To Write a Book...
I assume this is the place to put this, since it's in regards to written work, even if it's not on the forum.
I'm planning on writing a book, one of which I'm not sure of the name yet. The point of the poll is for people to vote on which title they think sounds better. So you can make a good choice, here's a quick summary of the book:
A group of men in Ecuador try to illegally mine gold, and end up getting trapped after a cave-in. The cave-in uncovered a small brood of parasites that had been in a state of suspended animation. Some of the men are killed in the cave-in, the rest are infested by the parasites. Stuff happens, and the parasites eventually spread like crazy. These parasites drive their hosts insane, turn them into (literal) zombies, and make them slowly rot away while still alive (there are three stages of the parasite, each stage does one of these things to its host).
I'll post the stuff on the three forms I have on my dA account soon 8D. Anyways, I'm torn between "Parasyte" and "Skin Deep" for the titles of this, which I plan on making it be one book. There's a good chance it might be two or even three, though, so whatever name gets the least votes can be a title for the next book, if there is one.
Also, I haven't quite gotten a scientific name for the species, or for the individual stages. I don't know anything about Latin, so yeah. If someone could help me I'd totally acknowledge you in my book for assisting my research.
Names:
Species- Internal insect (You'll understand when you see the pics of them; Internal because they're all endoparasites)
First stage- Gel scorpion
Second stage- Endocentipede
Third stage- Blight bug
I need Latin translations for all those, to give the book a more realistic feel and all. If at all possible I'd like as many of them as possible to be fusions of the separate words, but if not just a Latin translation would be fine.
Also, I'd like to ask everyone who has their own forum/website/Facebook/dA/MySpace/whatever account to post a link to this thread, where I will be making posts about updates and stuff. The more people who are expecting me to get this written and published, the more incentive I'll have to do just that :3.
And finally, I'm open to ideas and advice and information about parasites and other stuff you guys might think is helpful.

Wow, writing a book. Well, I think Parasyte would be a much better title. I don't know anything about Latin, sorry about that, but I do have a Myspace. I'll try to help out as much as I can!

Re: To Write a Book...
Before even reading the little synopsis I preferred the name Skin Deep, then after reading, I still preferred it.
I can imagine it on the front of the book more so than the other one.

Re: To Write a Book...
I prefer "Parasyte" as well for some reason. Just sounds more, I dunno, sinister lol.
Comments on the parasite pics? I didn't work very long on them; they were rough sketches I did in pencil and then went over with a normal black-ink pen.

Re: To Write a Book...
I'd say Parasyte. :3
Also; This sounds like a book I'd read. 8D I love medical junk so hearing about the symptoms and all that stuff would really interest me. Sotry not to leave that out, I got really upset at this one book when they mentioned a disease but never went into detail. ;_;
Your pictures are nice. I didn't get a chance to read about each bug yet, but it looks great. I wish you alot of luck :3

Re: To Write a Book...
Skin Deep, definately. It isn't as literal and sounds better.

Re: To Write a Book...
I'd say Skin Deep, but imo, makes it sound too much like a book about teenager coming-of-age and realizing that there's more to life than being pretty... I don't like either of the names, sorry.
I quite like the name Blight Bug, Gel Scorpion and Endocentipede are not so cool-sounding though, especially Gel Scorpion.
As for Latin, viscus or visceris mean the soft fleshy innards of a person. "Bestiola" is sorta similar to insect, but there's no really a direct translation of the word. "Cnyphes" is a gnat. I dunno if that's anything like what you're looking for.

Re: To Write a Book...
Skin Deep. Parasyte sounds too in-your-face. Skin Deep is less specific, brings more attention to it. You see the title and you have no idea what it could be about, so you pick it up and look at the inside flap. Parasyte is like "Ooookay, it's about alien parasites or something" and you end up only drawing in the sci-fi nerds.

Re: To Write a Book...
I don't think you know this, but there's a Japanese horror comic called Parasyte. If this is some sort of unrealted thing, you might want to change it to Skin Deep.
