Press Release (07/02/07)
Northern California Educators, Administrators and Students Can Now Access Pokemon Learning League
Pokemon Learning League to be distributed through Northern California Media and Technology Consortia and award-winning Ed1Stop portal
Pokemon USA, Inc., has partnered with the Northern California Media and Technology Consortia (NCMTC) and Ed1Stop portal to provide educators, administrators and students with access to Pokemon Learning League, the standards-based suite of animated, interactive lessons in language arts, math, science, and life skills for grades 3-6.
The NCMTC has selected Pokemon Learning League as a new online resource to be used through its six member counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Sonoma. The consortia works together to carefully select resources that provide California educators with access to both subscription and free Web sites.
The Ed1Stop.net portal will make Pokemon Learning League available through all contracting schools in the following counties: Contra Costa, Calaveras, Marin, Napa, Santa Cruz and Solano. This portal gives educators, administrators and students the ability to access content during school hours or at home, and offers an organizational tool for lessons and resources with one point of access.
"Through the Ed1Stop.net portal, Pokemon Learning League will offer students engaging, motivating and challenging content, while providing educators with real-time monitoring and assessment tools that do not require time-intensive training," said Yves Saada, vice president of interactive media for Pokemon USA. "We look forward to working with the Consortia, and all participating schools this fall." About 50,000 students will be served through that subscription agreement.
"The Consortia and Ed1Stop portal chose Pokemon Learning League to be a part of our exclusive list of resources because we like how the lessons start with content standards, are well-planned with worksheets and teacher guides, follow a three-part learning method (Watch, Try and Apply), and are relevant to elementary and middle school instruction," said Rovina Salinas, manager, technology and curriculum integration, for the Contra Costa County Office of Education. "As the solution is Web-based, counties can easily add Pokemon Learning League to their online portals, giving teachers instant access to engaging learning activities."
In addition, the California Learning Resource Network (CLRN), an organization that provides educators with critical information needed to select supplemental electronic learning resources aligned to the California state standards, has reviewed Pokemon Learning League content. This successful review assures educators that Pokemon Learning League is a California correlated teaching tool.
Teachers can sign-up for a free one-month trial at http://www.pokemonlearningleague.com/. An annual subscription to Pokemon Learning League for one school is $995. District-wide and classroom subscriptions are also available.

That's really neat...If I was a wee-bit younger, I'd have enjoyed that. If I could still fit in a suitcase, (You remember that perfectly don't you PE2K?) I'd take some classes!
