The Hoenn Journey to Victory!
The Storyline!
It's six months till Hoenn Pokemon League and all trainers from around the regions who have collected all eight of their Gym Badges. Its time to put their skills to the test as they put all their efforts to winning the league. As these trainers give it their all to achieve their dreams as Pokemon Master. Meanwhile the Pokemon Coordinators have collected all of Ribbons and are also gearing up for the Grand Festival where they'll too compete to winning it all, Come on and join in to begin your journey through The Hoenn Region!
The Rules
- Guidelines to PE2K are included in this so please follow them and if you haven't read them yet then I suggest you do.
- No God-Modding please because it spoils the fun of the reactions of another person's character and it's annoying too.
- You are entitled to a maximum of four Pokemon with you since we are going to enter the Hoenn League. Please be a bit realistic about your choices and be unique. If you notice somebody has the Pokemon that you wanted then please try and choose another.
- This RPG is set many months after your newish ways as a trainer XD. Its up to you how long you've been a trainer but you must have some good ability as a trainer/coordinator because you have already acquired all of your badges/ribbons.
- Its good to be a bit descriptive in your RPing and I'd like for you guys to make an effort instead of doing one liners because its hard to respond to someone with one liners.
- No super charged overly Powerful Pokemon! No Legendary Pokemon and Certainly No swearing please! <3
- Evolving and Catching Pokemon is fine but lets be realistic about it and give us an impressive show!

After recently winning his eighth and final badge from Winona from Fortree City, Khalid was now eligible to enter in the Hoenn League. Throughout his journey he was accompanied with his good friend Daniella who was also working on getting her seventh and eighth badge in Rustboro City and Dewford Town from their Gyms. Khalid had hoped she'd get it so that she too could enter the Pokemon League and he'd see a familiar face in the masses of Trainers entering. Khalid was resting just off the side of Route 123 with his Pokemon. He had been traveling early to get to Ever Grande City to begin training there. He heard from Hoenn Tv that Slateport City were undergoing major renovations due to a Pokemon Accident and that this year the Hoenn Grand Festival will also being taking place in Ever Grande City. Think about how packed that place will be now. Crammed with many Trainers and Coordinators just hoping to win. With the slight change in this competitions, who knows what they'll have in store for us.
Khalid and his Pokemon were relaxing on the grassland near a small lake eating food that Khalid made earlier. Khalid watched his Pokemon play amongst each other and gave a small smile to himself. The journey was very tiring and he needed this pit stop before continuing his journey to Ever Grande City. He looked at his Umbreon who was his first pokemon. He was the self proclaimed leader of the four Pokemon. Khalid remembered when he found Umbreon then Eevee when he was just 8. He was alone and abandoned by his old trainer. Khalid despised and promised to keep him until he was read to leave but although the choice was up to the Pokemon, he didn't want to leave and felt comfortable with Khalid. He decided that he wanted Eevee to be his starter Pokemon and not any of the Kanto who were amazing but he preferred Eevee. He gave a small yawn and stretched his arm muscles as they were a bit worn out. Out of nowhere his Quilava jumped on him playfully muttering in his own language.
"Quilava, quil Quilava!" Chiped the fire type Pokemon cheerfully.
Khalid smiled at the happiness of his Pokemon and was proud of that fact. "So your ready to start training once we get to Ever Grande City, huh?" Now all his Pokemon assembled in a group looked at each other and then at Umbreon as to confirm their decision, they looked back at Khalid and nodded all together. "That's awesome, I can't wait to compete and win!" Once Khalid said that the Pokemon began to excite themselves and celebrate their upcoming win. Khalid moved towards his backpack which was not far from him and began ruffling through it until he found the Pokemon food he had saved for them. He brought food dishes for them as carefully gave them portions that were edible for each of them. Once he placed them on the ground, the Pokemon attacked their food and began quickly eating as if it has been along since they ate. Khalid chuckled at the sight of them. He then went into his backpack once more and brought out a bottle of water and a PokePod that he could listen to music on. He placed the headphones and laid down on the grassy ground. He was now listening a Pokemon Podcast on how to raise your Pokemon well using Pokeblock and love. As he listened to it he dozed off into a little rest. It was some time until Bayleef woke him up from it. Khalid jumped up a little and saw Bayleef smiling down at him. Khalid grinned at the sight of him and patted him on the head.
"Ahahaha, good girl for waking me. We could've been here all night!"

