Ranger: Trainer Sara
Location: Dock (Ranger Outpost 1, en route to Abandoned Power Plant)

Ah, what a beautiful morning. The sky was a deep crystal blue, the sun was shining warmly, and there was just a hint of a cool breeze coming off the sea
around the island. They made me feel giddy, mornings like this, made me glad to be alive and fully capable of enjoying said life. It was impossible for me to be gloomy on days like this. Well, okay, not impossible, but pretty darn hard.

I was out back, watching a few puffy white clouds skitter across the sky, when I heard the merry jingle of the front door opening. I turned and trotted through the back door of the Outpost, moving down the long, bland white hallway. I came to another door, this one separating the staff area from the main lobby, and saw a young man signing in at the front desk. I slowed to a quick walk and approached the counter, waiting until the teen had finished. I then grinned and slid the sign-in book towards myself, turning it so I didn't have to read upside down.

"One Sam, heading to the Abandoned Power Plant, bringing two Pokemon through." I move to a computer set on a desk behind the counter and boot up the Trainer Tracker program, quickly inputting the various data needed when the prompts pop up. After doing that, I go back to the counter and swing a hinged section upwards, beckoning towards the slim young man to follow me. "My name is Trainer Sara. I know, strange, huh? You can call me Trainer, or Sara, whichever you prefer."

I led the Trainer back the way I'd come, talking the whole while and, I fear, not giving the poor guy to get a word in edgewise. I always got excited when I was taking the first Trainer of the day through the Park.

"I saw from the logs in the computer that this is your first time here. Boy, are you in for a treat! I always love seeing how first-time visitors react when they see this place and everything. It's even better when they run into a really rare Pokemon, like the ones that don't exist in the wild any longer. Well, of course there aren't any Pokemon like that in the power plant, but hey, I'm sure you understand."

By now we were outside and heading towards a small golf-cart like vehicle. I motioned for the Trainer to get in, and once we were settled, I started the little cart up and swung it around, driving out of the blacktopped lot that was full of other vehicles. All of them were a pale cream color, with a red PokeBall decal on the hood and the letters "NP" across the middle. The letters were done in white block letters; I personally thought the design was kind of lame, but hey, I wasn't paid to care about what the transportation looked like.

As we drove, I continued to speak. "You're the first Trainer of the day, which means you'll have the entire area to yourself. That's always good; it means that the Pokemon there won't have been disturbed by previous Trainers. You've always got a better chance of running into rarer Pokemon when they haven't all been chased off or captured by others."

It didn't take long for us to reach the power plant. I only had to worry about stray Pokemon wandering onto the little two-way road. Most Pokemon had learned to avoid the road, though, so I was able to push the cart to its thirty-mile-per-hour limit. We reached the plant in about ten minutes, during which time I pointed out various fauna and flora and rambled about the Park's history.

We finally reached the power plant, which was a large, one-story building painted a dreary sort of gray color. There were dozens of tinted windows that were so dark they looked black, and which reflected the morning sunlight with blinding intensity. I raised a hand to shield my eyes as I parked about five yards from the building, which sprawled over nearly a hundred acres, and got out of the cart.

"Well, here we are," I said. "I hope you're ready for what's ahead."

Trainer: Sam, HH, and Sandy
Location: Dock & Power Plant

Sam grinned slightly into the morning sun before he dotted the last ‘I’ onto the piece of paper that sat in front of him. More specifically, the piece of paper was a general admittance form to get into the newly opened Pokémon Park, the bottom of the thin material rustling slightly in the wind despite the fact that the top was being held firmly by a clipboard. He had put forward a piece of paper a week ago with general information and a basic psychological profile, and as such had been accepted into a list of trainers that would be able to get into the Park after it opened.

So here he was on opening day, filling out yet another paper, this one addressing issues such as payment methods, the members of his team that he planned on bringing into the Park, and even a signed contract that would state that the government could not be held liable if anything was to happen to him inside the island itself. Still, the young boy wasn’t too worried, he had chosen Sandy and Hell Hound specifically to keep himself safe. Besides, Sam had went over each of the rules that had been sent over in the original packet; there would be a trained Ranger escorting him so he would not run the risk of getting lost, and if worse came to worse there would be someone to watch his back.

With everything done, the glasses-wearing youth stood up from the rough wooden bench that he had been perched upon while finishing up the document. He had chosen to do it all outside instead of sitting in one of the plastic chairs that had been set up in the building labeled Ranger Outpost One. The ambiance was just so much better than being inside a stuffy room with other hopefuls; it soothed him and allowed him to focus more on the task at hand. Out of all of the various jobs he had taken on in his life little to none of them had left him bound to a desk, though a select few did give him his fair share of paperwork.

