Default Deck for State Championships

Wow, I'm finally back posting at PE2K, seems like a long time since the first forums went down... Anyway, I come bearing a new deck for you to enjoy.

Cunex v. 1.4

4 Swampert (EX: Ruby/Sapphire Holo)
1 Swampert ex
2 Marshtomp (EX: Dragon)
4 Mudkip (Promo #18)
3 Suicune ex
2 Delcatty (EX: Ruby/Sapphire Holo)
2 Skitty (EX: Sandstorm)
4 Dunsparce (EX: Sandstorm)
- 22 pokémon

18 Water Energy
- 18 Energy

4 TV Reporter
2 Professor Birch
2 Professor Oak's Research
3 Rare Candy
4 Oracle
1 Town Volunteers
2 Fisherman
2 Crystal Shard
- 20 trainers

This is a modified deck of course. Swampert makes for fast energy, and Delcatty makes for fast drawing and setup. The single Swampert ex is there for Lightning Protection, and can bench hit if necessary. Suicune is the heart of the deck, technically he maxes out at 230 damage (but that's nearly impossible), but he's most likely gonna be able to do around 80-100 damage each turn.

This deck hopefully will somewhat counter the dreaded "BAR" deck, Water is obviously a decent counter to Blaziken/Blaziken ex, and hopefully Suicune is fast enough to dsirupt the opponent's setup a bit, and then Delcatty, Dunsparce, and Crystal Shard help drop Rayquaza.

Questions, Comments, Feedback?

Very nice, this deck is perfect for those Blaziken formatted decks. I've seen too many of those decks already, and I'm tired of it. You could try and add Weakness Guard or something to save you from Lightning Pokemon. You have to watch out for Ampharos in BARs and Ampharos Ex decks. Another Pokemon you may have to watch out for is Sceptile Ex, but I doubt you will run into one of those.

Out of the 2 boxes I got of TA & TM, I got all the Exes except for Suicune. Whats up with that?

Yeah, Sceptex is one of the decks that scares me a bit, although I really don't know what to add in to counter it, maybe another Crystal Shard or 2... But anyway, I don't think it'll be a huge problem, so many people are too scared to play grass decks right now...

Yo Mega Man, what's up dude?

Anyway, back to basics (destroy all non-basic lands):

Does pokemon have sideboards or no?

Aside from that, it looks good. Generally, adding the extra card drawing with trainers arer key, but obviously the use of pokemon is there for drawing. Maybe add one more delcatty for drawing sakes (as I say: a deep analysis is crappy unless you dig it up). I'm not sure on what to take out though, as the NRG count is already heading low, and the masses of trainers are needed for the most part.

Hey guess who's back too :P

Wanna know what else is weird? I too am running a Swamp/SuicEx deck for States (tomorrow for MI). And it's not too far off from what you have there.

Absolution's SwampiCide deck

Pokemon: (20)
2 Mudkip (R/S Bubble)
2 Mudkip (DRG Water Gun)
2 Marshtomp (R/S Bubble)
4 Swampert (R/S Water Call)
1 Swampert EX
2 Suicune EX
2 Skitty (SS Double-Edge)
1 Skitty (R/S Energy Catch?)
2 Delcatty (R/S Holo)
2 Dunsparce (SS)

Trainers: (23)
4 Rare Candy
3 POR
3 Oracle
3 Master Ball
2 TV Reporter
2 Energy Restore
2 Crystal Shard
2 Professor Birch
2 Pokemon Nurse

Energy:(17)
17 Water Energy

Basically the same strat as Mega's deck. I built this deck to defend against BAR b/c at City Championships Blaziken was EVERYWHERE...SwampEX is there for AmphyEX, SuicEX for Blaze/X, Crystal Shard for RayqEX. I opted for Master Ball for Ev searching b/c I can use it indispensably, the same reason I went with En. Restore over Fisherman. I didn't max out on Oracle b/c I don't have the means. I am surprised you didn't have Nurse in your deck though Mega, heals SuicEX after a nice attack. That's the big diff. I see. Otherwise I hope this deck runs well. I'll post results after the tourney.

WB Mega!

*Gasp*

You'll be at the MI State Championships, I was incredibly close to going to that one, but sadly, I've gotta be at work tomorrow, a couple of my friends will be there though. There should be a group of 5 from Chicago, tell them that you know Will, that'll freak them out

Anyway, thanks for the welcome backs everyone

Do you plan on going to Indy for their states? As of now I will be attending.

BTW I went 3-3 with the deck I posted, sorta ugly, but I will be making tweaks for Indy ;)

Nah, can't be at the Indiana one, Illinois' is on the same day, I'll be at the one in Wisconsin on the 24th though.

3-3's not bad, better than ending with a losing record, how many players showed?

Attendance was a bit lower than usual, about 37 people came. My friend Eddie took 1st, he gets 2 bye wins at Origins in Ohio (June). He also got a box of TmTa and a pretty cool trophy. ::envy:: Word to the wise though who play this deck...running out of energy is not uncommon...consider Magneton.
