Default Re: Open Battle: Dino vs. Hitmonfighter

Grass stretched out in every direction as far as the eye could see. Two trainers stood face-to-face in the middle of the vast expanse; they had both travelled so far to get here – neither was going to give up now. One looked at his watch and then back at the other. He nodded – it was time for the battle to begin. The other trainer took two small balls from his pocket and tapped a small button on each, causing them to grow to about the size of a tennis ball. The trainer, who was called Dino, then threw the balls down at the ground; they split into two halves, one red and the other white, and spilled out a vast amount of energy, which shone a bright white. When the light had faded two creatures stood on the grass – one was a large black bird which wore what seemed to be a hat while the other was an orange octopus with half-closed eyes. Meanwhile, the first trainer, who happened to be called Hitmonfighter, was also choosing two poke balls; this time there was a Mantyke and a Vaporeon after the flash. The four pokémon glared at each other, wanting to battle.

Coel, the Honchkrow, was determined not to get too badly damaged as a result of this battle and so was glad when his trainer ordered him to paralyse the opponent. He began to charge up electrical energy inside his body; the energy was unfamiliar as well as uncomfortable but the Honchkrow knew that it was for a good cause. The energy gradually built up until it got to the point where Coel could hardly control it any more. He squawked and burst upward before gliding down towards the pair of water-types, electricity crackling around him in a demented aura. As he swept over them, he brushed Water Drop’s back, allowing the charge to pass into him; the Vaporeon went rigid as his muscles were targeted by the small yet powerful charge – he could no longer control them and might not be able to attack for a while.

Melody panicked slightly when she saw this and decided to set up a way of restoring her health as quickly as possible in case she was targeted next. Water seeped from her skin and evaporated; however, it was kept close to the baby pokémon by a strange force. It condensed and formed a ring around her. The ring of water orbited the Mantyke, some of it would soak back into her every once in a while to help her recover from the wounds she took.

The first of these attacks came sooner than she had thought – Aquea was nearly ready to strike. Electrical energy, similar to Coel’s, had built up in the pokémon’s mouth to form a yellow ball. The orange octopus turned so that she was facing the baby, who fluttered nervously as she watched; she carefully took aim and unleashed a beam of electricity which hit Melody and caused a lot of damage. The Mantyke had a dual weakness to the attack and struggled to stay airborne for a short length of time.

Water Drop watched this helplessly – the paralysis had stopped him from doing anything. He would have no effect on the battle. For now...

Coel hadn’t finished disabling the opposition either. He had been storing up energy while he watched the battle unfold and now he was ready to go. He sped towards the struggling Mantyke and delivered the debilitating charge; Melody’s muscles seized up and she dropped like a lead balloon. As soon as she touched the ground, Aquea fired off a ball of vibrant, green energy at the still immobile Water Drop. The attack hit the Vaporeon in the side, bringing about a fresh set of spasms; this didn’t seem to be going well for Hitmonfighter’s warriors.

The round didn’t improve towards the end either. The paralysis held the two water-types in an iron grip so that they had no hope of any sort of counter attack on their foes. Melody was on the verge of crying, she didn’t want to disappoint her trainer on her first battle; Water Drop gave her an encouraging look, trying to prove to himself as well as his ally that they could get through this.