Somewhere in the desrt near FallArbor Town
"Weavile, use steel claw" Weavile jumped up above the Sandshrew as his Left claw began to glow as it strengthened and enlargened into a formidable weapon. Weavile jumped on the ground-type's back and with a swift jab weakened the pokemon enough so that David could catch it.
"Good job Weavile let's get to a pokemon center." David congradulated returning the Dark and Ice type to his pokeball and heading to the pokemon center.

On the far side of the lake, there was a tall tree - casting a cool shadow over the bank of the water. As a calming breeze sifted it's way through the somewhat wooded area behind the tree, from behind it emerged a small baby Pokemon, exlaiming in excitement as suddenly a sleek, purple feline Pokemon sprang out, and followed it with a playful stalk in it's elegant steps.
"Toge...?" chirped the small Togepi, before happily reaching up towards the forked tail of the feline Pokemon - the red orb on it's forehead exhuding a peaceful glow towards Togepi.
"Es....peon...~" it quietly purred in response, swaying it's tail slowly from side to side as the baby Pokemon attempted to take hold of it.
Further along the shoreline, lay a young twenty-something man clad in a soaking pair of shorts - the water from his earlier swim in the lake casting a glistening to emanate from his body - his eyes closed in a relaxed state.
On the grass by his right hip lay three Pokeballs, before his Espeon, and Togepi both made their way over - Espeon curling up in the grass by his side as Togepi began to prod at who it believed to be it's parent before it was scooped up, and the man rose into a sitting position.
"Hmm...hey Togepi...Espeon..." he murmoured sleepily, holding the spiked ball Pokemon in his lap, and then seeking out with his left hand to pat Espeon affectionately on the head.
Two days ago, Kai Naoki had succeeded in procuring his last badge needed to enter the Hoenn league, and had since discovered that the first rounds would not start for several more months - he had taken the decision to have a few days to relax after his nonstop travels around the region.
Though the battle against Winona's Skarmory had been extremely close to call, his Espeon had defeated it with a last minute Swift attack to knock it from the sky - hence why Kai had decided to allow it some time to recouperate by the lakeside.
Togepi, not being a Pokemon used for battle had stayed at Kai's side during the tough battles after hatching from an egg just outside of Oldale Town. So naturally the trainer was at a disadvantage during battles where each trainer would use four Pokemon - despite having many at home in Sinnoh that he could call upon including a powerful Kingdra, Raichu and Ninetails just to name three - though it pained him to be separate from any of them.
Releasing a quiet yawn, he reclined on his back again, casting his gaze across the calm waters of the lake once again before slipping back into his nap.

Outside of Lilycove City City, two pokemon were duking it out ferociously. One was the blue frog pokemon Poliwrath, and the other was the furious monkey Primeape. From afar it would seem like a serious fight to the end.
A closer observation would prove that this was but a training brawl. And nearby, sitting comfortably against a strangely shaped rock, was their master. Or Pokemon Trainer, as most call them. Sitting at both sides of her were two pokemon. A sleeping Growlithe and a rather bored looking baby Cubone.
The Pokemon Trainer, named Alma Alamilla, clapped her hands after the two combating pokemon had tired themselves out. "Alright, alright. Good job, you guys. We're almost ready for the Hoenn League."
Recently, Alma had won her 8th Hoenn Badge at the Sootopolis City gym. And now she was able to enter in the Hoenn League. But, she couldn't just go instantly and expect to win. First, she had to train her pokemon to their top priority.
The Elite Four are no joke.

