I'm thinking about using it because Vista fails, but I'm afraid that the software for my tablet PC will fail in Linux.

MEANING I CAN'T READ MANGA IN BED ;_;

Opinions, people?

No. It's a big risk and its possible you lose everything in the process.

Do it.

Just downgrade to XP.

He's not going to pay extra moolah just to downgrade just for that.

Get Linux.

Yeah, Linux is okay and free. I suggest Ubuntu 8.10 and the newest version.

I guess he can enjoy being incompatible with over 70% of programs, then.

I use XP and I don't think it's that bad. *shrugs*

You're not making any sense here.

That's because it's not.

If there was some way to yoink out XP from my fail desktop and install it on my laptop, believe me, I would.

*Rereads posts* Oh, I got confused xD It's not that hard to do.

I think the first line was sarcasm.

Well If your using Vista home basic, then pretty much everything's better. (I've heard that Vista Premium is good, though) But my sister is using Linux and she likes it, so go ahead if you want.

Sarcasm is mockery with irony. That first line mocks without, so it's not sarcasm.

Anyway. I saw his tablet before, and it seems like it's Vista Premium.

Ok, incompatible with 70% of all programs? Linux IS open source you know. And you can modify things. Even though it takes FOR-EV-ER. :(

Depends. If you want to give it a trial run you can try obtaining a Live CD of it.

If you're worried about incompatibilities, and you have a lot of harddisk space, partition about 10/15 gigs for Linux (and even that's overkill, imo) install it to that. Then you can dual boot Linux and Windows.

Starkipraggy, it depends on what you want to do. If you are a programmer who wants to tinker and experiment, get Linux.

If you want something that you are used to, just get Windows. (OR MAC 'CAUSE THEY OWN.)

I currently use Linux and have tried MANY Linux distros. Fun stuff because I like to learn about 'em.
