Default Re: Lonnie Ingwersen against bobandbill, open battle.

I sat on the hedge that enclosed the field to watch the battle take place. The two trainers involved stood at opposite sides of the field, which was fairly large, waiting for the order to commence; I gave it to them and they sprang into action. Lonnie Ingwersen made the first move – the small, blue mudskipper by her feet jumped out and climbed up into position on top of a rock, where he could get a good view of the battle field. The Mudkip called his name happily, eager for his first battle. After some consideration, bobandbill decided on which of the poké balls attached to his belt would be the best to start with. He tossed it into the air and light spilled out of it, creating a small blue creature with a yellow beak and a leaf on its back. He shuffled under the apricorn tree where there was shade. Both of the battlers looked like they would do better in a more watery environment but neither seemed particularly uncomfortable – perhaps they could deal without for the time being.

Mudkipz was incredibly eager to get started and bring her opponent down, but his trainer wanted him to go on the defensive for the time being. Reluctantly, she began to focus on building a shield between himself and his leafy opponent. A ring etched itself into the ground around the Mudkip’s rocky perch – it was glowing with green energy. A curved wall slowly crept up from this foundation, creating a protective dome around the water-type. Nothing could penetrate the shield; he would be safe as long as he could stay put.

Ludimefudi, who will be called that in order to preserve whatever sanity he has left, didn’t like the orders he had been given. He thought that they would only make him look like an idiot and that its effects weren’t really worth it any way. Nevertheless, orders were orders and he didn’t want to be punished for not obeying. He half heartedly began throwing his body from side to side, spinning on his back leg and almost falling over like a drunk. Then, with very little honour remaining, he looked up at his target, who was standing on his rock, protected by his shield and looking completely unaffected. The Lotad could barely believe it – all his hard work had been for nothing. He glared at the Mudkip angrily as he began to prepare for his next move.

Mudkipz was happy to now be able to go on the offensive and hit his opponent hard. His shield disintegrated as he leapt from his rock and tore towards the tree which the water weed pokémon was hiding under. He sped towards the Lotad, almost too fast for the six-legged tadpole to dodge. But not quite. Ludimefudi shuffled a little to the left as the speeding fish honed in on him, allowing this assailant to pass him and run into the tree behind. Mudkipz wheeled around, he hadn’t been hurt by the collision but the long distance sprint had tired him out a little – he couldn’t keep up that sort of work for long.

And to make matters worse, Ludimefudi now had a clear shot at him. His leaf began to glow bright green and a small amount of energy began to spin around about an inch above it. The ball grew as he poured more energy into it. The ball was made up of a pinpoint of light at its very centre which was ringed by a couple of concentric circles, the outside one darker that the other. Mudkipz stared at the orb as it grew; he knew he would have to be quick if he wanted to avoid it and that it would do a lot of damage if he didn’t. The ball shot away from the Lotad like a bullet, catching its target in the side as he tried to jump clear. He span around and hit his other side on the tree beside him before sagging to the ground. The fish stared up at the branches and their ripe fruit, dazed; that had hurt him a lot and he was beginning to wonder if he really could pull this off. He shook the doubts from his head – he could do this, he had to.
