Pokemon at San Diego Comic Con!
-07/21/06-

Some big news about Pokemon is being revealed at the San Diego Comic Con.

The New Voices
The new voice team was there, which includes Billy Rogers (voice of Brock) and Sarah Natochenny (voice of Ash). Their job is to make the new voices as close to the original voices as possible. It's also reported that Pokemon USA is working to keep the original Japanese music (which is something a lot of fans wanted).

Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon: Re-dubbed
The Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon special was re-dubbed. The new changes include new voice cast member Sarah Natochenny, the new voice of Ash (Jamie Peacock originally did Ash's voice in the first dub of the special, Jamie Peacock also did the voice of Max). The other new voices, such as Billy Rodgers for Brock, remains unchanged (but expect some improvements even with the same new cast, practice makes perfect). The point of the re-dubbed version is to be more closer to the original voices.

Pokemon: Battle Frontier
Dubbing for the 9th Pokemon season, Pokemon: Battle Frontier, has already begun, with five episodes already done. The plan is to dub one new episode every week (there are a total of 52 episodes in the new season).

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Special
A Pokemon Mystery Dungeon special will air on Cartoon Network (no date was announced yet). The special will also be released on DVD (again, no date was announced yet).

About the New Voices
If you're behind on your Pokemon news, here's a quick explanation on why the original voices can't be used anymore:

Pokemon.com said: "We changed the voice actors for the main characters because we were told that the actors who used to provide voices to our characters had conflicting contractual commitments." In more detail, Jamie Davyous Owens, the voice of Officer Jenny, said in her blog (back in April 25, 2006): "Well, I've finally received notice that 4Kids will no longer be recording Pokemon. I don't know if that means they will be recasting completely, but I do know I am contracted so that I cannot do a Pokemon voice outside of 4Kids for at least two years from the end of the contract- so I won't be Officer Jenny in future episodes." Her website (which has the blog): http://www.jamiedavyous.com/home.html

In other words, Pokemon USA can't hire the voice actors because 4Kids is not allowing Pokemon USA to hire the voice actors due to the contract. The new voices will begin with the 9th Pokemon season, Pokemon: Battle Frontier. The new voices debuted in the Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon special.