James stood on the beach staring out to the sea. He was accompanied by all of his Pokemon; Gallade, Mamoswine, Electivire and Magmortar.
"We got all our ribbons guys" James said to himself with a smile on his face. Gallade looked up to James, as James looked back Gallade quickly turned out to sea where a small dot was flying in the sky, growing slowly.
As the small dot flew closer, James could see it was a Dragonite. As it flew even closer, he noticed that his sister was on the back waving frantically.
"So you got all your Ribbons?" Louise asked jumping off the back of Dragonite.
"Yeah" James laughed "Wasn't easy but I got 'em"
"Not easy...I know that. Try telling Mark" She smiled as she looked at James Pokemon. "Oh my...." Louise paused as James looked at her "You was a small Magby last time I saw you" Louise tickled the Magmortars belly and it smiled.
"Done quite a bit since we last spoke 'ent I" James said leaning up a rock
"Yeah, but even more to be done. Ever Grande is a big place, lots of people, lots of competiton"
James smirked "We can take 'em"
"As much as I admire your enthusiasm. I'm not too sure you can. They are really strong, and you have to impress before you battle, alot of people, like me for example, have a lot of experience behind them."
"Well I can't be that bad if I got all my Ribbons" James looked up to the sky "And anyway, even if we lose, we tried, and as long as we try and have fun...Well I dont really care"
"Thats the way it should be" Louise said jumping on the back of Dragonite. "Mark said he was going to pop down, best be looking strong and manly" she laughed as her and Dragonite flew off into the distance.
Within seconds a Charizard landed next to James and Mark leaped off its back. Mark looked very similar to James, only his hair was longer and wore a black suit.
"So I heard you got all your Ribbons." Mark laughed "You going to collect badges... You need to hurry, only six months left."
James laughed after hearing his brother "One, no. Two, even if I wanted to I couldn't in six months, and three, just drop it already."
"But you would make such a better battler"
"I can battle now, well not right now, but I battle"
"Yeah wimpy co-ordinaters" Mark mocked
James laughed "Look at my Pokemon. Are we wimpy?"
Mark stopped for a moment as he looked at James' Pokemon. "Yeah a little" he laughed "No but seriously collect badges man they're so much better"
"Ill tell you what." James began. "Ill see how it goes in Ever Grande, then I'll think about it"
"Don't you mean Slateport"
"It's held at Ever Grande this year due to a battle last year, they're still repairing it all"
"Maybe your battles 'ent so bad then" Mark chuckled walking over to Charizard. "Ill see you in Ever Grande, and by the way. Something for you at Moms. Suggest you go get it"
Mark and Charizard flew off in the opposite way to Louise and Dragonite did.
"You know what guy's." James looked at his Pokemon. "They really like to rub it in that they have Pokemon that can fly"

-=Robert, Littleroot Town=-
It had been a very long time since he last came to Hoenn. The last time he could remember was back when he was just a 6 year old boy. His grandparents lived in Littleroot and every summer, his parents would bring him and his sister down to visit them. However, the following winter since that last visit, his grandparents came down with pneumonia, and due to their weaker immune systems, died shortly after. While the place was handed down to his parents and taken care of by a local, hired girl named Lilly, not much had been done with the place.
However, that would soon change. The house had a rather nice, large, enclosed field that measured a good ten acres, 2 acres of which Lilly had transformed into a berry garden through the years. In Robert's mind, the place would be perfect to use as a Pokemon ranch for those pokemon he couldn't keep on his person with the six pokemon limit.
Robert walked up to the cozy two story log cabin ranch and knocked on the door. Although his parents gave him the key to the place, Lilly was living there as a live-in maid and caretaker. Robert smiled lightly a bit.
Lilly was a girl he'd often play with whenever he and his parents visited Hoenn, as well as during her family's visits to the Sinnoh region. Her parents were friends of the family. Lilly was four years older than Robert. Only two years ago her parents went missing during a cruise voyage to the Orre region. Being alone all that time, Robert's parents decided to help her by letting her live at the ranch and work for them by up-keeping the place and the land itself.
The door opened and before Robert stood a teenage female about 5 ft. 7in tall with a lightly tanned skin tone. Her long brown hair cascaded down her back and over the white button-up shirt she wore. Her legs were hidden behind a pleated brown skirt the went all the way down to just above her feet, upon which sandals could be seen. The girl's emerald green eyes went wide as she wrapped her arms around Robert.
"Rob! It's so good to see you again!" she said as she hugged him. Robert smiled as he returned the hug, holding her for a few minutes before then releasing her. "Your parents told me you'd be coming. How is your sister? is she getting any better?" Lilly asked.
Robert smiled to her as she led him inside the house and into the living room. The place looked showroom clean. it was obvious the girl took very good care of it and took her job seriously. Robert sat down on the soft leather couch which faced the wall mounted flat screen TV and the fireplace that sat beneath it.
"Yeah. She still can't walk normally, but I left two of my pokemon behind to help in her recovery. I've decided to enter the Hoenn league and test my skill here. Also, I want to make use of the land here. As I travel around, I doubt I'm going to want to limit myself to six pokemon, so I want to use the place as a pokemon ranch. It would be better than having them transferred to a storage facility and stuck in a pokeball all of the time until called for." Robert explained as he looked over to Lilly.
Lilly smiled gently. "Well I can look after any pokemon you send here. but, could you teach me how to make pokemon food? Like the quality breeders use?" Lilly asked. Robert's parents were top-notch breeders and coordinators, and both taught him the finer aspects of quality pokemon raising, including nutritional care.
"Of course Lilly. I won't be heading out to explore for a day or two, so I'd like to set the both of us up for success." Robert spoke with a pleasant tone of voice.

