Default Re: Open Battle: sammy0295 vs paperfairy

A weary adventurer stumbled through the driving rain and heavy undergrowth. He hacked at a particularly stubborn bush with a large knife until it finally fell out of his path; he stopped momentarily to make an attempt at drying his forehead, it didn’t work too well. Another, smaller, bush fell beneath his deadly blade as he made his way through the dangerous forest. Bug and grass types scattered as he approached, they knew better than to try and pick a fight with a trainer. Then, just when he was beginning to give up hope, he found what he was looking for. A small stone building jutted out of the gigantic mountain which towered above even the tallest trees – this was the place he had spent so long searching for; months spent staring at maps to find the right place followed by a long, arduous adventure through treacherous rainforest, now it was all going to pay off. He was there.

sammy hurried inside the small building; time had worn away the door so it was easy to get in. Upon entering, he found another man, who was dressed in long robes and was shadowed by a large, shiny Dusknoir. “You may not enter,” he said calmly, not appearing to be threatened by sammy’s knife. The explorer looked from the ruin’s guardian, Paperfairy, to his ghostly pokémon, to the door behind them, and then back again.
“I will pass through if it is the last thing I do,” he commented as his hand reached for the poké balls in his belt. Choosing one, he threw it into the air between himself and the strange mystic – taking the opportunity to step back as he did so. Likewise, Paperfairy stepped backwards and ordered his spectral warrior to take down the foe. The newly emerged Torkoal and the protective Dusknoir faced each other and prepared for battle.

Round One

sammy0295

[Cherial] Torkoal (F)

Moves: Yawn ~ Sunny Day

The Dusknoir was quicker than this newcomer and so he had the advantage of moving first. He channelled his dark and deathly energies into a ball of black energy, which he spun in his hands. If you looked closely, you could have seen a single black thread connecting the gripper pokémon to the dark matter. Then his hands grasped the swirling darkness and began to mould it into a form which looked similar to himself – the shadows of death flowed into place as he carefully made them into his own image and then left them to float while he prepared the next stage of the creation. The black thread began to pulse slightly as the cyclops allowed his own life to flow into the doll – most pokémon would scream while this was happening, but not Dusknoir. Instead, he tilted his head back and began to laugh as his very essence filled the black sculpture; he revelled in his own pain as much as that of others. The thread snapped and his creation came to life – it floated next to its creator, ready to protect him with its life.

The first task it had to overcome, however, was not incredibly difficult. Cherial had become rather bored watching her opponent make a replica of himself; she had made no attempt to stifle the yawn that had risen from her lungs. Her mouth opened wide to release the yawn, as well as red waves. These would have washed over the ruin’s protector and made him drowsy had his own protector not moved into their path to stop them – they crashed into it and had no effect other than to wind up Cherial.

Now that he was protected from the intruder, Dusknoir started to become more offensive. In the pit of his stomach, an unholy substance began to form. All sorts of acids and venoms were mixed together to form an incredibly dangerous poison, which had the potential to bring a pokémon to its slow, painful end; in battling it was more often used to help bring down the opponent faster, however. The revolting concoction seeped through the gripper’s hand and then was thrown at Cherial, who watched confusedly. The collection of toxins fell onto the tortoise’s head and soaked into her skin as well as irritating it. Soon enough, the poisons entered her blood stream – at the moment they would only be weak but they’d be able to do more damage as time went on.

With her time cut a little shorter, Cherial knew that she had to hit hard and soon. Her next move would allow her to put much more power into her attacks than otherwise so she started immediately. Coal, which was stored inside her shell, was burned to create very hot, very bright fire. Slowly, the flames leaked from the hole in the Torkoal’s shell to create a fireball on her back. It grew until it was big enough to make the room significantly brighter before Cherial fired it into the air, where it would hang until it ran out of fuel. The ghost type watched it suspiciously with his only eye, he knew that fire-type moves would be made more powerful by the artificial sun creating more heat and hoped that his substitute would hold on long enough for him to do plenty of damage first. In the meantime, Cherial felt the poison surge through her and knew that it was only going to get worse.
