With the sun beating down on him, Gloom was now much quicker than his opponent. The Sandole could only watch as the stinking plant began to form a ball of spinning energy in the middle of the flower on his head. Gloom fired the ball across the beach but Master Snap was unable to dodge it – he needed to conserve as much energy as possible. The orb flipped her over and ground her into the sand, making her groan. She was in a lot of pain right now and she wished that it would all just end.

However, she still had to at least try and continue the fight. But before she could try and launch another attack, she would have to regain some energy. She lay where she was on the sand and shut her eyes so that she could rest. As she stayed there, motionless, she felt her energy reserves begin to refill. If she could rest like this until the end of the round then she could begin to fight again next time.

Unfortunately, Gloom had other ideas. A cluster of glowing seeds had started glowing inside the flower on his head, taking nourishment from the grass-type. The vile smell which emanated from the plant got worse as he got nearer to his finishing move. The seeds were dispersed from the flower and spread out over the beach. Master Snap looked at each of them with a hint of curiosity, wondering what her opponent could be planning. A smile spread across Gloom’s face as the answer was revealed: all the seeds exploded. The sky was filled with sand and driftwood as the tiny beach was torn apart. Master Snap screamed as the entire world around him was torn to pieces. Meanwhile, Gloom was laughing at the destruction he had caused.

The noise faded and the sand settled back into place. The battlers searched the beach for their pokémon. Gloom was the first to be found; he quickly moved off the beach and into the forest, where he would be more at home, for the next part of the battle. Master Snap was a little harder to find, but they managed it eventually; the crocodile had been buried under a pile of sand and had been knocked unconscious by her opponent’s attack. Her trainer recalled her and put her poké ball away carefully. Both trainers were now one pokémon down – the battle was only going to get more intense from here.