Rte. 119
A large boulder whirled by my head, smashing into the cliffside behind me, and a fiery stream followed it, quickly metling the rock, and when the stream ended, a large glass swirl was on the rocky terrain, still glowing after the quick heating. I smiled. "Nice job guys! Urthwhite, if you throw those rocks any harder, they'll shatter before A'tuin gets a chance to melt them!" The large steel monster tossed his armor back and began laughing. I smirked, and ran over, giving the beast a playful shove. He didn't budge, and it didn't surprise me. I was dwarfed by the almost 7 foot tall Aggron. It just kept laughing, calmed down, and started throwing more boulders at the cliff face.
Next I turned to my Torkoal, A'tuin, and noticed that her shell needed a little work. I called her over, and she came over, slow as ever, but trying to make haste to my position. I pulled out a polishing cloth, and began working on her rocky shell, making sure not to take off any of the fragile pieces off. I had to admit, it was an odd choice to make one of the most unusual of Hoenn's pokemon my Beauty contender. But the Fire-type attacks it pulled off were incredible to watch, and effective for contest battles.
I looked around the beauty of Rte. 119. It was going to be hard to leave in a little while so that I could go to the Grand Tournament. Ever Grande was pretty far away, and I didn't have any flying pokemon, despite my Fortree birth. The only way to go was down to Lillycove and then take a ferry across. I sighed, and returned A'tuin. I got on my Acro bike, which I had left against a tree. I called out, "Hey Urthwite, ready for some running?" The powerful Aggron replied happily, "Aggroooooon!" I smiled and said, "Hope you can keep up!" I started pedaling back toward Fortree, and soon heard the heavy pounding of steel claws against the soft forest floor. Seconds later, Urthwite was beside me, matching the bike's speed perfectly. I smiled.
Get ready Ever Grande, here we come!

Elyon Orimoto was a young pokemon trainer from Lavaridge Town. She had just returned home the day before after earning her eighth and final gym badge and was now preparing for the Hoenn League that would be held in just six short months. Taking up nearly every day for training, she knew better than to slack off until the last minute.
"Skittles use your Ice Beam on Breeze! Yuri use Volt Tackle on Maori!" Elyon shouted.
Her pokemon team was pretty basic. Skittles was her Delcatty. They had meet outside Rustboro City when she was still just starting out on her pokemon journey. Skittles was a Skitty who had been attacked by a group of Geodude who live in the Rusturf Tunnel. Her Pikachu hand been one of her partners since the very beginning. She was just a Pichu when the two left home along with Maori who was still a Vulpix at that time. Breeze was a Flygon who had done everything possible to protect a group of Trapinch living in the desert not far from Mauville City. However, one day a Salamence attacked, wiping out the whole group. When Elyon found Breeze she was beaten and bruised a not very trusting of humans, but they worked around that and now were like best friends.
"Fly!" Breeze cried, as she narrowly dodged the chilling Ice Beam attack.
"Pika!" Yuri collided with Maori, electricity crackling around her body.
"Good job you guys!" Elyon cheered, smiling at her worn out team, "Let's take a break for lunch."
Her announcement was met with cheerful cries as the Pokemon gathered around their trainer. Grinning even wider than before, Elyon reached into her back pack and pulled out their food bowls. Setting each one on the ground she poured some Pokemon food into each one before pulling out some sandwiches she had made herself before leaving the house that morning.
"Well now," a taunting voice interrupted, "All work and no play makes Elyon a dull girl."
"Shut up, Flannery." Elyon replied, grinning at her red headed friend.
Elyon had known Flannery the gym leader since she moved in with her Aunt and Uncle and the two had been like sisters ever since. Sometimes, Flannery would even battle with Elyon to help train her Pokemon.
"Chill out Ely," Flannery laughed, waving a hand in surrender, "I was only playing with you. I don't see why you have to train every second of the day. Its not like your team isn't already strong. I have never seen Yuri's Volt Tackle looking so strong."
"Pika!" Yuri cried, leaping onto Flannery's shoulder and rubbing her face against her cheek affectionately.
"I know that. But there is no telling what we'll encounter at the league. Its better to be prepared than to lose my first match cause we didn't train enough." Elyon replied, giggling as Maori nudged her hand to be petted.
"Just take the rest of the day off and come shopping with me in Lilycove. Grandpa agreed to watch the gym for the rest of the day and plus, we'll get there faster if we ride Breeze." Flannery begged, looking at her friend with a pleading gaze.
"But..." Elyon glanced at her Pokemon who seemed to nodd in agreement with Flannery, "Oh, alright. But just this once."
"You are the best!" Flannery exclaimed, hugging her friend. "Let's go!"
If I give into her ever time she asks to go shopping, I'll never be ready for the league. Elyon thought dryly as she returned her other Pokemon and the two climbed onto Breeze. Then again, it won't hurt to take a break every once in awhile.

