Stories without the word 'Pokemon' or anything Pokemon have been written and passed. As long as it's a well written story and it can somehow relate to a Pokemon being captured it can get something caught.

I've written a few stories that had little to nothing to do with Pokemon, using them mainly in a passing manner, and yet caught what I was after.

Of course that could be cause I'm just cool, confident, awesome and loved by the masses.

Story where Pokemon were used as fillers. I really should pick this fanfic back up.

You forgot humble.

Anyway, here's a couple stories I remember where Pokemon were only marginal to the plot, and quite nonexistent altogether.

How to Write Stories
'dis is mine, basically it's a story about a boy writing a story. I don't even remember if Pokemon were real or just fictional chaacters here.

Pokemon is Serious Business!
the story was about a girl getting scammed on WiFi and chasing the scammer all over the world for her Abra. Then things got weird.

There may be many more but I don't know any

Oh man Isaiah, you're too funny.

I do think it's fairly easy to combine elements of other genres with pokemon. Most fan fiction writers do it all the time (look up Pokemon and Anything Else fan fiction). It's just a matter of applying creativity.

Sorry I've been away so long; my internet died sometime in early October (ish) and my family wouldn't get around to fixing it >:( I have also lost all my text files (only backed up music and a few images) which sucks. (However, I now have a valid reason for uploading my stories even when they're not finished XD )

I am in the middle of a pandemic of school exams, coursework, classes etc but I will be back to grading ASAP, I swear.

Hey everyone!
Just have a quick question about battles.... Do the battles have to be a fighting battle, like the kind you see in the anime? Or can it be something like... a fight between lawyer Pokemon, trying to give a rape victim justice?

If you don't get what I mean, pretty much, do battles have to include Pokemon moves or can it be two laywers battling it out in the court?
(And yes, there is a Pokemon laywer in my story. If Meowth can talk, why can't other Pokemon? They'd make a great living, you know. Lots of money! xD )

It's a Law and Order Pokemon Parody. :/

I'd assume you do indeed need to have a battle somewhere; although it is possible to obtain Pokemon without a battle in a story - though tthe story needs to be top-notch perfection.

perfection is a little exaggerate, but in general creativity is required to pull off a story without a "normal" battle, and if you're confident you can do something creative you can forego it

WHOA, SOMEONE NOTICED. I'M IMPRESSED.

Actually, I think I'm gonna hold onto it 'till Spring. I really did plan on hosting it in October, but when the time came around, I just didn't feel up to it, to be honest. Kinda lame of me, I know, but eh. Time didn't feel quite right, and I wasn't much in the mood for it, myself, anyway. So I just sorta decided to give everyone a break from contests. Seems like there's always one (if not two), going on around here.

Sorry if that's disappointing for you, Bryce, but since you're the only person who even bothered to ask me about it in these past two months, maybe I made the right choice, after all. ^^;
