Default Re: Saraibre Ryu vs. sammy0295 (Open Battle)

Pre-battle

You would have to be stupid to be out here, in the middle of a forest, during a thunderstorm, while it’s on fire. Unfortunately for me, my job often requires stupidity. The two battlers I’m refereeing for have no such excuse. On one side is Sammy, who wields the original Eevee trio, Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon. On the other is Saraibre Ryu, known more affectionately to her friends as Sabi, with the far more unconventional team of a Galvantula, Druddigon, and Minccino. I sigh, pray to about twelve different gods (just to make sure) that I’ll live to tomorrow with no worse than a bad cold, and wave my hand, signaling them to start.

Jolt takes the lead, immediately setting his target as Chilla. The storm is the perfect venue for him to be battling in, and the thundering sky offers the perfect avenue of attack. Small sparks gather on his spiked fur, forming into a thin chain of energy which wraps around his body before zooming off in a thin stream. The speed and accuracy are remarkable, and Chilla freaks for a moment at the cord wraps around her. They tighten, and then just as suddenly as they approached, vanish. Chilla looks around nervously for a moment, before concluding that the attack had failed.

BOOM!

The horrendous sound effect of a lightning strike rang through the forest, causing a shockwave of air which thankfully blew nearby tree-fires out, although it also took several trees down with it. Right where the energy had struck stood Chilla, her fur singed and her body racked with pain. The bolt had gone straight through her body, and while fortunately it hadn’t paralyzed her, it had still hurt like hell. She shook and stepped back from the battle, attempting to summon all her good cheer. She thought only of the possibility of victory, not the pain in her body, and it pumped her up, driving adrenaline into her system and increasing her power. Flare, across the field of battle, was doing something similar, although not nearly so cheery. Her thoughts went instead to prayers, prayers to an entity humans know not of, to empower her and increase her strength. The entity, wherever and whatever it was, must have answered, because the outline of her body glowed momentarily red, in contrast to her usual orange. Her muscles instantly expanded slightly, not much, just enough for a boost in strength and defense. The cost was speed, as her body was uncomfortable with the new muscle size, but this quickly became moot as a golden net of electricity surrounded her. Her head snapped to face the source, specifically Cayci. The Galvantula did whatever the spider equivalent to smirking at her foe, whose body had absorbed the energy and was now desperately trying to keep it from locking her body up.

Flare’s misfortunes are not over, though, as yet another enemy swoops in on her, literally. Gami takes advantage of her distraction to fly in, claw extended and enshrouded red energy. She swipes at Flare’s face, leaving angry red scratches along her cheek. She chuckles as she flies away, amused by her own hit-and-run tactics, when she fees what every Dragon fears suddenly strike her leg: cold. She veers off course before the Ice Beam can begin actively freezing her, and instead manages to get away with a mild creeping frost. The culprit, she sees on turning around, is Vapor, who allows a wisp of frosted breath to escape her lips in taunting.

It’s Cayci’s turn for a revenge hit now, and she knows the perfect attack. The same cords of electricity that Jolt had created in the beginning of the battle form around her body, dancing around her arachnid form, and jump out at Vapor, who hasn’t actually seen the incoming attack. Thankfully for her, though, however fast Cayci may be, Jolt is faster. He moves quickly, smoothly stepping in front of the tendrils of energy that attempt to ensnare his comrade, and takes the hit himself. He barks an order to Vapor to move, which she does the moment she sees what’s happening. A crack rings through the air, followed by the boom of thunder, and another massive lightning bolt comes down from the heavens. It doesn’t have quite the same explosion with it that the first one did, though, as the lightning is absorbed into Jolt’s body and converted into health. His eyes glow an electric yellow momentarily, and then it all fades, replaced with no sound but the rain.

The peace quickly goes away as another bolt of lightning cracks across the sky, and the unmistakable sound of wild fire approaches everyone’s ears. They resume quickly, eager to get out of harm’s way and out of the cold rain as quickly as possible (save for Vapor, who is quite comfortable). Chilla moves now, the pain of being struck directly in the head by lightning gone. She sets her sights on Jolt and Flare, the two Eeveelutions closest to her, and jumps up. Her body twists around in midair, and her tail slices through the air, pointed directly at her targets. A cadre of stars flies out of it and, true to their nature, they immediately lock on target, splitting up to hit them both more evenly. They spatter across Jolt and Flare’s bodies, knocking them back slightly, but the attack itself doesn’t hurt much, being so divided.

Gami glares at Vapor, who had just struck her with yet another Ice Beam she’d narrowly avoided being turned to a Dragonsicle by. She wants to attack the Vaporeon quite badly, but has her orders and can’t go around them. She spins, and flies at Jolt, intending to catch him by surprise with a Sucker Punch. Unfortunately, the thing about waiting to launch a sneak attack in the middle of a battle is that you lose the element of surprise well ahead of time. Jolt spots her coming easily, fully aware of his surroundings, and jumps out of the way, leaving Gami to miss horribly and nearly crash into a tree.

Flare, on the other hand, has no trouble with surprise. In spite of her incredibly slowed-down body, she manages to slip around Cayci, who is distracted watching for an opportunity and waiting for orders. Flare jumps, landing neatly on the back of the spider who paralyzed her, and opens her mouth, intent on revenge. The sharp canine fangs on either side of her mouth burst into flames, a fun benefit of being a carnivorous Fire type, and she throws it down, sinking her teeth into the back of Cayci’s flesh. Cayci screeches and jumps around, attempting to throw Flare off, but her assaulter has an excellent grip with her teeth and is free to scorch her fur as much as she wants. It isn’t until Cayci throws herself backwards that Flare has to give in and jump away, lest she be squished by a giant spider, but she accomplished what she wanted, even if she did fail to burn.

Priority moves cannot be used as conditionals. This especially holds true for Sucker Punch, which fails if it doesn’t go first in the round.
This was two and a half hours of my life that I’ll never get back =D