Mossdeep City
Mid day
James walked back into Mossdeep City to see when the next Ferry would be leaving. He walked into the boat yard and gazed at the chalk board at the far end of the room.
'To Lilycove $10' James thought to himself 'To Slateport N/A' James continued to read 'To Petalburg $140.' James reached into his pocket to see how much money he had left. $200 wasn't bad, especially after the big breakfast he had earlier that day.
James paid at the cashier till and left the boat yard. 'I really need to get a flying Pokemon instead of relying on these ferries.' He thought to himself as he walked back onto the beach. With a red flash and some stars, James' Medicham appeared.
"Medicham, High Jump Kick that tree" James commanded as Medicham leapd high into the sky. After becoming level with the higher part of the palm tree, Medicham span around and kicked the tree. Much to James' delight the top of the palm tree was sent flying into the sea and Medicham landed on the floor gracefully. With a smile upon James' face, he gazed around and seen a boulder which must have been twice the size of him. "Medicham, Force Palm the boulder" James said as Medicham ran past James like a blur with its Palm out and collided the with boulder. Alot of smoke surrounded Medicham and James wasn't too sure what had happened until the smoke cleared and Medicham was seen sitting down infront of the broken boulder. A perfect split down the middle, from top to bottom.
"Nice Medicham." A girl said walking over to James
"Thanks" James replied
"Jess" She said as she moved her long blonde curls out of the way of her face. Her blue eyes were the same colour of the sea and her white dress really made her face flourish. "You competeing in the Pokemon League?"
"Contest" James corrected Jess
"Sorry, it's just your Medicham looks strong, I was nearly struck by a palm tree so I thought I would investigate"
James smiled "Oh, sorry about that, were getting in some training before the contest"
"No worries, you think your Medicham would beat my Sudowoodo?" Jess asked smiling
"Shall we find out?"
"Sure" Jess said reaching into her pink bag. Her face dropped "Oh my! I picked up the wrong bag. My Pokemon. What do I do?"
"Don't worry. I'll help you out" James said as Medicham now stood next to him.

Rte. 121
I was racing along the coastline, Mt. Pyre towering in the distance. Urthwite was still next to me, even though we had been going for amost two hours without breaks. I needed him to be physically 'the best' since he was my Tough pokemon for contests. After all, there wasn't much tuogher out here in Hoenn than an Aggron. I turned my head to keep my eyes on the road, and then realized the Safari Zone was coming up. I coud already hear the sounds of the lush paradise that was home to so many rarer pokemon that couldn't be found anywhere else in the Hoenn region, some even coming from the other regions of Kanto, Johto, and a few from the Sinnoh region.
I braked and jumped off the bike, and Urthwite marched over, seemingly barely phased by the exhausting run that he had. I patted his shoulder. I was too tired to speak, so I sat down on the cool grass. I'm almost in Lilycove, and then we can catch the ferry tomorrow into Ever Grande. Then it really begins. I looked up and saw another person stopping off the path, on foot. He was a tall gangly teen, and he was walking with three pokeballs at his belt. In one movement, I found myself in a battle, though I hadn't said a word. A powerful looking Venusaur was charging towards Urthwite, who wasn't paying attention. I yelled, "Hey! I didn't answer your challenge!" I saw the trainer grin, and then just keep giving hand signals to his Venusaur, which promptly stopped the rampage and came plodding back to his trainer.
A piece of paper was shoved into my hand by the boy. In very bad handwriting, it read, I challenge you. PS- Call me Derek. I sighed. "Fine. Come on Urthwite, now we're really in for a battle." The massive armored pokemon walked over, and stood up on two legs, towering like a rampart over the battle. I gave the first command. "Urthwite, try and get him with a Fire Punch!"
As his fist became engulfed in flames, I smiled.
Its on.