The black haired trainer opened the door to the outpost, handing in his paperwork to the clerk before signing the leather-bound book on the massive desk that served as a sign-in once everything was finished. Turning around on his heel, the young trainer went to find a seat in the stuffy room to wait to be called forward. Luckily, he did not even have to take the time to find a seat, for a girl stepped out from behind some barricade that kept trainers from waddling into the Park on their own and looked at the book. In a flurry of movement she introduced his intentions (which he had jotted down in the book as well), introduced herself, jabbed at a keyboard and then led him past the barricade and into the Park proper.

Her long blonde hair trailed after her as Sara led the way, talking the whole time. For his part Sam looked around like a kid at a toy store, trying to take in all of the various sights and sounds. It was beautiful at first glances, an area that was for the most part totally untouched by humans. Or, at least, it had been untouched for quite a while until relatively recently. For its part, the weather seemed to be trying its best to make the opening day even better, which was a good thing because the trainer was only wearing a light but sturdy coat, a black shirt, and jeans. Still, he was better clothed for bad weather than the Ranger, who appeared to be wearing some strange red shirt and short black shorts.
The youth was about ready to ask if he could let one of his Pokémon out of their balls when they came upon their ride, a small little vehicle that looked like it couldn’t carry anything heavier than the two of them. The lean boy jumped in easily, plopping himself into the padded seat on the passenger side, waiting for his assigned Ranger to set them off to his chosen destination, the Power Plant. It took him quite a while to make his decision; Sam really wanted to see something more natural and beautiful, but was also looking for something shocking and interesting. Interest and curiosity won out in the end, and he decided to save calm and tranquil for another time.

After a rushed trip that included a few shout outs about passing objects that he didn’t even try to glance at they arrived, stopping at a long building that looked like it had been abandoned long ago, and for good reason. It looked dull and somewhat creepy, as if lawyers would wait around every corner to give long winded lectures about rules before making an arrest. The windows suggested that whatever sunlight tried to penetrate them they would keep it out, keeping the building dark and lonelier. “Well, here we are,” the strangely red orbed lass stated as they both got out, “I hope you’re ready for what’s ahead.”

Sam grinned courageously; he had been in a lot of situations that were a lot more intimidating than this, the most recent of which being a short stint in a youth criminal justice training program that let him come face to face with the popular Team Rocket. Leading the way, he walked at a normal pace towards the building, his grin deterring slightly as he got closer and closer to the door. “I hope you brought a flashlight,” he said to his Ranger, casting her a glance from over his shoulder. Then a light bulb appeared over his head as he remembered a part of his training at the academy; when in a dangerous system always remember that a Pokémon is as good a backup as any, especially when one is not old enough to own a firearm.

Grabbing one of the two balls he did not leave at the front desk, he dropped it to the ground, looking pointedly away from the flash of light that signified the release of his friend and ally. The ball flew back into his opened palm as if an obedient robot, shrinking so he could place it in its spot on his belt. Looking down, Sam glanced at his Houndoom, the horned creature stretching his four feet before loping loyally to his trainer’s side. The lean child grinned once again before reaching for the door.

OOC: How and when we encounter is up to you.

Trainer Sara
Abandoned Power Plant

“I hope you brought a flashlight," Sam said, shooting me a look. Then he got a curious expression of enlightenment, before pulling out a PokeBall and releasing from inside one of his two Pokemon. It turned out to be a Houndoom, which stretched before moving to his Trainer's side. I, too, paused long enough to grab a Ball from my pack, releasing from inside my loyal friend Kilia. The Quirky Absol pranced about merrily after materializing from her Ball, then heeled at my right side and eyed Sam's Houndoom with a titled head. She was young, Kilia, barely out of puppyhood, but she was strong and knew when to get serious.

Sam reached the huge, rusty metals doors of the power plant as I joined him, Kilia trotting along beside me. The doors opened with painfully loud squeals, and as myself and Kilia winced at the noise, I told myself I'd bring some WD40 next time I came out here. That horrid racket alone had probably scared off most of the Pokemon hanging around near the entrance.

