[HG/SS - #9] Upheaval of the Enemy

To follow #1-8 of the HG/SS Polls, here's #9. We get to focus on our rivals, finally! Speaking of which... wow. Four Generations and four tough enemies that even the experts can have a hard time keeping up with. It appears one is deciding to rear his head back into our lives. Of course there were times we had fun with these guys and some where they were just a nuisance to our progress. Which did you enjoy the most? Why? Was it because of the difficult or the easy times? Did you like any of them at all? If not, why?

I thought Silver was that best ENEMY in the games. He was mean and commited a crime, the more "evil" of the rivals. Altough, he kinda goes stright in the end...

Wally and Berry seem more friendly and more like friend-foes ten actual enemies.

Gary was more of an antagonist, rival, but not really the awful, enemy type.

And don't you mean blue?
Hypothetically, he was only given the name Blue due to the fact that Blue and Red were paired together in the United States. Meanwhile, he had the name of Green in Japan due to the Red/Green pairing. It just stuck to me, I suppose.

Silver. He was the ultimate enemy... In cool looks. His appearance pwns Gold by far ;D And uhhh... Yeah, he was tough.

For me, its Blue/Green. The only champion who is also a rival.

Totally. And it wasn't only in the manga that Silver was Giovanni's son. It was confirmed in FRLG Five Island's Rocket Base that Giovanni had a son with red hair. Not a definate clue, but a clue nonetheless.

And if I recall correctly, he had a Sneasel. If he ended up with Weavile in the game, that'd be so cool :0

Wally sucks because you only REALLY fight him once [battles against a single ralts don't count lolwut] and he's such a shy sissy.

Unlisted May and Brandon stop fighting after like level 32 so they suck too.

Barry was just...lol.

Gary was actually strong and actually became the champion [and later a gym leader]. To this day he is the only rival I've lost against.

Silver wasn't one of the overused 'omg gaise im ur rival im a hapy guy thta helps u an craks jokez al teh tiem!!1' and on the contrary, just badmouthed everyone and stole and things like that. I believe you fight him the most out of all the rivals but I'm not sure.



I was stuck between Gary and Silver and decided to vote Silver.

I haven't really played G/S so I don't know what Silver is like, Green was pretty cool, I like Wally because he's in Hoenn (my favorite region), and Barry sometimes gets annoying, but he's cool.

Green because he gave you somewhat of a challenge. His team was really well constructed and always a good level for the area, so yeah.

I liked Silver because he was a naughty boy :mad:

I never considered Wally as the rival in R/S/E. You fought either May or Brendon multiple times depending on which character you chose at the start. They were kind of your rivals. :P

Silver's the best, because he's a street gangster and he robbed Prof. Elm. :o

Unlisted May and Brandon stop fighting after like level 32 so they suck too.

They're considered pseudo-rivals. You fight Wally at the end of Victory Road meaning he's the last rival you fight in the games. In the end, Wally is your real rival despite the fact you fight him two times. I do agree, he is a sissy-kid.

Gary (Green) is the best out of all of them. He's the only one who becomes a champion and then into a Gym Leader later on in other games.