Later that same day, Kai had begun his entrance into Evergrande City. Despite the league being many months away, he had came to the decision that he would begin his preparations as the city itself prepared for the hordes of trainers, and thousands of avid Pokemon fans that would soon begin swamping the city.
Accomadation would be no issue as the young trainer had been delivered a message from one of his relatives that he would be able to reside in her vacation ranch only a few miles from the stadium, and that she would also aid him in his training for the next few months.
As his Rapidash trotted alongside him, with Togepi sat comfortably on it's back, Kai began the trek along the short dirt road that separated the city from the ranch - able to spot it as soon as he exited the city limits. The large, vast fields, and lake visible along with the generously sized residence that sat in the middle of the property.
"You guys will love Gra'ma, she's a real joy to be around, and she was also a very talented Pokemon trainer back in her day..." recounted Kai, smiling sidelong at Togepi, who seemed to be enjoying it's transportation as Rapidash simply whinnied in response, turning it's head to nuzzle Kai affectionately while Togepi chirped quietly.
"But don't let her know I said 'back in her day' - she still thinks herself, and acts as spry and mischievous as a teenager..." chuckled the young trainer, crossing his arms across his chest as the sun beamed down upon the three of them "Always playin' pranks, always my favorite relative" he smiled fondly, gazing along the road where a simple wooden gate blocked their path with a sign reading "No Solicitors and/or Salespeople" that caused him to chuckle aloud as he unhooked the gate, and allowed Rapidash entry before locking it securely behind them.
"I can assure you she'll nitpick at anything she may think is wrong with your battling styles, or appearance, or anything at all...but just nod your head and go along with it - she only means to help, 'kay?" he frowned faintly, though offered Rapidash a pat to it's strong body just beside where Togepi stood.
"And I told her all about you, she said her Pokemon have been wanting a playmate for a long time..."
"Toge...Toge!" responded the baby Pokemon, almost leaping for joy before it sat back atop Rapidash's back.
"And she said she's requested that Professor Rowan send all my Pokemon from home to see me, and help me prepare - it's going to be great to see them all again."
Approaching the properties' residence, he took Togepi off of Rapidash's back, and recalled the fire-horse Pokemon to it's Pokeball before knocking on the door. At first, there was no noise inside until Kai was able to discern slow footsteps accompanied by a cane moving around inside before the wooden door creaked open slowly, and Kai flicked his gaze down to meet a somewhat hunched, elderly woman with graying blonde hair - wearing a rather old fashioned purple dress.
"Hello Gran'm- Ouch!"
He was cut off by a swift crack of her walking cane to his ankles, and met with a somewhat indignant smirk from the woman.
"What have I told ya' about callin' me Gran'ma ya yutz, why I oughta hit yer other ankle!" she cackled, before throwing open her arms in a gesture of embrace. "Now c'mere an' give me a hug!"
Kai rolled his eyes goodnaturedly, and leant down with Togepi in one arm to band an arm around the woman's waist, also pressing a polite kiss to her cheek before she stepped back to allow him access to the house.
"Why didn't ya call when ya got into town? Had no idea 'wut time you was gonna show up, left me no time to make you a big celebratory dinner!" she fussed, hobbling before Kai towards the living room which had several floor to ceiling plate glass windows that looked out over the property - several Pokemon chasing around outside, many of them wild and native to the Hoenn region.
"Come on Gr-...Agatha, you and I both know you don't cook for anyone, how about I order us Pizza, on me, naturally..." smirked Kai, setting his backpack down on the sofa, along with Togepi who curled up against a cushion with a yawn.
Agatha smirked again, and shook her head "No sonny, You order, I'll pay. she admonished, slowly settling herself back in an armchair - holding her cane across her lap. Suddenly, a purple mist began to swirl in the middle of the coffee table between the couch and the TV set before it materialised into a very familiar figure.
"Gengar!" barked Agatha, before the Pokemon levitated across the small distance to settle in her lap before she lay a hand atop it's head affectionately. "Go an' make Kai's bed, and no whoopee cushions this time..." she warned sternly, though her eyes danced with humour as the Pokemon disappeared into thin air with a broad grin.
"Gengar looks very well..." observed Kai, taking a seat on the sofa beside the now-sleeping Togepi.
"Of course he's lookin' well, I take good care o' my Pokemon. Hopefully you do the same as opposed to that moronic brother o' yers, which reminds me, he ain't comin' to the tournament is he?"
Kai sniggered, shaking his head slowly. "Nah, he's staying with mom and dad in Sinnoh to watch it on the TV"
"Good." responded Agatha promptly, shaking her head in disdain. "I love yer mother, but she made a big mistake marryin' that yutz. I mean, she got a good kid outta you, but David is hardly a model trainer".
Kai simply shrugged in response, averting his gaze to the rolling landscape outside of the windows towards where a flock of Swellow were hopping around the grass.
"I wanted mom to come...but she said she'd be too distraught if I lost..."
At that point, Agatha cut him off - rising to her feet without the use of her cane. "Child, I'm going to make it my duty that you win that league. You' got a good head on yer shoulders, I' got the utmost faith in yer abilities."
Kai offered a nod to her, with a brief twitch of his lips before nodding - the light reflecting from his lip and left eyebrow piercings with the subtle movement as he glanced towards his three Pokeballs.
"Then...let's get training."

