Cayci was sore and knew that she couldn’t take much more of a beating. The best way to avoid getting hurt by her opponent was to make herself a guardian so that’s what she did. She piled together some snow and moulded it into her own shape – legs, then body and finally the head. Next came the bit that she had been dreading. In order to bring her guardian to life she would have to sacrifice her own health; she dug her fangs into the cold snow and allowed her life-force to flow from her into the doll. A numbing feeling began to grip her and raced through her head but she had to keep draining herself until her protector was ready. When it was, she pulled back immediately and felt a little easier, but not completely.
Meanwhile, Snow Flake watched the spider and decided that it would be best to use this action to relax. She sat down heavily and took several deep breaths; she reminded herself that everything was going well and that in a little while she’d have won the battle – nothing Cayci did could stop her. What she didn’t realise was that her guardian her opponent was making could block the Leech Seed drain that had plagued her before and that it was entirely possible that the Jolitk could make a comeback.
Saraibre Ryu had ordered Joltik to use Bug Buzz in order to protect herself from the Abomasnow’s Rock Slide but Cayci was left to figure out how she was supposed to do it. She looked around to see what resources she had at her disposal; all she could see was the snow. But maybe that was it – a plan began to form in her mind. In the meantime, Snow Flake was going underneath the snow for her attack; she dug through it to the rocks which could be found beneath. Slowly but steadily she managed to pull some out, he was ready to attack. Her body began to glow blue and so did the rocks – then, at her gesture, they rose into the air above where Cayci and her substitute were. That was when Cayci chose to strike. She began to buzz, partly with her vocal chords and partly by rubbing her front legs together. The vibrations caused a cloud of snow to fly around the two spiders, obscuring them from view. Snow Flake shrugged, it didn’t matter really, and split the stones in midair; then he dropped them so that they covered the whole area of the snow cloud – there was no chance they could escape. The snow cleared to reveal that Cayci and her protector were a few feet away from the pile of rocks. The snow had only been a cover to distract their enemy so that they could escape – Snow Flake could have kicked herself for falling for it.
