Cayci knew that she couldn’t afford to be hit again – she was barely able to stand as it was. Although she was hardly up to running around, she knew that it would be necessary for this attack to work, so she scuttled as fast as her aching limbs would carry her around the clearing, weaving in and out of trees. Lyssa watched carefully, trying to trace her opponent’s movements; her attempts were futile, however, and the bug disappeared into a blur of motion. Then, after a moment, the blur faded away and the electric spider reappeared in her original position. She clicked her teeth and settled back down to watch her opponent while she prepared her next move.

Lyssa gave the Galvantula a strange look before beginning her own attack. Rings of light began to form around her once again as she focused on the hairy arachnid. The light then transformed into sharp stones, which pointed at her target ominously. The spider jumped up and tried to get away from the onslaught, but it was too late. A single sweep of the arm from the Mienshao and the rocks blasted through the sand-filled air and smashed into the bug-type, making her flicker and disappear. Wait, what? Lyssa stared at the space previously taken by her target for a few seconds before the realisation sunk in – she’d been tricked. She span around, searching the arena; there was no trace of her foe – where could she be?

Fortunately for the fighting weasel, Cayci was just about to reveal her whereabouts and attack. Sparks flickered and jumped as she built up a charge in her body; this attack would need a lot more oomph behind it than her last. This one was going to hurt. The sound of crackling electricity drew Lyssa into the trap; she ran in, eager to confront and finish her opponent. Then the bug released the attack and she was flung back across the arena and into a tree on the other side. The Mienshao groaned as the last of the electricity caused her body to shudder and spasm; she had been badly hurt by the attack but could still go on, unlike Cayci. The weasel knew that it was only a matter of time before the spider was at her mercy, and then she would be merciless.

Picking herself up, she ran to the spider, hoping to finish her while she wasn’t expecting it. Rings of light were created around her as she went so that she didn’t have to waste time when she reached her target. When the pointed stones had been prepared, she swept her arm and they shot through the forest towards where Cayci was standing. There was a thud. Lyssa moved to it to examine her handiwork; she found the stones embedded in a tree – no Galvantula in sight. She screamed in frustration; she should have checked before attacking. Meanwhile, Cayci looked down from a nearby tree branch. That had been too close for comfort and she knew that she wasn’t out of the woods yet.

Just as she thought she had time for a bit of rest, the poison made yet another assault on her body, making her whimper in pain. Meanwhile, Lyssa growled because of the ripples of pain spreading across her body from the burned arm; anger flashed in her eyes and she continued her search for the missing Cayci. The raging sandstorm beat at both combatants making them sting and creating several new abrasions. Despite this, Lyssa carried on searching for the Galvanutla who stood between her and victory. But it was too much for Cayci; she fell from her perch in the tree onto a bed of leaves beneath with a muffled sort of thud. Her opponent came running to the scene to find that she was too late to inflict any more damage – the spider was out of it. She kicked at the leaves and screamed in her fury. She hadn’t even been able to get her own back on the pest – she felt cheated.
