if it were caught in some sort of trap. Without mercy, Slice quickly and thoroughly chopped the Bellsprout into several pieces. It could not escape and within seconds was nothing more than a pile of leaves, vines, and buds upon the floor.

The other grass Pokemon looked at the massacre and another scream emitted from their mouths. This time, however, the screams seemed to be... unnatural and everyone, including those in the forest, can feel the screams within their own minds.

Slice ordered Staraptor to attack Gloom and it launched a powerful gust at the Pokemon. Gloom, however, had already begun to retreat. The gust blew it further forward into the dense foliage of the forest. Although throwing his dagger at Gloom, Slice could not make out if it hit. As he moved closer, he discovers to his disappointment that the dagger did not hit. Gloom was no where in sight as he mounted Staraptor.

Everywhere, including in the forest, grass Pokemon began withdrawing from their battles. The two sleeping grass Pokemon had awaken to the scream and had also begun dispersing, all of them charging away from the trainers and their Pokemon.

Save one. Empoleon's Swagger did indeed boost Metagross's attack without confusing it due to Safeguard. As the red aura surrounded Metagross, the pokemon felt a brief moment of confusion along with a surge of power. The confusion disappeared quickly and it followed through with its attack, smashing its arm against Roselia. The grass pokemon was thrown against the wall of the building, and then dropped to the ground, passed out.

OOC: At this point, should no one continue to pursue the grass pokemon, the battles are over. You are free to roleplay with each other and take any necessary actions. It should be noted that if you pursue the grass pokemon that the forest is quite dark and visibility is low.

OOC: So I'm going to go ahead and summarize what happens since the other group is more or less unresponsive.

Essentially, the group in the forest does manage to fight off the grass pokemon, but they all manage to escape. Any psychic pokemon or pokemon with psychic abilities (such as Butterfree) notices that a strange aura awakens the sleeping grass pokemon. Normally such auras are indicative of psychic pokemon or psychic attacks. However the grass pokemon quickly retreat into the dense foliage. No one else follows.

The forest group returns to the outpost where the battle has also finished up. All the grass pokemon at the outpost have left or retreated save for one: a Roselia.

You all notice the ranger with the ten-gallon-hat directing the able-bodied rangers to quickly scout the area for any further attacks, to assist the wounded into the infirmary, and to take stock of the damage. He seems to be in charge of the outpost.