David looked at the letter in his hand Hey lil cuz, I promised we would see each other at the pokemon league and believe me, I will meet you in the finals. But first, both of us need to train so meet me at the entrance to the pokemon league and we'll have a practice battle. Love, Nicole David stood there near the gates and waited, three hours went by and David decided to train the newest edition to his team.
"Go Sandshrew!" David exclaimed as the Armadillo-like pokemon appeared in front of him. "Saand?" Sandshrew asked.
"Yes, we are going to train you to evolve." automatically he looked around and saw a strong looking trainer with a Sunflora "Hey, you over there. I challenge you too a battle." the trainer turned. "Excellent" he said. "I could use some training on an amatuer."

That afternoon had quickly passed, Agatha had sat Kai down and along with her Gengar as a visual aid, and discussed several different battle strategies for effective use of battle terrain, among other things before they reached a mutual decision to cook dinner.
"So m'boy, I have to know where you aquired this little sweetie..." cooed Agatha, feeding Kai's young Togepi a piece of candy from a dish in the centre of the coffee table before turning her attention back to the steaming bowl of noodles. "It's got to be the most adorable Pokemon I think I've ever seen!"
Kai released a quiet chuckle as Togepi padded it's way across the table with it's high pitched chirping sound before sitting down on the edge beside Kai's bowl.
"I was given the egg by the Nurse Joy of Saffron City, she told me it had been left alone in the recovery room one night, and asked if I could take it with me...well, Togepi hatched from it as I was arriving in Oldale Town about a week before I started challenging for gym badges"
Offering a faint smile towards the baby Pokemon, and then towards her favorite grandson - Agatha emptied her bowl, and placed it on a tray as Kai did the same. Gengar suddenly materialised before them, and lifted the tray to levitate towards the kitchen.
"So anyway, I'm looking forward to training with you. I'm sure it's going to give me a real advantage over the other entrants - although that being said, we have about five and a half months"
"Not to worry my boy, we're going to begin first thing in the morning after you've had a good night's rest in a real bed. Take a dip in the hot spring out back to enhance yer complexion - just cause yer a trainer, and a boy doesn't mean ya can't look good while you win!"
Snorting with amusement, Kai reached towards his backpack, and withdrew his three Pokeballs from them before standing, and heading towards the back door onto the decking outside where at the foot of a mountain was a steaming pool of water with a few lights hung from posts around it.
"Espeon, Rapidash, and Dragonair, come on out and have a rest..." he spoke quietly, setting their Pokeballs on the handrail of the decking, and releasing the three.
Rapidash simply lowered itself onto it's stomach beside the boiling spring - quite content to breathe in the heat while Espeon sat in a shallow area, occasionally flicking the water up onto it's head with it's forked tail while Dragonair dove in, before emerging with it's head, and following Kai's movements.
Smiling, Kai removed his clothing down to his shorts, and joined the Pokemon with a satisfied sigh at the pleasant temperature of the spring.
"Be ready you guys...Grandma's training can be pretty tough...." he warned, tilting his head back to steal a glance at the starry sky beaming down atop the ranch.