We headed inside, Kilia pushing ahead of all of us as she scoped out the surroundings. Her Super Luck Ability would make it hard for her to be caught by surprise by anything still lurking around. After a moment she glanced over her shoulder and gave a soft "Sol," signaling the way was clear of danger. I nodded as I peered ahead, my eyes adjusting to the dim gloom of the plant. There were light bulbs set at regular intervals in the ceiling, but their light was weak and did little to effectively light the area. Of course this was done on purpose, but that knowledge didn't make it any easier to navigate this place if you weren't prepared.

I pulled a mini flashlight from my pack and turned it on, then shut the doors behind us. The gloom settled heavier once the cherry sunlight was cut off; the tinted windows didn't let in any light at all. The strong, bright beam of light from my flashlight cut through the darkness, helping illuminate our path.

"Well, let's get moving," I said after a moment, taking the lead and heading towards the only hallway. It was wide and tall, as if the builders had expected trucks to be driving through or something. There was a receptionist area to the right of the hallway, but it was dark and a dusty chair was the only thing there. I repressed a shudder; no matter how many times I came here, the place still gave me the creeps.

We made our way into the hall, which split into several corridors about twenty paces from the entryway. I knew this place inside and out, but people who didn't know their way around would become quickly -and hopelessly- lost. I halted at the split and glanced at Sam, vaguely waving a hand around to indicate the general area.

"Well, I know my way around, so it doesn't really matter which way we go. But you're the one on the adventure, so you get to choose the path," I told him. I'd barely finished speaking when Kilia gave a sudden growl, her head turning to the left. Automatically reacting, I swung my flashlight around as a command leapt to my tongue. Thankfully, I didn't need Kilia's intervention: my flashlight revealed the tiny form of a Minun puttering around about three yards down the hall that Kilia had indicated. When the light hit it, the little electric mouse gave a startled cry and came to a halt, raising its minuscule paws to shield its eyes. I quickly lowered the beam enough to get the light out of its eyes, but not so much that I lost sight of it in the near-darkness.

"I'm sorry little guy," I apologized, watching the small Pokemon lower its paws. It huffed at me in anger, but it was so small it was more cute than intimidating. Still, I'd been zapped by one of these things before, and despite their small size, they were nothing to underestimate. "You caught us by surprise."

"Mi minun!" the Pokemon cried, still angry. I saw thin, barely-visible tendrils of yellow current jump from the blue patches on its checks as it started jumping around. "Nun mi minun!" It then darted forward, sparks trailing from it as it made a jump at Kilia. The larger Absol easily moved out of the way of the hasty attack, heaving an irritated sigh as she watched the Minun land. Now it was between us, Sam, and his Houndoom, and its anger turned to unease as it glared around at us. Then its gaze fell on the flashlight in my hand and its resolve firmed. It gave a sort of mouse-like squeak as sparks started jumping from its cheeks again, getting ready, it seemed, to blast the source of its discomfort.

Trainer: Sam
Location: Abandoned Power Plant

OOC:: Sorry, work and school keeping me busy ^^:.

The doors opened like Sam expected them to be, slowly and loudly, which was something that he would expect out of a scary movie. ‘You would have thought they would at least try to get rid of the squeak,’ the boy thought as he adjusted his glasses, ‘I understand the need to keep the place as is so that the Pokemon who have made the place their own won’t be bothered, but there’s a line…’ Glancing downwards to the dark Pokemon that served as his loyal companion gave him courage, and with a hard swallow he moved in behind his Ranger, following the trailing blonde hair.

The Ranger had also let out a Pokemon, a white and black creature that looked too cute to be too old, as most Absols looked particularly dangerous. The female moved forwards, apparently serving as a lookout, hopefully able to see better in the low light than he himself was. Thankfully, his Houndoom had realized what his human trainer’s problem would be, and periodically blew a wave of fire out of his mouth to illuminate the immediate area. For him it was as easy as breathing, pushing the fire from his throat, though it seemed to just a normal human as a significant power.

“Well, let’s get moving,” the girl stated as Sam shook his head and looked away from Hell Hound; he had always been fascinated by his own Pokemon and their personalities, a trait he picked up from his days as assistant to a ‘Pokemon Whisperer.’ She had pulled out a flashlight, and was leading him through a hallway, everything dark and covered with dust. After a while the four of them reached an area that led out many different ways, each looking as dark and daunting as the last. “Well, I know my way around,” the girl continued, “so it doesn’t really matter which way we go. But you’re the one on the adventure, so you get to choose the path.”

