Yeah, I'm not going to ascend again until next year, probably.. I'm just going to collect lucre until Crimbo comes. Maybe I'll explore the new underwater zone just to get the new familiar.

Hahaha. Pretty much the same here. I haven't been ascending like ever. I don't plan on ascending anytime soon either. Just too much crap to do. :-/

Well, Crimbo's here. Pretty interesting how there is a kingdom-wide counter for penguins killed and elves killed.

I'm just collecting the items for the mutant outfit and the familiar right now. Wonder if I should get the new PBS Item of the Month...

Dilemma:

On eating food, my inventory screen is left with green text saying...

~"This space temporarily left blank."
~"This space certainly left blank."
~"This space ironically left blank."

What's going on here? Glitch? New KoL feature? My Hippy Medical Kit making me green?
I don't understaaaaand...

It's a small side effect of the new item use interface. They rushed it out immediately because of all the Crimbo lag, but the announcement says that it'll be fixed after Crimbo.

I assumed he was referring to the real life type of crap, but I dunno.

That would be when other people become 'whiners'.

What is the underwater familiar?

And any news regarding that 'nemesis'?

And how would I suggest adding a 'search for item' feature for your inventory?
*Like the one at the mall*

Is this Crimbo thing a 'must' for me? Is there some sort of point to all this elf killing? Reward? Misfortune and Glowy? Is this an every year thing?
Will I kick myself for missing out?

There are two underwater familiars, now: cuddlefish and imitation crab. They're both a bit expensive (a few hundred thousand each), but I'm sure the price will go down as more people farm them.

I think Jick said that it would be rolled out sometime in Q1 2009 on a radio show.

Just use Ctrl+F when searching through your inventory. Works fine.

Crimbo happens once a year, but it's different each time. I would highly recommend participating in it. Try to get the new outfit and familiar, and kill some elves or penguins while you're at it.

Crimbo Outfit & Familiar...

I get these how? And Crimbo ends when?

Also...

Supposing I want on of those snazzy "The Mutual Autonomy ~ Hedonism With Attitude" signatures...
I would ask who?

Crimbo happens usually until the new year. They cut off the crimbo stuff usually early to mid January.

As for the sigs, I do those. >.>

You know that "The Spirit of Crimbo" thing you got in your Advent Calendar? Equip it; it's an off-hand item. This will let you cast "Recite The Spirit of Crimbo" on mutant elves.

The first two times you cast it per day, it will yield two special items, depending on the elf. The one with the claw gives you a twitching claw, the one with the spider legs gives you a rigid carapace, and the one that looks inflated gives you a pulsing flesh. After the first two casts per day, every other cast will give you unstable DNA.

Outfit recipes (meat-paste them):
parasitic claw: twitching claw + unstable DNA = parasitic claw

parasitic strangleworm: pulsing flesh + unstable DNA = wriggling tentacle, wriggling tentacle + rigid carapace = parasitic strangleworm

parsitic headgnawer: twitching claw + twitching claw = pair of twitching claws, pair of twitching claws + rigid carapace = gnashing teeth, gnashing teeth + unstable DNA = parasitic headgnawer

parsitic tentacles: pulsing flesh + unstable DNA = wriggling tentacle, pulsing flesh + unstable DNA = wriggling tentacle, wriggling tentacle + wriggling tentacle = mass of wriggling tentacles, mass of wriggling tentacles + rigid carapace = parasitic tentacles

Familiar:
mass of wriggling tentacles + pair of twitching claws = pair of ragged claws

Are these item drops a 100% rate or do I need to equip some percentage equipment?

The ones he said above are all 100% drops. You don't get them when you just randomly kill them.
