Default Re: Thunderbolt vs. Dachampster

With a grim looking face, White Knight recalled his Litwick. He had been hoping that he would last longer than he did but was still impressed by how well he had done against an opponent with such a huge advantage. For his next pokémon, he decided on his faithful dragon – the mighty ImmaMermaid. A blue, serpent-like creature slithered around the edge of the roped off area, showing off for the spectators, who happily took photographs of the rare dragon. A motion from the referee indicated that the battle was to begin again and the Dratini took her place facing Jet. She was looking forward to having a good battle.

Round Three

[Jet] Buizel (M)

Despite his opponent’s eagerness, Jet still had the upper hand on speed, especially in the rain. The sea weasel knew that his opponent had an array of attacks that could deal serious damage to him and so opted to go on the defensive for the time being. A shimmering dome of energy appeared around him. It was completely impenetrable. The Buizel looked out from behind the curved, blue wall, daring the dragon to do her worst.

And it seemed that she was going to. Electrical energy filled the air around ImmaMermaid, giving her a bright yellow aura. A mighty bellow erupted from her lungs as a feeling of pure power rushed though her – she felt alive. She released the charge so that it flew upwards, gathering in the rain clouds above. Rain pattered down on the deck of the ship but the eyes of everyone were on the clouds from which it came. There was a momentary pause before the lightning was rereleased by the clouds but when it fell it came down so fast that you could miss it by blinking. It hit Jet’s shield, exploding on contact. The crowd applauded as the sound of an unstoppable force grating against an unbreakable barrier shook the air. But the attack wasn’t quite an unstoppable force and soon there was no doubt that it had been stopped by the barrier. ImmaMermaid sank to the floor, exhausted. The attack had taken a lot more energy than she would have liked and to see it broken by that shield was soul crushing. Draconic anger flared up inside her, and she knew that she wouldn’t be able to rest until this cocky Buizel had drunk his fill from the cup of her wrath.

But first, Jet had a chance to set about making a counter-attack. The closed his eyes and focused on freezing everything around him. While ice wasn’t his usual, or best, element, it was similar enough to water and so didn’t take long to get going. The temperature of the air around him quickly dropped to below zero and the rain froze solid, creating small balls of ice. Next, he started manipulating the air to create a small storm of ice, which he then unleashed on the snake-like dragon. ImmaMermaid cried out as the miniature blizzard hit her. Small pieces of pointed ice scraped against her flesh and her blood was cooled down by the freezing temperatures. She writhed in agony for a little while before lying still on the floor, allowing the storm to do its work. Eventually, it was scattered by the wind and the dragon was left in peace. She stuck her head up to check that the coast was clear before getting up to face her foe. His attack may have cooled her body and almost frozen her, but her rage burned as hotly as ever. She was going to get rid of the weasel if it was the last thing she did.

Electrical energy wreathed the dragon once again as she prepared to strike down her target. She roared as the energy coursed through her, knowing full well that she wouldn’t be able to pull off another attack like this. Rain hissed as it came into contact with the yellow energy around, making a small area of dry air around the Dratini. However, it wasn’t going to stay wrapped around her. She tossed it skywards as soon as there was enough power for the attack to work. The clouds absorbed the attack, holding it for a moment before unleashing it upon Jet in the form of a twin-headed bolt of lightning. The Buizel gave a cry as the electricity wracked his body, and then fell to the ground. He wasn’t unconscious but he’d been hurt quite badly this time. He grabbed the rope and stumble to his feet. The two combatants glared at one another – neither wanted to back down now.

While they glared at one another, the rain clouds rolled away to reveal the blue sky above. The crowd of tourists quickly set about taking off their coats and taking down their umbrellas before the next round so that they wouldn’t miss a moment of the action. It wouldn’t be long now before a winner was decided, and no one wanted to miss that.