Before he could choose they were surprised by a growl coming from the Absol, apparently warning of some danger because the Ranger whipped her flashlight around at light speed. There standing under the beam of light was a small yellow Pokemon with blue cheeks, looking for all the world to be cute and innocent. Though the creature looked annoyed at being surprised, the girl quickly, and predictably, reacted to the cute sight. “I’m sorry little guy,” she said softly, “you caught us by surprise.”

Still, the electric Pokemon would hear none of it, apparently more than angry at being disturbed. The telltale sign of electric energy broke the darkness like the flashlight would have, alerting Sam not only to the other’s presence but also to the power that the tiny body possessed. What had to be a warning shock traveled towards the Absol, though the female Pokemon easily dodged it. It was ready to shock again at the slightest provocation, and Sam figured he had better make up his mind on whether he wanted to pass this one by or go for it quickly. His mind worked quickly, thinking about the Pokemon he was really hoping on finding, which included Elekid, Voltorb, Magnemite, Koffing, Grimer and possibly Porygon.

Still, there was a chance that the dark haired boy would not see any of those, and the figure in front of him was just too cute and innocent to pass up. He had always thought Pikachu to be overrated, but he always thought the idea of the twins Plusle and Minun as interesting mascots. With his idea decided he touched the charm bracelet on his hand for good luck; it had been a gift from his little sister, a charm bracelet with a charm from each of his jobs. She had made the charms herself, it was a hobby and talent of hers, and though there was so many he now kept most in a pouch in his backpack he kept his favorites on the original bracelet, which he now considered to be good luck.

“Alright,” he said firmly, “battle call! Let’s give any Pokemon thinking of intruding something to be afraid of. Follow that up with your demon power!”

Hell Hound yipped an affirmative before turning to look at the blue and yellow creature, staring for a second to make sure it wasn’t running before turning his head up to the ceiling. He let loose a Howl, the sound reverberating down the halls and issuing all throughout the building. Immediately afterwards several other sounds filled the area, other Pokemon who had been curious running away from the scene as fast as they could. The horned dog didn’t hear them, fully concentrating on the little creature. His eyes suddenly turned black, and an invisible aura flew to the wild Pokemon, trapping it. With a small jerk of his head the fire Pokemon slowly brought his opponent in close, lashing out with his back paws and devil-like tail when it was close. The Faint Attack usually served well as a first strike; the attack didn’t fail often and served to do enough damage to tilt the favor in their side for the rest of the battle.

Still, Sam couldn’t help but wince and feel sorry, hoping his friend didn’t do too much damage to the Pokemon that would be his new companion.

Once Sam ordered his Houndoom to begin the battle, I gave a soft whistle to call Kilia to my side. The two of us then moved to the side, giving Sam and Houndoom plenty of room to battle the angry Minun. Houndoom's first order turned out to be Howl; the sound of it reverberated off the walls around us, making the hairs on my arms and neck stand straight up. I could hear the fleeing footfalls of Pokemon that had been coming to investigate, shaking my head a little.

"Wow, we might not be running into any other Pokemon for quite a while after THAT," I mumbled to Kilia, who nodded in agreement. She then sat down and began to wash her face much like a cat, quickly losing interest in the battle taking place before her. Despite this, I knew she'd be ready to react in an instant if need be.

After the haunting Howl ended, Sam's Pokemon moved on to his next command, spirits bolstered by his success in driving away any potential interlopers. Minun, completely unaffected by the larger Pokemon's Howl, gave an angry-sounding squeak and released a few random sparks of bright electricity. When Houndoom locked its gaze on the little mouse, Minun responded with a surprisingly vicious grin. Even when Houndoom's eyes went black and a flick of his horned head suddenly started reeling the Minun in, it didn't look startled or upset. It just keep grinning like some evil possessed little creature.

Then it did something that left me shocked. Just as Houndoom whirled and lashed out with paws and tail, Minun lunged forward with a cry. It managed to avoid Houndoom's paws, though the whip-like tail smacked it in the side. Ignoring what had to be a painfully stinging blow, Minun grabbed Houndoom's tail in its little paws and let off a series of weak sparks. These channeled down Minun's arms, through Houndoom's tail, and into the canine's body. Its attack completed, Minun released Houndoom's tail and skittered to one side, giggling as it went. Once it was a fair distance away, it stood on its back paws and spun around, rubbing its front paws together and looking horribly pleased with its Thunder Wave. Cackling like an old witch, Minun did a sort of dance as it rubbed its paws together. It didn't take long for me to realize the thnig was coming up with some kind of Nasty Plot, its Special Attack rising as it contemplated what unpleasantness to unleash on Mightyena next.
