Poké Radar Shiny Pokémon Hunting. The GOOD way. AKA my way.
This guide will help you chain for an awesome
DA SHINY BIDOOF
If you plan to make a Shiny Pokémon collection, start off with a Shiny Bidoof.
I KNOW, EVERYBODY HATES BIDOOF, BUT LET'S GO GET ONE ANYWAY.
You'll need:
- Poké Radar
- PP Restorage
- A weak Pokémon or one with Super Fang/False Swipe
- Poké Balls (Luxury if you want to use it and make it adore you)
- A medium-strong Pokémon with a high-PP offensive move like Quick Attack
- LOTS OF PATIENCE AND TOLERANCE.
- Many Max/Super Repels
- Cleanse Tag
Give the strong Pokémon (its good to make it have Intimidate, like Staraptor or Luxio, the Cleanse Tag. Go into the large patch of grass in Route 202, just above Sandgem Town. Oh! And go to the farthest patch away from you (unless it's Shiny; it ALWAYS is the same Pokémon), but make sure that another patch doesn't leave the screen!
IGNORE THE CHEERFUL SONG AND DON'T LET IT CHANGE YOUR MOOD TO CHEERY SO IT MAKES YOU SKIP ALL OVER THE HOUSE; I ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED MY DS INTO THE TOILET ON A 21-SHINX STREAK BECAUSE OF THE FRIGGIN' SONG. I CAUGHT IT, THANK GOD, BUT ACCIDENTALLY RAN INTO A NORMAL BIDOOF WHEN THERE WAS AN ALTERNATE-COLORED SHINY GRASS. I FLICKED A WRONG BUTTON.
Sympathetic now?
Use the Poké Radar. Try to stick to the non-sparkling grass (not Pokémon, grass) for Bidoof. Go to the farthest patch away from you, but make sure another one
DON'T GET DISTRACTED. YOU MIGHT MISS IT. IF IT WAS ALTERNATE, THEN WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
KILL EVERY GUY YOU SEE. NOT IF HE'S SHINY OF COURSE. GIRLS, TOO.
Do not:
- Flee
- Use your Bike
- Get distracted
- Be overconfident (you WILL mess up)
- Get the song to make you giddy
- Go out of the grassy patch
- Kill or run from the Shiny Pokémon (duh)
- Use an area with a corner
- Take a break when you are looking for a Shiny and you're not in a battle
Oh, and if you need a break, close the Nintendo DS (Lite) in a battle.
Same for all COMMON Pokémon
Okay, now that down, let's move on to something better.
DA SHINY SHINX
A lot like the Bidoof. For a Shinx, you'll need:
- Poké Radar
- PP Restorage
- A weak Pokémon or one with Super Fang/False Swipe
- Poké Balls (Luxury if you want to use it and make it adore you)
- A medium-strong Pokémon with Static and a high-PP offensive move like Quick Attack
- LOTS OF PATIENCE AND TOLERANCE
- Many Max/Super Repels
- Cleanse Tag
Okay. We're doin' good.
Put the Static Pokémon in the top of your party and go to the same place over by Sandgem where you caught your Bidoof. Give that Pokémon the Cleanse Tag.
Great! Hunt the same way as you did the Bidoof.
Do not:
- Flee
- Use your Bike
- Get distracted
- Be overconfident (you WILL mess up)
- Get the song to make you giddy
- Go out of the grassy patch
- Kill or run from the Shiny Pokémon (duh)
- Use an area with a corner
- Take a break when you are looking for a Shiny and you're not in a battle
Same for all ELECTRIC COMMON Pokémon
DA SHINY WEEPINBELL
Basically, use the Cleanse Tag, Max Repels, and chain your best. This guy's pretty easy, but I messed up on a 25 chain due to running into a grass on accident while resetting. It's in the Battle Zone on that little island by the Fight Area, in the ocean, left of the Fight Area... THAT PLACE WHERE YOU CATCH TOGEPI.
Please note there is a LOT of stuff to break your chain here.
SWARMS
Go to Prof. Rowan's HOUSE, NOT LAB and talk to the little girl.
See what's swarming today.
Go there.
Same dos/don'ts as Bidoof.
Needs, too.
Same for all RARE Pokémon
Other Stuff:
RESETTING THE RADAR
I made this because the people who read were getting low chains, so I made this part. Okay...
- If there aren't 4 patches wiggling, or if the farthest away isn't the same color, walk the steps you need
- If the walking to that any patch, wiggling or not, looks like it will make any patch go off the screen, reset (otherwise the chain will automatically stop)
RESET - Walk the amount of steps the game says to take and press Y (unless the Poke Radar isn't selected, which it should be)

Now that is good advice. You should put advice for getting a harder to get shiny like Budew, Chatot, Chansey, Porygon, and/or Eevee.

Thanks for the guide! This'll help. I was chaining some Shink though, when a Starly came in and broke it. Then I was chaining them again, then the Pokeradar stopped, and then I was JUST chaining them, and a Sentret broke my chain.
Darn worthless wimps. >.>

So, does chaining actually increase shiny chances? I've been wondering that. If there's a FAQ that states this, please link me to it.

With the radar, if you keep killing the wild guys that appear ( non rare) than a rare one will appear after killing some e.g kill two machops on route 210 and a Bagon or a Miltank might appear (pearl only)

What was the 'baka' for? o_O
If you're saying Manaphy is an idiot or is stupid, honestly, that's not very nice. >.>

either he was calling me a baka or he is saying a "baka" pokemon (i.e. Bidoof) that will mess your chain up and make you lose your chain.
Either way...

Re: Poké Radar Shiny Pokémon Hunting. The GOOD way. AKA my way.
You do realize that chaining doesn't increase your chances of finding a shiny? The odds are still about 1/8000 no matter how high your chain goes. The only reason the Pokéradar is good for finding shinies is because it lets you find a lot of one specific Pokémon without being interrupted. For example, in my Sapphire, I was looking for a shiny Lunatone and I found a shiny Zubat instead . If I had been in my Pearl, I could have used the Pokéradar to eliminate my chances of finding a Zubat and concentrate solely on Lunatones. However, even if I had a 100-Lunatone chain, the odds of finding a shiny one as the 101st would still be the same.
