Play the part as if you're telling any other story of something that happened during your day.

"So I'm walking the dog earlier and this guy just decides to pull over and ask 'hey, that's an American bulldog, right?' I say 'no, it's a boxer' while I'm trying to control the dog ready to jump in the guy's SUV. Who pulls over on the street to ask what kind of dog you have?"

Does that make any more sense?
