I have confirmed that shifts are possible, but they are problematic. You see, if we work in shifts, the host IP address will change each time. Meaning, that each person will be running a different server. Meaning, that once someone's shift ends, everyone on the server would be booted out. Plus, they would have to remember several IP addresses, and what time to use what IP adress.

In conclusion, people working in shifts would just be a major inconvenience for everyone. I'm sorry, but it has to just be ONE host.

Dam thats a dissapointment but oh well. It'sironic how most people won't the server but they won't host. I would but having a lab top and a computer that dose not accept the download is the nail in that coffin.

At PokeBeach we tried the same thing. Kevin got the server up, made a rating system, created a leader-board, and had the server up and running 24/7. The problem is that people get bored of it after awhile. In the beginning we normally had 20+ people on, but afterward, we rarely had anyone on.

Lastly, it took Kevin four+ months to get everything operational. And let me just say, Kevin has a lot of contacts over at Smogon. If you guys can even get the server and leader-board up, I will be amazed.

We had a lot of people say they would be on the server too, but when it came down to it, we asked ourselves, "How is this any different than Smogon's?" The only difference was the quantity of people on the server.

The only viable reason to have a separate server would be for a CAP project.

True, but for some reason, people are more likely to join forums with Shoddy servers.

Also, if PE2K get on the metalist, people will see the server, and perhaps want to check out the forums too. Whether you realize it or not, it's a good form of advertising. In the long run, it will expand PE2K's battling community, which is, as much as I hate to admit it, pretty small and below par at the moment.

I'll go ahead and volunteer my time. I have a spare computer doing nothing anyway.

Thank you for moving this thread. You have effectively ruined any chance this had at success.

Nobody comes to this board. You guys tried to move all Shoddy related stuff last time, and everyone complained because of the previously mentioned problem.

I had moved it because this place was more fitting, I even posted up an announcement regarding the move with a link to this section.

My reasons for doing so are to bring activity to this section and allow for Shoddy / NB to have their own area. Since Wifi doesn't exactly translate to Shoddy and vise versa.

About a year back, the mods were moving all the Shoddy stuff over here.

That makes perfect sense, move something that is already so frail in activity, and give it a death note in a place that is even more inactive. Nice.

I'm not telling you to make me personally a mod. I don't really care if I get made a mod or not (I probably wouldn't even make a good mod), I'd just like for there to be more mods (how many do we have right now anyway? I've seen 4.) to be able to keep the chat spammer-free. I know we're a small server and don't need a lot of mods on at all times like Smogon does or anything, it'd just be nice if we had a few more. That's just my two cents. Then again, I'm not someone who helped create the server or anything, so what do I know.

If any non-mods find someone spamming, make a post in this thread with the persons username, and what he/she has done. Mod's can ban members who aren't online ;)

Certainly, also, I think that we should put more emphasis on casual, Pokemon for fun, not for competition. We'll never have anything on smogon competitively, but if we stress that it is mainly for the fun of it, people might find it more appealing.

That would be awesome. I love NFE battling. We had a thing going a while back for tiering NFEs (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97507), but it died. I'll take it over though if TPH doesn't have the time/want to, assuming the idea goes through. It would be cool to be the only server with an NFE ladder (I think we would be).
